ice cream in a waffle cone

If you're in the Putney area, and need maple products, this is the place to go. Other places try to be this place, but this place is that place and all other places just don't place. Plenty of parking on a wonderful sunny day. Went inside and was immediately greeted by the nice young lady at the counter. Walked in and browsed first. Didn't want to seem greedy. Found a sale rack in the back, which was stocked, and went back up front to grab a basket. Found all kinds of items on that rack to give to friends. FYI, I grew up here and am home visiting, so I'm bringing it all back so my southern friends can experience the real stuff. While checking out, we observed the amazing food menu above the counter, and were enticed. I ordered the Diabolical Donut Bowl. Get it. Don't hesitate. Get it. Waffle bowl with a warmed apple cider donut on the bottom. Maple creemee on top. Drizzled with dark maple syrup. Dude. Wow. Less than $6 for this dessert from the gods. Why are you still reading? Go. Get there. Now.

I'm from the west coast so visiting country stores are very amusing for me. My aunt took me here and I enjoyed sampling the many maple syrups they had to offer. I was able to find some cute Vermont made items and took them back with me. While here I ordered their ice cream, I forget the name of it but it has maple syrup in it and came in a waffle cone. Delicious!!!! I enjoyed sitting outside. I feel like this place can be easily missed. But if you're not from around the area, as was I, I'd suggest checking this out!

We only had a couple hours to spend in VT and thought we would stop and try some maple syrup, obviously!

The structure is beautiful and looked like a barn; it was nicely decorated and showcased Vermont as a whole. The restrooms were large and clean; they had changing tables which was a plus. They had a large patio area with many seats. There was even a playground. Parking was plentiful. We went in September around 6:30 pm and outside near the playground, there were a ton of mosquitos. We had to run out of there lol. Overall, it's a great spot to stop and stretch your legs if you're in the area.

Everyone working there was helpful, especially the woman at the main counter. She pulled out some maps and booklets and highlighted some covered bridges we were looking for and suggested a deli near one of them. Sometimes, digital maps and internet access to these things are nice for planning, as we had, but a good old fashioned paper map of the area highlighted by a local, can still be helpful in decision making. The rest rooms were very nice and there was some art in the display room. But the traditional post and beam construction was the main attraction. The parking was ample. Do stop here, whether you need help or not, it was well worth seeing. It truly is a Welcome Center to a very beautiful state.
