Though I HATE having to carve out time to go sit in a nail shop, I always feel better when walking into Hi Nails and being greeted by familiar faces. My mother and I have been visiting Hi Nails regularly for over ten years. We know all the nail techs by name and they know ours too. They remember all our little nit-picky particularities and always deliver! I've had to visit other nail shops in the past when they've closed for holiday or vacation and I've ALWAYS regretted it. The best spa services and customer service has always been provided here... they even have clients who've moved across the lake, to Slidell, etc and STILL come all the way to Hi nails to get their nails/toes done. If that doesn't tell you about the quality of work they provide, then I don't know what does. read more

This place comes with excellent reviews and a referral from an associate. The door sign reads, "walk-ins are welcomed" but I was turned away because I didn't have an appointment. Yikes right?? I suppose I'll be making an appointment. I can understand that businesses have to change the way they operate due to this seemingly never ending pandemic. However, a courtesy sign reflecting that change would be nice though. read more

I came in for a gel mani with star designs, but they told me it would be 80, I do pay for art and quality but I also wanted a pedicure and to leave a generous tip so I decided to just get a nude colored gel mani it was acrylics 25 gel 15 and the to paint my toes it was an extra 15 as well, I liked my nail technician, he asked me if I felt okay multiple times and I'm grateful for that. I've been going here for many years now for my pedicures!! The technicians always get my toes right! Clean and crisp gel toes everytime. Other than the actual service, it's super clean here which is something that is VERY important to me. You can see that the instruments are well sterilized/autoclaved and sealed in sterilization pouches before they get to the actual seat. The nail techs are very nice and they have plexiglass dividers for covid 19 reasons as well. I usually call ahead of time to make sure it isn't super packed, so I would recommend. They accept walk ins and will usually take you in immediately if they aren't crazy busy! Prices are not too crazy either. This is my spot and will continue to go here for quite some time. read more

This is a pretty good nail shop. Best one in the area where there isn't much to choose from. I enjoyed the services and the prices are reasonable. I gave 3 stars because I went in on a Saturday and it was extremely busy and they don't have a sign in or an organized way to keep track of who should be serviced next. This caused some confusion. Also my nail tech was kinda rough and I ended up with a stinging cut in my finger from filing too rough. I know it was an accident so I will likely return. If you go here tell them to be gentle and avoid busy Saturdays. read more

I come from a family with nail technicians but didn't have time to do my nails that week. The woman who did my nails did it to the T! It wasn't a sloppy quick job even with customers coming in consistently every few minutes. I came in on Dec 14 around 120 and got a quick gel polish + toe polish. I was in and out even with it being busy! The way she filed my nails was my ideal version of square. Everyone was nice and worked together so well. 2 weeks later (today is Dec 28), my gel nails ARE STILL ON! Even with my doing heavy duty things at work, etc. I will DEFINITELY be back! I've been coming to Hi Nails religiously since 2014 and I can't say I have a single complaint. In a pinch before I've had to go to other nail shops since then and I'm always reminded of the level of quality I get only at Hi Nails. I mainly do gel and not only does their gel last but their prices are very reasonable. They are always happy smiling friendly and offer you a drink when you get there. I've been coming here so long I can't believe I never reviewed them on here. Just went there today for a full set of acrylics and a pedicure. That total came to less than $50 which I think is fantastic. As soon as you sit down they offer you a drink. The pedicure chairs I have a massage back which was turned on immediately. I have not been that relaxed in months. The pedicures they are very meticulous with and don't miss a single step. Exfoliate, sugar scrub, massage, hot towel ...the whole 9 yards. My manicure came out perfect. She was very careful and still did it quickly. I know it's going to last at least 2 to 3 weeks...they do every time I go. You won't regret going here. They also do a great job with waxing...I've had my brows done here multiple times. read more

It's a clean, quiet little salon on the West Bank that I will definitely be back to when I have time to beat the CCC Bridge traffic. If you're a fan of OPI (which I am), they have a pretty decent nail polish selection: mostly basic pinks, reds and darks. They didn't have my favorite colors Chocolate Mousse and Nomad's Dream, but I settled with some other similar colors. The staff is really pleasant and had no issue adjusting anything from pedicure bath water to my request for very thin, natural looking acrylics. The biggest con for me was their attempt to do my acrylics while I was still getting my feet done. I can understand if I was in a rush and requested it, but I was just puzzled and told them I would get it done after my pedicure. Of course, I was sad that they didn't have my favorite colors :( The best thing about this place is the pricing. 50$ for a mani/pedi and acrylic full set. I didn't catch my manicurists' name, but it's the only male there and he was a beast at doing my nails. Made them natural and just how I like them, and did it literally in 30 minutes with no errors. I am obsessed with my almond/oval shaped nails, and everyone is complimenting me on them. read more

I went here as a recommendation from a friend that's been going here for a long time. It's a small place and they were busy but I was taken right away. I got a gel manicure. A man, one of the owners, started to do my nails until a woman finished the pedicure she was doing and came to finish them, she was also an owner. They asked with I wanted anything to drink and made small talk and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say. They were nice. The manicure came out so wonderful. It was an amazing experience and wonderful work. I've worked in a nail bar and a nail bar and spa before and I've seen MANY manicures, good and bad, this was a great job. NO COMMON COURTESY. I usually go to L'amour Nails in Metairie, but i have since moved across the river to Algiers. Soo i researched a bunch of nail shops near my new location and went through a bunch of reviews. I was really hoping to find a more "upscale" nail salon. After looking over all of them i decided to go to Hi Nails in Gretna. I went there today and I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED at the LACK of Customer Service and honestly the complete ABSENCE of common courtesy. I walked into the Nail salon Today, it was pretty busy but the Nail Techs and what appeared to be the owner (asian guy maybe mid 30's seated at the first booth) all made eye contact with me but did not speak...AT ALL. They all kept looking me over, but never verbally acknowledged me. No on said Hello, how can we help you today, what will you be getting done today, NOTHING. So i asked the lady next to me, had she been waiting long, she said no...i asked her was their a sign in sheet? She said no. Soo..i observed the clientele and made a observation that MAJORITY of the clientele while i was there was Caucasian/Hispanic.(i am African American) So i decided to wait as i was puzzled no one had the decency to verbally ACKNOWLEDGE i was there after looking at me repeatedly. I was ready to leave at that point, but i purposefully waited to see if the next customer that came in would be greeted or not. And sure enough, the next person that came in was Caucasian and the guy who appeares to be the owner PROMPTLY spoke to the woman and asked her what she would be having done today! At that point i politely got up, excused myself out, and left. I couldn't believe it. I literally FELT they did not want to service me. I drove 25 minutes to metairie and HAPPILY spent $120.00 for the treatment & quality service im accustomed to. I wont ever go back to this shop, and i wont recommend it to any one. Im honestly not leaving this review for potential customers, im leaving this in hopes that the owner reads it. Because you cant treat people like that...you just cant. Sorry...Not Sorry. read more

So, if you would have asked me how I liked my visit here the day I went or even 3 days later, I would have told you that I loved it and it was one of the best pedicures I'd ever had. I had every intention of going back. The lady who did my pedicure did a great job, was really friendly, and took her time. My feet hadn't felt that good in a LONG time. The problem? Fast forward 4 days later and I HAVE ATHELTE'S FOOT. I have never had it a day in my life and after going there my feet started peeling out of nowhere. My doctor deduced that it more than likely came from there. So no, I will never be back and I will never recommend it to someone. I love this place. The equipment is upscale for this part of town (in my opinion). They operate quickly but do a great job. I've only had experience with gel manis and french tip pedis so I can't speak to their skills elsewhere. $30 for a mani pedi on week days, plus $18 for gels. I saw someone said it was $15 but I was billed $48 total, soooo. Yeah, not really a place to sit and chat but they are friendly and like to get you in and out. read more

I went to this nail salon every other week and loved it. This week I went back and got the same thing I always get, a full set with gel polish. It's always $26. I go today and they say $36. I was shocked and confused as to why it went up and Nikki the owner said it's always been that price. Then why have they been charging me $26????? Then she continues to be rude and petty to me because I was asking why it went up. Don't go here unless you want to be lied to about the prices. read more

Went here because my mother-in-law goes here and I'm in town visiting. When we arrived, I told one of the techs there what I needed (a fill, 1 nail repair and gel polish). She told me to pick a color; I did and had a seat to wait. There were 5 techs seeing 5 customers so clearly I knew there was a wait. Instead of telling me to either come back or give me an estimated time it would be until I was seen, one tech told me to have a seat at a station. She then began to set the station up as if she were getting ready to start my service. Instead, she set the station up, then walked BACK to her client and continued their service and just had me waiting...what? Why not tell me to come back in a few hours or tomorrow or simply let me know how long it would be. I've always had a tech communicate with these things with a client. Customer service alone, it was NOT a good experience for me. read more

Went here for the first time today and absolutely loved this place. Had a manicure and pedicure and was out in a hour. The only minor complaint I had was that while my manicurist was doing my cuticles, she went a little too far and cut me, and I couldn't stop bleeding. but other than that, great place and I think I found my new nail salon home. read more

I have been going here for years and have been very satisified until now. Eeveryone there is very nice and polite, but I am not going back anymore. One of the ladies that was doing my pedicure cut my heel (this is the 2nd time) and I was bleeding all over. I told her that she cut me and she just said she was sorry. I kept telling her can you please put something on it?? All she did was put vaseline on it and kept apologizing. I couldn't even walk on it. I also was getting my nails done that day and when I went to pay, they didn't even offer a discount or anything. I am not one that will complain and want something for free, but this was ridiculous. I had to keep telling them that the lady cut me and it really hurt. She was still going to charge me full price. Finally after telling them I was not coming back, they took off $8, yes, $8 that's it. Every time I get my eyebrows waxed here they are different depending on which employee does my eyebrows. However, I always ask for them to be cleaned up and not too thin. I will say that it never bothered me that much before that the results were always a little different because I was still moderately pleased with the results but today will be the LAST TIME I EVER go to this place. Prior to going in, I knew that one of my eyebrows naturally grows thicker than the other. The employee noted this as well. I expected her to match the thicker one with the one that was thinner. She spent alot time plucking my eyebrows and did very minimal waxing. Plus the wax wasn't really warm at all. Long story short, when I got home and took a look at my eyebrows intently I realized I have TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT EYEBROW SHAPES. It is awful and now I will have to fill them in with lots of makeup and make sure I wear my hair in front of one of my eyebrows so it is not noticeable because it is that awful.
