The guesthouse was larger than anticipated, truly a private space with wonderful views. This is a working farm where you can learn about the trade, and some woodworking if you're interested. The family was friendly but never overbearing. We were even able to borrow the family four wheel drive car to go to dinner when our car just couldn't make it up the hill. The Inn is set back from Rt 2, but you can walk to quite a few places: Dunkin Donuts, Wild Oats Market, and Moonlight Diner. When we left for dinner our last night, we were planning on having our pup stay in our room until we got back, but the Inn keeper, Carolyn, generously offered let our puppy play with her beagles until we got back. I always drive through in the winter for the beautiful sunrise over the mountains in the distance. Never seen it in the fall before and it was busy! Too be expected as my buddy owns Fern Valley Farm in Wilbraham so I already have my apples for the year. But, my girlfriend and I stopped for some cider and a cider donut at one of the stands off to the side in the parking lot. I had a cider lemonade which I enjoyed. Babe had a regular cider which was not to her liking as, in my opinion, coming from Michigan there is a lot of culture she's getting used to around here. **November 2025: Tuesday Early Afternoon Visit**…read more For my Vermont portion of the roadtrip I really wanted to visit a maple syrup farm. I called the day before to confirm hours and inquire on potential tours and they indeed were in operation despite the cold season. We arrived around 1pm and entered the small gift shop which had their maple syrup on display in various sizes. They also sold some Vermont made Jam, homemade magnets and some other souvenirs. The shopkeeper greeted us and agreed to give us a tour and educated us about the maple syrup process. She took us out back and told us and showed us the blue pipes that transport the syrup to their backhouse which then heats it up so all the liquid dissipates. At the end of the tour we got to sample both the Medium Amber and Dark Robust syrups. My friend and I definitely preferred the Medium Amber. I bought small maple leaf shaped jars as well as the maple candy to bring in my checked bag and my friend asked if they could ship his gallon to California. This maple syrup has a more molasses taste to it and I think I'm ruined on store bought generic maple syrup lol. Overall, a fun visit!

When we first started coming to the orchard, there were only the old orchard trees. Even then it was the nicest pick your own orchard that we had ever visited. They soon planted a wide variety of apple trees and the trees have grown to provide a wide assortment of apples types of all types that are at low easy to reach elevations. We love being able to pick apples that are nicer than you can buy in a store and it usually takes less than a half hour to pick two to three bags. In the Fall we love the view from the orchard of nearby mountains with the leaves turning colors.
