For starters, I've been going to this store for so many years I really can't say. But it was owned then, by a ex cop named Bud. He sold it to a family, who has run the store since. The owner Cathy and I had a few disagreements over the years. But one thing I called her on quite a few times, was the expiration date on some of her items, that were way past expiration. I don't know who runs the store presently. But for sure the practice of stocking items past their expiration date, carries on. Tonight I asked a friend to get me some flour tortillas. When I saw what he brought home, I was appalled. The outer edges of the tortillas were hard, so I checked the expiration date on the package which said they expired 10/13/2023. My friend said the guy may have mentioned something about the date, but said they were the only ones available. I have to ask. Tortillas are a popular item. I'm sure they sell out of them quickly. So how was it that the only package on the shelf expired in October 2023 ? The nerve of these people is over the top of any scandalous business practices I've ever seen. Check your expiration dates on everything. Even at your corner store. Call them out on anything they do that's the slightest bit unethical. They make a ton of $ off of us. They should treat all customers and especially the regular ones with respect and appreciation. If they can't/don't want to, they should get out of retail and go back to wherever they came from.
