Visiting from New York and traveling the country and world I can honestly say this is one of the best vintage consignment stores I have ever been to. The volume is tremendous. The selection is exhilarating. It is a good thing I do not live in Cincinnati for I well I'd probably go broke. In addition the owner of the store is wonderful and so is her little friendly dog. I had so much fun I went back again but she was closed. I purchased an adorable little hat, and a beautiful black blouse. I must also mention the stunning and unusual artwork she also had for sale. She also has housewares downstairs and some furniture. If you love vintage and new edgy fashion go to. My second review a few months later. Wearing my new Italian Shirt Passion dress from The Most wonderful vintage store, which also carries new and fashion forward clothing as well. My last evening with my darlin out on the town dining at Sotto, it was a perfect dress and a perfect night.

    Nice collections of vintage jewelry!

This is probably the best high quality vintage fashion store for both men and women in Cincinnati! Unlike some vintage stores in town, this shop is very tasteful and well-curated. Even if you are not really in the mood of buying anything, it is worth just stopping by and looking at the exhibition of the vintage goods! What I like the most about Hi-Bred is that it has a "wide" collection of vintage jewelries, and they are beautifully curated and displayed! (Go for those "drawers" and pull them out! It is a treasure!) Their collection of hats--both for men and the women--is outstanding too! If you are a vintage lover and also find mall-shopping boring and un-stimulating, do stop by Hi-Bred! You will not be disappointed!

I love all the variety and hard to find items. Everything is in good shape and fair priced. Though most of the sizes are small.

We rented some beautiful pieces for our show this month, and Marianne was amazing in getting everything set up and ready for us. When returning most of the items, I made the mistake of returning a shirt to the wrong location, so I had to come back the next week to complete everything. I was ready to pay an extension fee, but she was kind and allowed for that margin. We had a dress and lace-up shirt to bring back as well. My mother dropped off the dress first, and was told sternly by Nancy there would be a $40 damage fee. I wasn't sure what that was for, so when I stopped by to drop off the lace up shirt, I asked. I have a new costume team, so if mistakes were made, I want to make sure they know where they must improve. I have no problem paying the fee- prices here are very fair- but something happened after I asked what the fee was for. Nancy stormed away without speaking a minute, planted at another counter, and then proceeded to tear into me, loud enough for the room full of customers to hear, and potentially even the adjacent room. I think she somehow concluded I was trying to get out of a fee, which upset her. Despite me trying to communicate that wasn't the case, not only did she stop listening but she threw insults. A few of Nancy's choice sentences: "You are so snooty" "Your energy is killing me" "Has anyone ever told you that before? It's true" "You sound so snippy" "Everything you say is so passive aggressive" -I replied I was being genuine, she said, "I don't believe you." "I have been doing this for 40 years so if there's an issue I know it's not me." "Blip blip blip blip" (mimicking me talking and cutting me off for asking where to drop off the final shirt this week) Even if I was trying to negotiate damages, you still shouldn't use public shaming as a tactic. The customer is not always right, but I do believe that standards of mutual respect should be held in all interactions. Marianne was kind, professional, helpful, and honestly made the magic of clothing and performance come alive for me and my cast that came with me. Nancy was hostile, insulting, aggressive, and never even created space for response. I do have the interaction recorded, so all details can be corroborated. I'm not the person to post it (public shaming is not my method) but I'm happy to share the recording with the owners for reflection. I do hope moving forward that a space where artists can create that much magic together can also be a space of safety, gentleness, and mutual respect.

Each area is categorized by color: blues to the right, browns and whites straight ahead, violets in the back of the store. Open doorways weave in and out of the dividing wall, allowing customers to float freely from continent to continent... er... section to section. Beautiful, plush scarves caught my eye, as well as some of the old writing table decorations. One room in the back was filled with an assortment of accessories, like jewelry, hair barrettes, and hats. Incredibly well organized, this shop is like strolling through a fashion museum. Prices were a little higher than expected, and although there were two salesladies in the store, neither of them acknowledged that I was there. That bumped Vintage Marketplace down to three stars. I'd still stop back for a browse though. The window display changes frequently (and, in my opinion, is the most elaborate in Hyde Park), so something new will likely draw me in again.
