John was so helpful to us today. We were considering purchasing a used car and brought it to Hi-Tech Addison Auto Repair Turns out the car was a dud. John didn't charge us and told us if we had any other cars he would check them out. We went to another dealer and found another car. We brought this one and after driving it they put it up on the rack. Bingo! It was a good car! John was very disrespectful and did a lot of cursing because I told him what the dealership explained to me about the type of transmission oil I needed. He thought I was "talking down" to him but I was just trying to get a clear understanding about the oil that they were using . I would definitely no recommend anyone to come here. They like to do things there way and if you try to inquire about any parts of oils they use he will get offended and deny service. Also he like to makes threats and then call the police and act like a victim. First of all I was recommended by another company to bring my car to you, and I did . You spent time and did work on my truck to tell me you were not satisfied in your work, and you did not charge me because you told me i needed a engine. Then we took my Wifes care to you for issues with not starting. I have 2 issues but I understand you need to make money. I dont get why a refurbished alternator for a Volvo is 650.00 when thru napa the most expensive one was 450.00?? Also I did mention why there was numbers coded inside the engine compartment on both vehicals. I know its your way of tracking the vehicles you worked on, but I do not like it, Is there a way of removing those numbers?? I like your honesty and the way you do the all around vehicle check and let us know what might be needed. We appreciate that. I t is hard to find a honest up front mechanic these days!!! read more

I have been customer of Hi Tech Auto for numerous years, and I can always count on exceptional care and service for all of my family's vehicles. And on a recent visit, Hi Tech delivered once again beyond my expectations!! I was in for a vehicle inspection of not just 1, but 2 cars I was considering purchasing for my young son. John and Jim both took the time to conduct a thorough inspection top to bottom, of both vehicles, even pulling me in back to educate me on several of the components, while pointing out any specific issues on each vehicle. This allowed me to make the most informed and safest decision on the right vehicle purchase for my son. And I walked out of there making a different decision than I originally expected, because I was able to correctly adjust the final purchase price, based on the additional repairs costs provided for each. They also helped me determine which might provide the best longevity as well. Let me tell ya, it is the best feeling as a (single) mom, knowing that I can fully and confidently trust in their recommendations and opinions. 7-23-2024 I brought my Audi in because my brakes were squeaking, and I needed new brakes put on. We were quoted a price of $1900.00, and were told the price was high because ALL AUDI PARTS HAD TO BE USED. I left after that install, and the brakes were STILL SQUEAKING. My husband put a call into John, and was told to continue driving the car for 500 miles, and if the noise continues, to call, and get back in. After a couple of weeks of complete embarrassment, we called, and got the car in for the 2ND TIME. AGAIN, after that visit the brakes were STILL SQUEAKING. I put a call into John, and he stated if I felt comfortable, to go to an empty parking lot, get the car to 40-45 mph and slam on the brakes. Do this a few times, and that should wear in the brakes. I didn't feel comfortable with that so I brought the car in for the 3RD TIME. John said he was going to sand down the brake pads. AGAIN, after I left the brakes we STILL SQUEAKING. My husband called, and complained to John, and he said he would order softer pads. After a week or 2 from not hearing anything, my husband called John. John stated he had called my husband 3 times the week prior. Come to find out he was calling the wrong #, which is interesting because we've been there numerous times with other personal cars, and work vehicles. John had told my husband to let him know when we wanted to come in, and he would save a rack, and put 2 guys on the job, while I waited. I called 9-9-2024, and spoke with John in regards to setting up a time, and date, for the 4TH TIME. He asked about me coming in the next day, and I couldn't because I was getting a shipment I needed to be around for. I asked what about mornings, and he said mornings were bad. He asked about 9-11-2024 arriving between 1:30-2 pm. and I stated "I would be there at 1:30 pm". I arrived for my SCHEDULED DAY AND TIME, and John approached me and stated " YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO CALL 30-45 MINUTES BEFORE COMING HERE". NEVER WAS THAT STATEMENT EVER MADE. I told him I just spoke with him on the 9th and we AGREED with the date/ time. He stated " WE DON'T MAKE APPOINTMENTS HERE, WE'RE AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP. AS WE GET PARTS IN CARS GO ON THE RACKS". He then said "he didn't have a rack for my car". I stated "YOU HAVE MY PARTS, AND WE HAD AN APPOINTMENT". I asked how long before he could get to me, and he said "at least a 1 1/2-2 hour wait if not more". I left, and my husband called and spoke with John. John stated WE CAN HANDLE THIS ONE OF 2 WAYS, I can give you a refund: and my husband cut him off and said done. We want a refund. We received a check in the mail for $590.00. There was a letter attached stating the issue was caused by not using original dealer parts (as suggested), but instead using second market parts as we requested. THIS IS A BOLD FACE LIE. WE WOULD NEVER REQUEST SECONG MARKET PARTS WITH SUCH AN EXPENSIVE VEHICLE. AND THATS WHY INITIALLY WHEN YOU TOLD US $1900.00 AND STATED IT WAS THAT HIGH BECAUSE THEY HAD TO USE ALL AUDI PARTS; WE DIDN'T COMPLAIN AT ALL. This is John trying to DEFLECT BLAME FROM HIMSELF. HE KNOWS HE JUST GOT CAUGHT. As a follow up, I took my car to AUDI, and he USED 2ND MARKET PARTS, AND SOME AUDI PARTS. NOT ALL AUDI PARTS WERE USED AS INITIALLY AGREED TO WITH MY HUSBAND WHEN DISCUSSING PRICE. There is nothing worse than a DISHONEST BUSINESSMAN. I would be VERY CAUTIOUS using Johns services. This place really can't be beat. It's been several years since I started coming here, so I wanted to update my review. I used to work right around the corner and they would give me rides to work and pick me up when my car was finished, which made getting my car repaired rather easy. When I started working and living farther away, it made it difficult. But even though I now live and work in Chicago, I take time off and arrange for rides from friends so that I can get my car repaired by guys who are going to do it right and won't feed me a bunch of bull. Having a mechanic you can trust is priceless. The effort to get here and the fact that it is NOT the cheapest place can be daunting. But I have never been disappointed. John and his guys stand behind their work and the parts they use and they don't cut corners. I don't fear for my safety when they've worked on my car. And I never feel ripped off or pressured into unnecessary repairs. In fact, John will be straight up with me when something isnt working but really isnt crucial, and he lets me know if a repair can wait, and prepares me for potential upcoming needs. They have an auto credit card now, too...in case you need to finance your repairs...which is very helpful. Serious bonus, I love seeing John's dog Sonny Boy when I come in and having chats with him and his wife. This is not the type of establishment where you are just another face/car/dollar sign. I really feel like the Hickey's are a trusted part of my family. I hope to God John outlives me and never decides to retire because I don't know what I would do without this place! I have tried finding dependable car care closer to me and have been burned. I will keep coming to Hi Tech as long as I'm driving, and as long as I can make it out to Addison, even if it means paying a little more for a tow or an uber home. read more

What I thought was a good inspection turned out to be terrible. Was told the brakes were new, a week later found out the pads were new but the rotors were old, it was a pad slap job. Also found out the exhaust pipe was rusted and needed replacing. Almost $4k of repairs that went unnoticed. Also was contacted multiple times by the business owner and threatened to sue me for leaving a bad review. I have upped it to 3 stars as they were helpful on the day but I'm still dubious with the quality of the inspection. read more

Does not honor warranty's. Two issues regarding the same type of situation. Would not correct a repair completed 6 months prior and wouldn't honor a lifetime warranty on tires purchased in the same year. Owner totally non-professional. I just found my mechanic!! It's hard to find a good and honest mechanic especially being a woman! I read the reviews on Yelp and google before I called and let me tell you, every single review is 100% on point!!! I called on a Wednesday, took my car in Thursday and It was done on Friday. A few words come to mind when I think about high-tech auto repair of Addison, Illinois, integrity, honesty, professionalism, all around nice people to do business with! I took my vehicle to High Tec after Jiffy Lube blew my engine. Not only did John and his crew fix my vehicle flawlessly and do a complete engine swap. They held Jiffy Lube responsible even though Jiffy Lube is one of their major clients, I was very concerned when Jiffy Lube forced me to take my vehicle to their mechanic. John reassured me right away that his integrity cannot be bought. He kept me informed every step of the way and put my mind at ease. Called Hi-Tech this morning to get an alignment done on my daughters car. I spoke to John who was very friendly and said I could bring the car in today. Within a couple of hours of dropping off the car John called to let me know what the car was in need of and went into great details on his recommendations. He was up front, honest and very friendly. Hi tech auto repair is where you should take your car. I had taken my car to my regular repair shop whom I have been going to for many years and blindly trusted. Some of my family members and friends had their reservations about the honesty of CATS Auto Repair of Schaumburg, so when confronted with a surprise $3700 repair job after a routine oil change appointment, I wisely went for a second opinion at high Tech auto. To my delight the professionalism and honesty of this facility save me $3700 because there was nothing wrong with my car, (outside of needing new windshield wipers...$35). The owner was very disappointed in what happened to me because the integrity of the auto repair business means a great deal to him. God bless this owner. These guys are truly unbelievable and one of a kind. I was driving cross state during a typical Chicago Storm when my car started acting funny on the highway.... The car kept vibrating and it felt like a tire was going to fall off any second now. I found this shop randomly on Yelp. I got off the highway and headed to the shop. They looked at it immediately because I was in a hurry..... I mean they literally dropped what they were doing to check out my car even though the shop was very busy. My car was in such bad shape that I thought I would have needed over $1000 worth of repairs. Turns out I had ice accumulation on my tires and shocks, which was causing the problem. They told me that this was nothing to worry about and that the problem was rectified itself shortly. They sent me on my merry way and didn't even charge me. God bless these guys. read more

Outstanding service! Our minivan started smoking under the hood around Rt. 64 and Rt. 53, and I was referred to Hi-Tech, which was a short drive away. John and the guys (even though they were very busy!) immediately brought the van in, diagnosed a small leak, had a hose delivered within 30 minutes, and we were out the door in about an hour total - and the price was GREAT! Hi-Tech is the best place to take your car. They're quick. They're Honest. Their cost for repairs are reasonable. Their parts and labor are backed up by warranty. They're friendly. They have great customer service. John and his crew will fix your car problem for good. They are straight forward. They will tell you what needs to get repaired and what could wait a lil longer till you have to service it. They will call and stay in close contact with you and give you updates and details on what's going on with your vehicle. I've been going here for about three years now. With different cars. All repaired and never had the same problems again. Recently I took my new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee to get repaired. It had a light that would come on and off.(ESP light) they fully diagnosed it. They found out what it was. But not only that. They also called a local Jeep dealership for me and found out the part was still under warranty. So John recommended I take it to a Jeep dealership so they can fix it,for free!. I don't think any other auto shop would have done that. They would have repaired it and CHARGED ME! for it. Charged me for something that my vehicle was still under warranty for. So I appreciate that these guys were honest. My car is now fixed. My car started making the worst noise around 3pm on President's Day and I didn't want to drive it home on the highway 25 minutes b/c I wasn't sure if I'd make it or do more damage. So, I called Hi-Tech, brought it in around 4pm and they drove it for me right then and there, diagnosed it (thankfully something minor that actually went away on it's own) and gave me the reassurance that I needed to make it home. They also instructed me on what to do if, by chance, the issue came back. They didn't charge me and did all this despite them being obviously busy! Really, I was so thankful. So happy I found this place. I had a nail in my tire and wanted to find a place near work. Read all the great reviews and they were correct. I called and no one answered. 30 seconds later I got a call back from John, that's when I knew this is where I'm taking my car. I feel bad as this review is a long time coming and this shop deserves the best reviews possible. I HATE dealing with my car because I'm somewhat of a moron and I do the bear minimum to keep my 99 Honda Civic running. With 155,000 miles and going on this car, something is bound to go wrong. That being said, a couple months ago, smoke started emerging from the hood of my car at 8:00 am on northbound 355. No bueno. Got off at Lake St and went to Yelp to see what was in the area. HiTech had the best reviews and I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Destroyed radiator still smoking, I coasted my car to HiTech. I will sum up my experience with bullet points. * First 5 minutes the car was inspected and determined that the radiator was indeed shot. * bit the bullet and ordered the new one * radiator was ordered and installed in just over an hour * I was actually charged LESS money because the guys in the back installed the radiator in less time. YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT. I WAS CHARGED LESS MONEY AND HAD GREAT SERVICE. * I was at work only 2 hours late because these guys worked their ass off for me to get my car fixed. Let me know where you can find a better scenario. I highly doubt you can. I don't write many reviews but this shop deserved it. I was actually feeling guilty because it took me so long to do this. I was referred to John at Hi-Tech Auto in Addison by my friend whose husband is in the truck repair industry (Great Lakes Auto in Addison). I asked her if he worked with any honest mechanics who do a good job. Right away she told me about John at Hi Tech Auto. I called John for an car inspection and he was able to have me come in as soon as I wanted. I am planning to drive from Chicago to LA so I wanted to have my car checked before making the big drive out there. When I arrived, a young man got to work right away inspecting my car. While I waited, I was able to see how professional and friendly John was to his customers. While I waited (only 20min) 3 customers came and went and seemed like they had been going to John for years. Now I know why. Once the inspection was finished, John went through everything with me making sure I understood exactly what was going on with my car. The inpection was free (!) and all I need to do is bring it back for a tire alignment and coolant when I am ready to take my road trip to LA. I felt his prices for those future services were very fair. He didn't pressure me to do anything now and made me feel completely at ease. He even gave me his card in case anything does happen out in LA so he can talk to the mechanic and make sure I don't get taken advantage of out there. I was very impressed by the level of service and attention I received from Hi-Tech Automotive Specialists, Inc. The owner is a hands on technician that reviews all repairs. He also takes the time to make sure you understand what is needed and why. Several years ago I was an executive for a large Auto Repair Service company (M***S) and never received this type of treatment or quality of service. I was also tired of drinking the BMW Dealer Kool-Aid so I started shopping around. My sister recommended Hi-Tech Automotive Specialists, Inc. because of her great experiences. At first like everyone else I was nervous of taking a $60K BMW anywhere else other than the dealership. I was impressed when he had someone in house that specialized on BMWs. Probably the best autoshop in Chicago area! Very honest, very professional and quality work. I took my car here for an oil change and some check up (which they do for free) in 2013. John told me my car is not fit for a three hour road trip to Wisconsin during winter. I still went ahead coz I'm a gambler of chances (not proud). I ended up having a broken transmission but back then I don't know what's the problem. I don't know what to do or how to fix it. I decided to call the car guys that I know. Their shop is the 2nd number I called. John made me describe the noise and the car gyrations and he gave me an educated guess of the problem. He asked me if I'm ok, gave me a fair estimate of towing from 100 miles and ask about my well being.
