Fun, retro movie theater. And the new addition to the backlot is nice. Always a treat to go to a movie here.

When so many movie theatres are going hi-tech with reclining seats, food service at your seat, etc. It's such a relief to find an authentic movie theatre from the 50's when people went to the movies to actually watch and enjoy a movie. I'm from Northern California and this theatre reminds me so much of the Palo Alto Theatre in Palo Alto. I cannot say enough about the great experience I had at the Hi-Point Theatre. The place is very clean, restored, and just so quaint. Although I was stag (seat for one) this theatre is the perfect place to bring a date. Staff was super friendly and the popcorn was delicious and served with plenty of butter!

    Hi-Point- a city jewel!

UPDATED: still a solid five stars! You have to experience both old and new theatres. Here's a few pics... ********* I love both theaters. Yes, I did say BOTH! We're all familiar with the theater that is stuck in past time in an awesome way. However, check out the Back Lot theatre. It's located in the building directly behind the main building. It's located on the second floor. The theatre is very small, maybe 10 rows so you need to get tickets in advance. I totally recommend this little jewel!

Great old theatre! Very big auditorium but the popcorn and drinks prices were excellent # Highly recommend you see a movie here!

I love the Hi-Pointe Theatre. In my opinion it's the best place in St. Louis to see a movie. It's the kind of theatre movies have been seen in forever. No stadium seating and who doesn't love turquoise vinyl? So last Saturday was my first time though at the Hi-Pointe Back Lot Screen. What a nice job they did on this building. It's very cute and the theatre is small but very nice. Of course I will be back!

The HI Pointe gets five stars because it's such a fun and unique cinema experience. They're committed to what they do, and they do it well. I really enjoy seeing movies here. It's unlike any theater I've visited. It is like stepping into a time warp, back to the 1950s. The upstairs bathrooms are a must-visit, if only for the free candy. Did I just admit on the internet that I eat free candy I find in semi-public bathrooms? Yes, I did. Oh, and parking across the street at the bank is free after hours, just don't block the drive-thru ATMs.

Old-fashioned theater and that's a good thing. The people that run this theatre care about the patrons.

The movies here are less expensive, with movie popcorn, friendly competent staff (don't forget to tip) excellent audio, comfortable seats, and before I saw the best documentary (The Myth of Pruitt Igoe, our meeting group the Midwest Sociological Society put it on) they had a live organist playing show tunes. But, when you buy tickets ahead of time some of the theaters are misaligned with the options with online ordering. The seat i selected did not exist in the actual theater. The other thing? This is semi at the fault of the theater, but the other movie goers are not super considerate. I saw marty supreme recently and multiple times people were having full volume conversations, walking in and out like crazy, and had their phones on the brightest level playing on them. I hope they start enforcing some movie etiquette. All in all, a convenient and lovely movie theatre that is my go to! Once more ya can't find a cheaper theatre! No frills, easy, boom!

Of all movies I picked Mandalorian and Grogu. They did limited food and drink items, which is so fun and mayhe geek out. The seating did seem to confuse some. Our seats said 623 and 624. The auditorium is 8. Your next number is the row and then the actual seat number( hope this helps for those a bit confused) ex ours said 8623 and 8624. Prior to the show they had some silly madlibed star wars relatable things. It didn't bother us about the warming if you're not compliant with their rules, you may get booted out. They also give you a heads up about their 18% gratis added. What did mess me uo is we had more than one person bringing us the food etc which makes it a bit tough to know who to tip. We parked in the main lot that's used for the city foundry. It's advised to get their half hour prior. So we did have time to kill. Walked in the food court to see what they had and places we may check out. The staff was super friendly and welcomed us. They explained how everything worked. No one scanned our tix, so not sure how they knew who was suppose to be there or not. I ordered the little group shake ( shakes are highly recommended here) it was good. It was a mint shake with lime. Just the right amount. Had a margarite style pizza I was full after two slices it wasn't bad. Husband had their loaded fries. He aid they were good and he was happy they had one of his fave beers on draft [ he said it was rather pricey] you may want to ask for the glass frosted if you want it cold. Our movie was being shown in the big showroom, which is a bistro style movie. You can order food and beverages. They have QR codes to scan We enjoyed the movie and the old movie posters and vhs tapes. Some may find the bathroom arrangement a bit different as its unisex. One side for stalls and the other urinals. For a one time experience we were satisfied. I say give them a chance. Don't always fall for the older reviews =]

We went to see Michael, the new Michael Jackson movie, and it was excellent -- we both enjoyed it from start to finish. The theater was clean, comfortable, and the whole experience reminded us why Alamo is always a great choice for movie night. After the movie, we stayed in the City Foundry to grab something to eat. With so many restaurants to choose from, we walked around for a bit and ended up at Kalbi Taco Shack. Great decision. My wife ordered the shrimp tacos, and I had the chicken teriyaki rice bowl with vegetables. We both had lemonade, and everything was delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, and the service was friendly and quick.

The seats were comfortable and roomy, and the movie was really great, but we wish it was longer. The only issue was getting back down in the the accessible elevator. It was full of people with strollers and no one would make room to get my Dad in his scooter on, so we stood there for 20 minutes while elevators opened and closed in front of us until there was one empty enough to get inside. People should be more mindful... if there are eight people in an elevator and only one is pushing a stroller, the other seven people really should get off the elevator and take the stairs if they are physically able to make room for someone in a scooter or wheelchair.
