I had a very disappointing experience renting from Hertz.
I reserved a vehicle online well in advance, but when I arrived, I was told the car I booked was not available. Instead of honoring my reservation, the employee informed me that I would have to upgrade to an SUV for an additional $50 per day. I asked her to look up my reservation details online, but she did not seem interested in doing so and simply repeated that the upgrade was my only option.
To make matters worse, I was told that I could not use my personal auto insurance and would have to purchase their coverage. At that point, we were in town for a football camp and needed to drive two hours, and the airport rental options were completely booked. Otherwise, I would have walked away and rented elsewhere.
During the transaction, the employee appeared more interested in chatting with a coworker about ordering tacos for lunch than helping resolve my reservation issue. The lack of customer service and professionalism was frustrating.
The unprofessional atmosphere continued when I returned the vehicle. The employee inspecting the car had their pants sagging so low that their underwear was visible. It did not create a professional impression for a national rental company.
Adding to the confusion, the location was decorated with Hawaiian-themed tablecloths and appeared to be having some sort of luau event. Combined with the poor service, it honestly made me question whether I was dealing with a legitimate Hertz location or a business simply displaying a Hertz sign.
Overall, this was one of the worst car rental experiences I've had. Reservations should be honored, customers should be treated professionally, and employees should focus on customer service rather than personal conversations. I would not recommend this location based on my experience. I will be contacting the corporate office to let them know how their business is being ran! read more
