It has a ship themed jungle gym that has a couple of slides. It is on a rubbery mat surface that is worn and has seen better days. The park is relatively well maintained, even though there are some areas that can use a little attention. There are 3 different paved trails that can bu used for jogging or walking. One of the trails has an observation deck off of the side of it that is nice, but you can see where they removed some graffiti from the wood. The deck overlooks a marsh area. The park has benches around the playground area and along the trails and has lots of green area to play catch or run around. The lawn is very well maintained and there is decent lighting along the trails. The park is dog friendly, if they are on a leash. I like this park, but it could be a little cleaner and the playground could be a bit bigger. This is a nice park to walk/run around to clear your head and/or take in the day.

I have not been to this zoo in about five years until this visit. My mother and I went to the zoo to see the new panther kitten but it wasn't on display that day which was disappointing but not unexpected. This zoo is well maintained, offers the usual array of animals (otters, lions, a wide variety of birds), and specializes in the Louisiana exhibit, which I always like to see. You can get food to feed the gigantic koi in the river running through the zoo at the gift shop for some fun but be sure to recycle the cup when you are finished. Staff does a great job of keeping the zoo clean, and the caretakers will answer any questions you have about the animals. I love this zoo and know you will too. Enjoy the zoo!

Would have been a lot better except for incompetent management that did not want to wait out passing weather. Was told we would be clear at 5:30. Went out at 5:30 only to have our carts shut off as soon as we got back out there. After seeing no lightning within 7 miles on our lighting app, was told sarcastic comments by cart boys that told us we had to go back in. Went back to clubhouse to wait out the weather, just to be told they were closing down at 6 PM. Asked for a refund since we were being forced to leave, but apparently this course has the ability to tell you you can't finish without giving a refund. Not sure if I've been to a course that will not allow you to finish a round when carts are due back in at 8:30 just because workers want to get home early, but I guess there's a first for everything.

Only con, the greens were a little fuzzy, I could tell they hadn't been mowed in a day or two.....but not that big of a deal. Great place to practice too. Range balls were actually good quality and they even have a short game practice area to hit balls from about 90yrds, in. A lot of courses don't have that, which is odd since that is the most important thing to practice minus putting. I'll definitely be back.

We came into town late so we checked in around midnight I believe which was very convenient for us. We accidentally stole the couch cushions because our team was packing up quick to go home after our job lol but I called them as soon as I realized we had the cushions when we arrived back in our home state and they allowed us to mail them back. He wasn't upset about it, he politely laughed and told us it was fine to just mail them back so that's what we did. Funny moment at the funny farm lol pun intended. If we ever come back to Alexandria this place will be our first option every time. The cabin we stayed in was clean, comfortable and we felt welcome. When we got off of work it felt like we stepped into a vacation. Having a washing machine and dryer in the unit definitely helped as well.

It's really hard to find a nice room in Alexandria, LA. Or even a room with a bed in it that isn't…read more30+ years old. This is the third establishment we have tried in the Cenla area and you know the saying "third time is the charm"? Well charming is definitely the best way to describe these little cottages! There was only the Carriage house available for our stay so we chose the Sweetheart room over the Magnolia room, mainly because the jacuzzi tub looked bigger. The rooms are very clean. You would think one lady and her son/grandson wouldn't be able to keep rooms so clean, but she does it. Also, the room is stocked with just about anything food-wise that you could want for breakfast - juices, milk, cereal, grits, oatmeal, coffee, and each day there is pastry set out for the next morning. A couple of mornings it was danishes, but on our last day it was some great blueberry scones. And if something I have listed isn't there? Call them and if they have any in-stock they will bring it to you. Behind the cottages is a cypress-lined bayou where you will see ducks, turtles, and even the occasional nutria. In fact, it looks like some nutria might have a little enclave under one of the large cypress trees along the bayou. The neighboring property has goats on it and my husband liked feeding them leaves from the pecan trees nearby. Now, if you want a traditional bed and breakfast experience? Then DO NOT book through the website bedandbreakfast.com. If you book through this website you will get a cheaper price, but you will only get the stock of breakfast items listed above. If you want the big breakfast, then call the number on her website and book directly through her. It will cost a bit more, but you will get a large country breakfast. The only caveat is that this large breakfast isn't served until 9 a.m., so if you are an early riser (like me) you might rather going out to eat or just having what is in the room.

Air conditioner can't keep up in the summer, so it's hot inside all the time. Using bubbles in the bathtub incurs an additional $200 dollar cleaning fee. There is no bathroom door, so you shower and use the toilet in what is basically the bedroom/kitchen. The tv is a 15" set that is barely visible from any seating area. The ceiling fan (which is a God-send) wobbles horribly and looks as if it's about to come crashing down on the bed at any moment. There's no detergent to do laundry in the advertised washer/dryer. Forget about cooking your own meals. It's clean and quiet. The views are really great, but you can stay in a much more comfortable room for half the price and spend the rest on a massage or spa day!
