I purchase a 14 kt. yellow gold mounting from this Jeweler in 2000 and had him mount my 1+ carat…read morediamond in the ring, I took it back to him last month to have the gold bezel around the diamond replaced, when I picked up the ring, paid him $200.00 for a new bezel and got home I noticed there were open spaces around the bezel that were not there before and also the underside was missing the gold bar for a prong setting and the underside of the ring had been hollowed out and the gold melted away. I wore and cleaned this ring for 12 years and that is not the way the ring was brought to him, I asked him what happened to the gold and his reply was to let more light in for the diamond . I returned the ring and he filled in the gold around the gold bezel so their was not any open spaces, but did not replace the gold bar or gold that he melted and removed from my ring. Before you take any jewelry to this place be sure to take pictures of it so you do not get taken like I did, that will be the last time I do business with that store

Then when he went in the back to weigh it and calculate what he was going to offer me, he came back out and offered me a ridiculously lowball offer. I literally felt insulted. usually local businesses will be honest and fair but this wasn't even in the question with his offer. A fair offer when selling scrap gold Jewelry is 75-80% of what the national average is for that day. He offered me less than 50% and I had to haggle with him to get him to give me 65%. I understand that they need to make a profit as well to stay in business but to try and make a quick 700$ off 1 sale for scrap Jewelry is ridiculous. I brought my gold here because everything I read & somewhat knew was that a Jewelry Store will offer you the most reasonable offer for your scrap gold jewelry, because they have the most knowledge and that's what their expertise is. That they would be the better pick over a pawn shop. I was terribly wrong. The guy was overall a nice guy, but not a very honest and fair business man. So if anyone is looking to just sell scrap gold for cash, I'd recommend trying somewhere else.
