My car was ready when I arrived at the location, but when I looked at the rental agreement, the mileage on the agreement was several hundred miles less than the mileage on the odometer! Christy was able to fix the problem quickly and send me on my way to Tampa, where I returned the car with no problems and no surprises. Her customer service skills seriously should be studied; she possesses the ability to make you feel comfortable with interacting with her because of her amazing personality. While waiting for the car to be sanitized and detailed, I observe the three managing this Hertz location work together to help their clients get in and out in a timely manner, while preparing the cars to head out. Rented and paid on line to pick up car at this location. I had to hire an Uber just to take me there. When we arrived, the building was closed/locked (mind you it was well within the operating hours). No note on the door or anything. I called the phone number, and so did my Uber driver. Needless to say, I had to hire the uber to take me back home. Poor or NO customer service!!!! I, for one, will never rent a car from Hertz. I switched to a whole different company after this. Avoid this Hertz if possible. I reserved a car a few weeks in advance, it wasn't ready at the reserved pick up time. I waited about an hour while they said it was getting an oil change (wtf!) There were no other cars available. The car I received was fairly old and banged up. The worst rental I've ever driven. A warning light came on in the car while I was driving it (for no reason), when I called hertz they said they had no other cars to exchange it for and that I should call roadside assistance. Then they said the light was not a problem and just keep driving it. I did and the light eventually went off, but so crazy. Never experienced a car rental like this, was like a scene from a bad movie. Maybe the Hertz at the Savannah airport is better, but I unfortunately arrived too late to pick up from the airport. read more

I called to ask if I could move my reservation back by an hour at 1:00, I was told that they were waiting on cars and that wasn't an issue. I called back at 3:30 and they told me they were still waiting. I asked if my reservation would be honored and they said they were doing their best. So I blatantly said will you have a car or not. I was told they would call me back when the car was available. Around 5:00 they called and said it was ready. When I arrived I waited for thirty minutes. After they were "upgrading" me to a better car. Still not the car I reserved. And added $40 more dollars to the reservation for fees that were understandable but not available online so that I was prepared. FUCKING HORRIBLE. read more

This place is very unprofessional. They give you information over the phone regarding your rental, but when you get there, they state your rental is not there. I had someone drop me off an hour and a half after the car was supposed to be there and the car was still not ready. They didn't call to explain the delay. I am done with Hertz. We rented a car six months ago at the Savannah, GA airport. The car had over 20K miles on it. Dirty when we picked it up. It was 6:30 am in the morning. No attendant in the lot. We had a minor hit and run. For six months Hertz was worthless in contacting American Express and USAA. I did all of the legwork. In the end, those two companies would not pay Hertz the "junk" fees. I mailed the credit card authorization form. Hertz said they did not receive it. I faxed it. Hertz says they did not receive it. There was $100 administration fee - I should have been credited the fee given the hours I spent on this. I will be taking my car rental business elsewhere. Hertz should have written the $217 that we were fighting over and kept a customer. They don't care. read more

We had reserved a 15 passenger van, and we picked up a 12 passenger van. We didn't notice immediately- until the 13th kid tried to find a seat. They would do nothing to remedy the situation. No apology. Would not give us back our deposit for the unusable van. I specifically asked every time I talked to someone for a FIFTEEN passenger van. We called enterprise and they found us a van within 2 hours, and we were in our way. Will never use hertz again. read more

I received both helpful and courteous service at this location. On top of the great people I dealt with, I learned that they are also reliable and very honest. After returning my rental, I realized the next day that I had forgotten certain items (including cash) in the glove compartment. I quickly called and asked them if they had found any items. Customer services is non-existent here. Rented a car for 10 days through AAA, arrived for my Standard Size car and they tried to give us a compact for the same price. If I wanted a small cross-over, they might consider it, but they would have to charge me an extra $15/day. Had 5 employees standing around with not a clue what to do. Poor way to run a business. I made a reservation a month in advance, called to confirm and showed up at the correct time and was told they did not have a car for me. I waited an entire hour and still no help. I ended up having to rent a car from another location and pay 3x as much as my original reservation because it was such short notice. I will never rent a car from Hertz ever again. As a Savannah local I book a 2 week rental vehicle online 5 days in advance. The day of pickup, I arrive on time, he shows me to a sub compact Chevrolet Sonic, I am thinking, ok, didn't I book an intermediate size but he BSes me that I am being "upgraded" to a "compact premium" size vehicle. It is really in bad and unclean shape inside and some of the belongings of the previous renter are still in the vehicle e.g. someones nasty looking flower bracelet hanging off the rear view mirror. The first day of driving it, the check engine light comes on and stays on, next few days it starts driving erratically on the highway. Final straw, I put my wife's shopping bags in the trunk and we are shocked to find a still WET red brown fecal type stain (dried stains are a normal part of car rentals). Make the fatal mistake of observing an email address on his business card, think to myself I won't be obnoxious and demand his immediate attention, I will email him a list of issues I am having with the vehicle he gave me and ask him to exchange it for a clean and serviced vehicle of the ordered intermediate size. Fatal mistake, the guy doesn't check his email or doesn't respond to emails so 24 hours later I am calling him in the morning him asking him if he got my email, naturally he denied receiving any email until prompted a few times when he admits he did receive an email after all. So instead of offering me the basic courtesy of another more suitable clean and serviced vehicle, the guy tries to re-assure me that it has been serviced recently and why don't I bring it back to get the trunk properly cleaned shampooed while I wait (like I have nothing better to do). I ask him if it has been serviced recently why does it drive so badly and why is there also no windshield washing fluid left in the reservoir, no response. So I ask him when the next properly cleaned and serviced vehicle will be available to be replace my bad vehicle, he gives me more BS about how he does not know when customers will return their vehicles and when that might be. So I tell him abruptly, why don't you call me later today when you have something in that is more suitable to what I ordered. So, come 3pm no phone call so I call him back again and ask him when a replacement vehicle, he repeats the same BS that he has had no vehicles returned since this morning when I first called and that he cannot predict a date and time when a suitable replacement will be in for me to pickup. So I tell him that this would insult the intelligence of a five year old and tell him that I am returning the vehicle and that I don't expect to be charged for this experience. I then forward him a screenshot taken from carrentals.com saying exactly when a suitable replacement vehicle would be next available (the next day), again no response. I return the vehicle before the end of the day and spend the five minutes before my wife picks me up scanning the parking lot where he claims to have no suitable vehicles available, spotting at least 10 or more suitable replacements that are unused. I guess it is more important for them to massage their own egos than to provide basic customer service. You have been warned! read more

I am Executive Assistant for a REIT and we use Hertz at least 5 times a month, however, we will be using another rental company in the future. Hertz allows you to rent online even if they have overbooked cars (a lot of places do that, however, will give you a voucher or make sure they have an alternative plan for their consumers) which is what happened to an executive within our company. They were given another Hertz address and was told that their car was there waiting, upon arrival at that Hertz they were instructed that had the clerk at the previous location called they would have known that they too were out of cars at this location. They finally ended up at the airport Hertz to retrieve their car. Then were charged for two days rental even though the car was dropped off the next day. When I called to explain the hassle we went through to get the car and ask that they drop one day rental I was told rudely by 3 people NO. They have lost, by my calculations, $10K of yearly business because they could not credit me one day rental ($134.00). Way to go Hertz!!! read more
