Wanted to love this place so much. Love supporting local places. Perhaps the team was short handed or just had the weekend blues? Super bummed I didn't look at my receipt more closely was overcharged. The prices seemed a little higher from what other farm stands charge. Perhaps it's the season? Or maybe the cost of living is just adjusted accordingly because it's more remotely located? We're here regularly when we're in Vermont. It's definitely worth stopping by; even if just to look around. "Farm Stand" is a bit of a misnomer. This location has fruits, veggies, a bakery, ice cream, some snack foods, a small selection of beer and wine and a few greenhouses. We've sampled a lot from here. The cookies are really good! In season veggies are always fresh and grown locally by Dutton. If it's not in season, it's still mostly local and fresh. Plants from the greenhouses that we purchased have held up well. This is a great location to grab some Wilcox ice cream. Some of the best I've ever had. Give it a try next time you stop by. Parking is right off Rt. 30 and there's usually a steady stream of customers. The business is open year round and can be a great place to swing by if you need a few veggies for dinner...regardless of which time of year it happens to be. read more

Hi!! I'm trying to leave a review for the Dutton's in W Brattleboro; I assume this is the same business. Anyway, yes, lovely produce and (in W Bratt) useful variety of basic grocery items. But I'm here to say they have a BAKERY NOW, and the biscuits are DIVINE. So light, so tasty - warm them up in a toaster oven if the Vermont family you are visiting is too traditional to have a microwave, and they will have just a hint of crispiness on the outside. Ah so great. We put half in the freezer and thawed them out and they were just as scrumtious. read more

The most amazing maple vanilla ice cream today. We got some locally grown potatoes for dinner very good mix and match of a whole different ones. We bought some sweet yellow peppers can't wait to eat them when we get home. Also bought a cheddar apple scone and a loaf of sourdough bread, can't wait to eat and update review. ** This review is for Dutton Farm Stand in Manchester, VT. I can't seem to find a listing for it, but to my knowledge, they are both owned by the same people. I'll check this one out during my next visit up to Vermont.** I absolutely ADORE this farm stand visually... Aesthetically, I love all of the produce displays... the pumpkins were clearly the most exceptional in the area that I had come across. I literally had the best time posing my baby daughter in front of their picture-perfect gourds for *ahem* endless photos. Their prices are definitely higher than your local grocery store, but that's to be expected. I bought some super fresh green beans and raspberries, a couple of photo cards created by a local artist, and a few locally made dried herb/veggie mixes. They also sell oodles of other very Vermonty goods; maple syrup, honey, cheese, homemade pies and fudge, and lots of produce. I have to say that overall I was disappointed by the freshness and appearance of some of the produce, fruit in particular. Granted, I've only visited this farm stand once, so I will definitely try it again and report back. Cute little "petting zoo" out behind the shop... bunnies, chickens, goats... (Manchester location, not sure about Newfane stand). Little samples of hot and cold cider produced here (?) were tasty and much appreciated as well. (3.5 stars for now...) read more

YICK, YICK,YICK! I bought 2 things this weekend, raspberries and a pie.I had to throw them both away. I washed the raspberries and tasted one- I spit it out. I tasted another & spit that one out too. They tasted like an odd sort of pepper, far from farm fresh berries. I threw them away. Then I took my strawberry rhubarb pie & put it in the oven Out it came looking a tad too shiny. I tasted the crust, it was bread dough not pie crust :(... OK, I had no choice but to slice it & serve it. Then I thought...I'd better taste this as well. Yup!!! Just as awful as the raspberries. The pie's filling tasted exactly like the fresh raspberries I'd chucked -pepper! I think my purchases were heavily sprayed with pesticides. I was lucky enough to have some vanilla ice cream and maple syrup to serve for desert. I love Vermont and it is full of great farm stands and farmers markets. Skip this place. read more

I can't believe they got so many negative comments... I had a very good experience here. I bought some apples, they are really good. I didn't buy any dessert but I tasted the macron, it's really good. And I tried the cheese, it's good too. Plus the owner is very nice, she told me how to get on the high way from there because there's no signal for GPS:D read more

We stopped here during our, hate to admit this, annual leaf-peeping adventure into VT. I get cider and cider donuts and every farm I visit (this year, this was the only place). The cider was good - I've had better/had worse. But the cider donuts were some of the most unusual I have ever had. I'm about 90% positive there was clove in the donuts. I don't mind clove in a lot of foods, but this was weird. I'm not saying the donuts were bad, they were just weird. There was a huge bakery section of this joint that looked delicious, though. Maybe I shoulda tried something else. read more

I'm surprised at the low ratings for Dutton's. I stop here regularly on my way back to Mass from Bennington. I think the value and quality is spectacular. I recently purchased beets, beans, a giant gorgeous head of cauliflower (for $2!) and squash for about $8 total. Everything was fresh and delicious. There are other places I stop for baked goods, so I can't speak to whether or not they are fresh, but I have purchased cheese (like the extra aged cheddar that doesn't normally get "exported" out of the People's Republic...) which was excellent and not expensive. This is a farm stand, not a Whole Foods, so I guess I would recommend shopping here for traditional farm stand items. read more

AWFUL! Nothing is fresh. I looked at the pies to buy for a dinner pie. I saw mold! The tomatoes all have bruises, and the employees look depressed. I've been to both the Brattleboro stand and Newfane. Newfane is so dirty! How can they stay in business with so much filth? Not impressed. read more

Stopped at Dutton Farm on my way back to NH! They have fresh grown tomatoes and apples that were amazing! The staff was friendly and helpful! Couldn't resist buying a jug of maple syrup! So great to be in the beautiful state of Vermont! I don't get up this way often enough but I can guarantee that Dutton Farm will be a sure place to stop next time! Loved it! read more

Love this farm stand in Newfane! Sure it might be a little more pricey than a grocery store, but there's not much for grocery stores in this particular area, and I'd rather stop here anyway when passing through. You can buy farm-fresh fruits and veggies in season, plus staples like bananas and lemons. Also milk, eggs, and other necessities. The pies are DELICIOUS and not overly sweet, and often still cooling when you purchase it. They always have different tempting baked goodies depending on when you visit - sweet and savory scones, mini chocolate cheesecakes, doughnuts...all fresh baked and tasty. Homemade breads, which are offered in a smaller loaf size which I really appreciate, are wonderful. Their cookies are also very good, and again, not overly sweet. The cider is also tasty, and reasonably priced. I can't say enough good things about this place, and look forward to becoming a regular! read more

We bought a quart of "VERMONT" maple syrup at Eastern States Expo in Springfield MA. IT WAS LABLED DUTTON FARM STAND NEWFANE VT. It was not labeled for quality which really surprised us. When we opened it the syrup was very very light colored and watery. We paid a premium price for a less than premium product. Very disappointed with Vermont syrup. We sill stick with the Dark Amber Grade A from BJ's. read more
