I had Clear Lens Exchange surgery performed on July 22nd. Even though I didn't have cataracts I…read morewas seeking an option to eliminate or reduce my dependency on glasses. Since the surgery wasn't medically necessary, I paid 100% out of my own pocket for the surgery. I had Radial Keratotomy (RK) eye surgery in the late 1990's and that presented in itself some additional considerations for me when selecting surgical options. I am based in South West Michigan and met with 6 or 7 different practices in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, and Michiana (I.e. South Bend, Elkhart, etc.). Boling Vision Center listened to what my goals and expectations (I.e. outcomes) were for having the surgery. I was very impressed during my initial consultation with Cindy prior to setting up an office visit to meet with the Dr. After consulting with the Dr., we reviewed multiple options and it was determined it would be best to wait for 6 months to see what lens advancements / new product launches would be available. At nearly the 6 month mark I received a call from Dr. Boling who explained the details surrounding a new lens that had been approved by the FDA. After speaking with the Dr. I returned for a quick office visit followed by surgery the following week. I am beyond happy that we waited for the new lens to become available. The surgery for both eyes was completed the same day and I didn't experience any pain whatsoever. The surgical staff who I worked with during the prep and post-op were extremely professional and very good. The post-op included follow up visits the following day, 1 week out, and 1 month out. At this time, my vision is clear and I do not need to wear glasses whatsoever. The benefits of this surgery should last the rest of my life. Even though the surgery was not covered by Insurance, to me it was worth the cost. I can't say enough about my positive experience with Boling Vision Center. Everything from the initial consultation to the surgery, and the post-op follow up appointments has been great. I have now met with multiple doctors from this practice and I can tell you they have all been extremely thorough and detail oriented. Dr. Richard Boling, the surgeon who performed my surgery is seriously an Amazing Dr. and someone I immediately felt comfortable with. Another plus for me was to see that Boling Vision Center is committed to the latest technology/innovations in eye care. Selecting the right practice for me to have my eye surgery was something which was extremely important to me. I invested a good amount of time in meeting with different practices as well as researching all of the different types or surgical options available. I strongly recommend Boling Vision Center.

I had a cataract removed from my right eye. Bolling encountered a "floppy iris" during this…read moresurgery. My iris was damaged. There is equipment the surgeon can have ready to deal with a floppy iris, but, as Bolling himself said, it isn't cost effective. So disregard claims of "state of the art" equipment. Furthermore, at my day after surgery appointment Bolling's first words were, "You're right on target." It was only after I said I couldn't see much with my right eye that he explained the floppy iris. Bolling then told me that he could perform laser surgery to "clean up" what he was unable to finish in the original surgery. I paid $268 out of pocket (and I suppose my insurance paid a lot more) but the laser surgery did no good. He then explained that when I got my glasses it would be much better. And, he would give them to me at his cost. I still had to pay $348 out of pocket and the glasses do no good. I have a cataract in my left eye but Bolling will not touch it.

Kessler Crane undoubtedly makes some decent products for cinematographers (or so believed by the…read morecommunity), but they fall far short with their customer service and dishonesty. Some time ago, I ordered a Philip Bloom Signature Pocket Dolly. Great product as advertised, except I received a blatantly defective model. Having contacted customer support, sent numerous back-and-forth emails between support techs, and even made a video outlining the defect in my received product, they finally agreed to exchange my Pocket Dolly for a new model, requiring me to ship the item back at my expense. For what it's worth, the issue I was having was that the slider was "catching" or "sticking" at a certain point on the track, even creating an audible click as it did, not allowing for a consistent and smooth slide. I shipped it back and re-received my Pocket Dolly saying it had been "repaired." Their promised "item exchange" has now turned "item repair," and I got my original Pocket Dolly back with the same defect. Upon contacting Kessler Crane again about the issue, they said they had been unable to re-create the problem I had, regardless of the fact they had said they'd REPLACE my item. This time around, I had them send another Pocket Dolly as I held on to my original so I could make sure I'd receive an entirely new product, not trusting them to not scheme me again. After having finally settled this ordeal, new all-terrain legs were released for this Pocket Dolly model. I contacted them again hoping to be able to upgrade my legs at less of a cost, especially because it took so long to settle this mess, but nope, no can do. Figures. Decent products per se, but a lack of customer support presence. I will be steering clear of this company in favor of Cinevate. My Pocket Dolly is already on its way out to welcome in a Cineslider.
