The nearest theater to us was Consolidated Theaters, located at the Kahala Mall! If I'm being honest, this theatre is pretty old and dilapidated! There was a funky smell in the air as soon as you walked into the theater (old and moldy). The paint on the railings as you walked up the stairs to the theaters was peeling off and rusty (not aesthetically appealing at all). Service was quick and easy. Prices were reasonable ($15 per adult). And the popcorn was about the only thing that was fresh and good, sadly! I will say, the seats were very comfortable! We had leather seats that reclined and personal cup holders to place our beverages (that was pretty awesome). The movie itself was the real highlight of our experience. Spider-Man Brand New Day was the best one ever! Can't wait for the sequel... oopsy! Spoiler alert!

The prices were a little bit cheaper due to it being a before 4pm showing. We easily parked outside the theatre. We got a large bag of popcorn and a drink. The prices seemed reasonable to us. The viewing theater was cozy and clean. The projection was good and so was the sound. Our recliners were a little sticky but I brought a towel to sit on. The air conditioning was perfect. We enjoyed our movie and will definitely be back.

What could make it better would be getting food delivered to your seats but we're not at that stage yet. I don't go to the movies as often as when I was younger. Partly because movies nowadays have a somewhat quick turnaround being accessible on subscriptions like Disney plus. Ticket prices have gone up too. Although we don't go often, the experience does become extra special.

HOWEVER, we did one lap around and ate some other food: TAKO4U: It was the first time I had Tako4U and we had the Yakisoba and the Most Valuable Chicken (aka MVC, which was Karaage Chicken) with the Honey Mustard mayo. I didn't get to try the Yakisoba, but the Karaage Chicken was really yummy. The mayo and karaage flavor didn't over power one another too much, so it was a nice balance that also maintained the crunchiness of the chicken. Additionally, I followed them on instagram and we got five free Takoyaki balls with the Yakisoba! The Takoyaki was definitely a bit bland, but still delightful nevertheless. ISLAND MANAPUA FACTORY: This vendor was also a first time for me, and I would say it was okay! I'm a HUGE fan of bao buns AND char siu, so I was really looking forward to trying their Char Siu bao buns, but it was alright! The bao bun itself was really good--quite fluffy and the perfect texture, but the char siu slices were unfortunately a bit too thick and it was cold and hard to chew. Next time, I'll try the chicken and duck, but I do think that the char siu slices should be a bit thinner! I will say that if you are wanting to try different bao buns, you are able to mix and match if you want, which I didn't know until after I ordered! THE AGUA BABE: Also another first for me, and it definitely was my favorite vendor of the three we tried today! We had the Lava Cloud, Lilikoi Dream, and Ube Paradise and ALL THREE were absolutely AMAZING! The drinks were light and such a perfect pair with any dinner/dish at the night market and their flavors were SO on point. The Lava Cloud was very coconut heavy while the Ube Paradise was mostly horchata, but with the perfect amount of Ube Poi drizzle to add a fun twist. I WILL be coming back to try all the other different flavors for sure! The vibe of the entire night market was so precious! The live music was awesome and the singers were pretty interactive with the crowd, and the family friendly vibe was awesome (there were a ton of kids having fun today which was such a fun sight to see). Even though it was my first time at the Village Market, I WILL BE BACK and will definitely be trying all the other vendors! :)

Not the biggest nor the most popular but one of the best for foodies…read more Huh? One, the market schedule is consistent. Every Saturday 17:00-21:00. Pearlridge. Old Sears parking lot. Two, it's not overly crowded, you will always find a seat in the large, covered eating area to enjoy your finds. Booze and live music a plus if you're into that. Three, the vendor list is not booked solid with regulars (ie What the Truck where you will see the same vendors event after event). This means lots of new, first time vendors or those from other parts of the Island who can't get a spot at the sold out, established markets. A reliable IG post of the exact vendors who will be at the Market the morning of allows preplanning; who to visit, what to eat, even if it's worth your time. Additionally, the price to be a vendor must be low meaning generous portions and reasonable prices (if you attend a lot of these events around the Island, you'll quickly learn when the price of participation is high, food quantity drops and prices are several dollars higher). Add a great layout with plenty of space, a handful of family friendly vendors, and onsite local kine friendly security and it's a solid experience. So yeah, not the biggest, nor the most popular but one of the best for foodies.

I was bummed out that I didn't have the opportunity of attending the Yelp Day at the Movies: Pan which started at 10am. My luck turned around when I received confirmation that I was chosen to attend The Scratch Paper Sketch Comedy Show at Kaka'ako Agora which started at 8pm. I traveled from Waianae to Kapiolani Boulevard/South Street via the Country Express Bus. From there I walked it to Kaka'ko Agora. I must have been so excited to attend that I arrived at 6:30pm and the establishment was still close. To kill time I ended up walking to Highway Inn on Ala Moana Boulevard to have a light dinner. Fast forward to 7:30pm...the establishment is finally open to welcome guests. I walked into the partial warehouse area and noticed two tables with chairs facing the ocean. There was two rows of chairs facing the mountain. Individuals who showed up at the comedy show were able to sit in either of the two rows or on the wooden benches against the wall. The lucky Yelp attendees and walk in tourists were greeted by Kimee who is the founder of the Improv Hi. She explained to the audience what the event is all about. Think of it as Saturday Night Live only with live actors from Improv HI reading from the manuscripts in the rough draft stage. I liked few of the manuscripts that the actors did: a) The Starbucks versus Dunkin Donuts coffee with the radio news. b) The boyfriend and girlfriend in a meeting with a relationship counselor c) The owner of a dog asking his neighbor on the whereabouts of his dog...the neighbor says that the dog is playing with his children and the dog tells the neighbor that he enjoys watching college football instead of the NFL. The event also consisted of several short comedy sketches and films that the audience were able to watch on the wall from the projector. One of my favorite comedy sketch was a video that starred comedian actor Kevin Yee in which he sang about Gay Love. A catchy tune "You can't get pregnant from gay love". Jason Lind was the guest musician during the event with help from John LeBlanc. They performed several times after the live short sketches. Overall it was an awesome event even though the live performances was in the rough draft stages. I'm curious on how the final short comedy sketch films will turn out....better yet I would love to see the actors perform the scenes by memory. Mahalo Yelp Hawaii and Improv Hi for a night of music and laughter. Awesome work by the actors reading the sketches for tonight's The Scratch Paper Sketch Comedy Show. Awesome seeing Jay T., Terry H., and Darin O. at the event. It was great meeting Sophia D for the first time in real life. Made a new friend in Ku'uipo D as well.

Kaka'ako Agora is a really unique location that looks like a warehouse turned into an open theater. They seem to support many 'ARTS' events- and HI Improve is able too to take advantage of this great location. It is really near Fisher for those that use that as a location reference, and street parking is almost always a must. Check in was wonderful getting a chance to say hi to Kimee who puts on the the events like 'The Scratch Paper Sketch Comedy Show' and other Improve events here in HI. Basically the show was organized as a cross between Saturday Night Live and the tv show based off it called 'Studio 65' where actors read the scripts instead of totally acting out the full dress performance. There were more than the 2 musical numbers included on SNL at the event here- which added depth to the event that people may not feel when watching SNL on a small screen tv. Live guitar in this setting pleased too the crowd. So well done. There were performances of the live 1st years HI Sketch Comedy Event filmed at the Dorris Duke theater. Those shorts were my favorite comedy bits. The event was a teaser and to draw interest from others in HI that love comedy and hopefully will garner more interest. Mahalo Nui Loa Yelp Hawaii - you da bes'! Mahalo Nui Loa Kimee + Improv Hi for a night of music and laughter. Awesome work by dedicated lovers of performance arts made for tonight's "The Scratch Paper Sketch Comedy Show" not just possible but a huge success.

What a great opportunity to see several Ghibli movies at the Historic Hawaii Theater. Guessing…read morethat most people attending have already seen the movies at least on DVD, but to see it on the movie screen is a great treat that cannot be missed. The real question for many is which movie to see (if not all, right?)- in our case we decided to see "Spirited Away". This has always been a personal favorite and we were lucky to have seen it when it first came to the big screen in 2002. They also have special items for sale on the second floor connected with the Miyazaki movies. Many talented artists have their wares displayed for purchase (Support local!) and as a bonus- they have a free photo booth that takes three pics and includes a Film festival header pic. Nice memento of the festival. Side note: We have been to Hawaii Theater on many occasions but for live performances. Back in the day, before it was saved from being demolished I would go to see Saturday morning kids movies and monster/ Science fiction movies in middle school. The theater is great, restored to it's former glory. The sound system is great, the ushers, concessionaires, and everyone connected with the program is top notch and mostly volunteers. This is a well run operation and is a great venue to enjoy live performances and film presentations. The Miyazaki Ghibli Festival presented by the Hawaii Theater Center is indeed special and very enjoyable. There is one more movie offering on Sunday, 7/10. Check it out if you can. Shout out to Art + Flea for putting this event on with with the help of Hawaii Theater! Some food vendors outside, with a semi-long line for tickets at the box office. I really liked being able to pickup tickets at Will Call! Thanks Yelp!! I really liked seeing so many kids and families here to spend sometime together and watch this timeless classic.
