More than a filling
Brandi C.

A cute, yummy cafe that's right beside the Olympia farmers market entrance. On an absolutely pouring day, having a warm breakfast hit the spot. For a to go box, there is a charge for them, but the items are packaged very nicely. As seen in the pictures, the paper underneath kept the box from getting soggy and the cream is packaged individually to keep the Belgian waffle nice and tidy. Syrup is packaged by yourself in a separate small condiment container. Each order was made fresh (about a 3-5 minute wait) and definitely showed in the taste! The Hot Mess had perfectly crispy hash browns that as complemented by the slightly melted cheese and creamy country gravy. The sausage patty helped add a nice salty flavor too! Overall was very tasty and made wonderfully. It wasn't that oily or salty, yet the items were fried to a delightful crispiness and the gravy was the perfect texture. As seen, it did not drain through the paper and held its shape. Oh wow, the Belgian waffle was great too. At first, I wasn't a fan of the cream underneath the strawberries, but the waffle had a salty kick to it! I was surprised by the saltiness and realized the tartness of the strawberries, the sweet cream, and the condiment toppings are really what balanced the salty Belgian waffle into a very heartwarming dish. The waffle was dense, crispy, and chewy! It's filling in its own right but it's manageable to try another entree eat along with it. Price wise it's pretty affordable! Two dishes for about $15 with the packaging expenses included. For people that are in the farmers market looking for a filling meal, I definitely recommend trying HeyDay. Also, the promo menu showed a 20oz veggie smoothie for about $6? Looked delicious too!

I ordered a latte and a chai tea, both with almond milk substitutes. The chai tea is on the sweet side but is very pleasant. They have food and drinks for everybody, and they were happy to make my orders dairy free! This is a great way to start adventuring in the Olympia farmer's market- their menu is both informative and entertaining-we loved the names they had for their foods. While I only ordered drinks this round, I will be eating here in the future. Check out how cool their menu is!

Jumpin Jack Hash

I was very happy with our food from this little farmer's market spot! We also ordered the peach milkshake, some smoothies, a lox bagel, waffles, and my Jumpin Jack Hash (see photo). The peach milkshake was OK, nothing to shout about, but worth a try if you really wanted it. I was very happy with my caramel latte. The hash and lox bagel apparently looked so good, during our meal, a few different people interrupted us to ask where we got our food and which items they were. HIGHLY recommend this spot. I can understand that during their BUSY hours, things might be different and service may not be as great (based on other reviews), but this was a great spot. We felt really happy with the customer service and super satisfied with our meals. DEFINITE spot to hit up when you're looking for something a little different. :)

Happy waffle!

I think the earlier you come to the Farmer's Market the better the food is. Once the lines start up, you are doomed to hurried workers trying to sling food as fast as they can in hot cramped booths. So with that in mind, I came early and had a waffle. Yes, the smiley waffle plate picture was my breakfast on a Sunday around 9am. Everything was good, the ends tender, and the bacon hard and crispy like I like it, rather like a giant bacon jerky. My waffle was crispy and tender inside. The butter was buttery. The ice tea was fresh. My only thoughts as I sat and thoughtfully waited for breakfast was they have WAYYYY too many choices of entree for a small food booth. Just the sheer amount of switching and foods they have to have on hand must be insane to manage. But on the upside, must be great for picky people who are afraid of ethnic food or seafood. The cute "hippie" names are cute, but I'd narrow it down to the best sellers and make it easier for the cooking staff to do a super job.

Heyday Cafe is open Saturdays 10 am to 3 pm for the Winter Market.

Heyday Cafe is open Saturdays only for the Winter Market. I had the grilled cheese sandwich today. The bread was crisp and buttery. The cheese was melted to perfection. You can choose to have bacon and tomatoes in your grilled cheese. I chose the diced tomatoes. If you like coffee or other hot drinks, this is a good place to go. They have hot cider, various types of coffee, and hot teas including herbal teas and chai tea. Heyday Cafe doesn't take cards. Please remember to bring cash.

Food was relatively fast. The price was reasonable considering I was full afterwards. The names for the items are really weird so I can't seem to remember what exactly I had ordered.

Nothing like a bagel before power-shopping at the market on a sunny Saturday. They also have many other things - but I keep coming back to the bagel. Always friendly.

Hot mess! Delicious!

I think I got the "hot mess" which was an egg, cheese and sausage patty, smothered in gravy and sandwhiched between two hashbrown pattys. It sounds messy but it was actually pretty clean and DELICIOUS! Check out the pics. Even my fance who can't stand greasy/messy breakfast foods loved it! It was very fresh and flavorfull! You gotta try it!

Cranberry, cream cheese, and lettuce wrap.

I've eaten here several times -- breakfast and lunch -- and the food has always been good. They have a nice selection of sandwiches and wraps...and they even have chocolate malts. That's next on my list. Today I had a cranberry, cream cheese, and lettuce wrap, and it was tasty. A good place for a quick bite when you're in the market.

I'm updating my review because I've tried this place under different circumstances. Crappy day when…read morethe weather makes everything depressing? Happy tummy. Solo? Happy tummy. Rumbly tummy? Happy tummy. Literally, every single time I come here, I leave with a happy and slightly over full stomach. The wait is getting a little longer these days because I think people are catching on that this is the place to make your tummy happy, but if you want a retro boho style atmosphere with some of the best breakfast/brunch/lunch you've EVER tasted, you NEED TO COME HERE AT LEAAT ONCE IN YOUR LIFE. And if the French bread is on the specials, get one piece to share with your dining companion. If you aren't fighting over the crumbs and syrup, you just aren't doing it right.

Now that I've tried it I can say that this is hands down the best breakfast place I've tried in Olympia so far. Unless you're there when they open, you're gonna wait because this is a small restaurant with a lot of people who want in. They have a nice seating area, but it's small, so you might have to wait outside. As soon as you walk in, put your name on the list because even if you're okay with sitting as at the counter, you have to check in. After a 15 minute wait a table next to the window cleared up so lucky us. Sis got the poached eggs on toast and she loved it. She also got the lavendar latte and we both don't really like lavendar, but this drink was lovely. I got the traditional breakfast with eggs, chicken apple sausage, toast, and a side sald. My dudes, you have to get the side salad. The carrots are finely grated and flash fried so the topping is slightly crunchy. Put that with the pepitas and a lightly sweet, creamy dressing and you've got heaven in your mouth. Even the toast was buttered perfectly and the right amount of toasting so that it was delicious with butter and with or without the jam. As soon as we were eating was as soon as we were already making plans to return. This place is the best.

Cool cafe with pretty mid food…read more The ambiance inside is really relaxing; plenty of comfortable seating with plenty of plants around to make a warm and inviting space. The cafe is attached to a store, but that doesn't really affect the cafe all that much. The tablecloths used have a tendency to slide around very easily. We got the tempe blt panini and tempeh Ruben panini with their fries. The fries and ketchup were the best tasting item. You can add extras to the sandwiches, but that gets pretty pricey pretty fast. I added on avocado for $2, which was left off my sandwich so be sure to check that your food is correct. They did give me a small cup of avocado when I went up to the front, but I unfortunately did not notice it was missing until I had already eaten half of my sandwich. The food itself was a bit greasy. Not too overwhelming, but enough that it affected the meal. The sandwiches are pretty small, but filling enough for a lunch sized portion. Beyond food, everything else is self service (water, napkins, utensils). Not bad unless you have limited mobility, then it will be difficult to maneuver around the tables to the small cramped corner that everything else is located. When a gentleman asked the staff if they would bring him a fork (needed assistance walking), the staff only pointed again where the utensils were located before walking away.
