I had a car reservation for June 22. I pre-paid for this car over two months in advance. I received NO notice by email or telephone that said this office location was going to be closed for good. In fact, 2 days ago, I received an email confirming my pick up on Thursday!When I called the phone number on the door, I got a snotty girl named Rachel from Santa Rosa, who said if I wanted a rental car today, I would have to come to Santa Rosa. That location is over an hour and a half from where I was standing. This is horrible & unacceptable! This is not good business!! When I called customer service, the customer service rep didn't even know the location was closed. He said he would cancel the reservation and my refund would arrive in 7 to 10 days! I was also told that Hertz would not be charging me the $100 cancellation fee! How gracious of them! I was, also, told that Hertz will NOT offer any inconvenience credit for the trouble they caused me. I needed this car to pick up my elderly parents for a weekend trip because they can't fit in my pick up. Our plans have been ruined thanks to Hertz!! I would NEVER recommend Hertz, EVER! read more

Horrible! I was picking up my car today and when I arrived at the place I stood there in the lobby for a good 10 minutes before I called the phone number of the place hoping it would prompt the person to come and answer the phone. When the lady did finally come in side, she was rude and short and acted like it was a burden to her to rent the car out. When the paper work was done, she said she was going to pull the car out front but disappeared for another 10 or so minutes . I looked around the building and she was hosing down the car. The car was just hosed off .. not vacuumed, not clean and was NOT full of gas. The trunk wouldn't open at first but when it did I struggled to get it closed. The dash light indicated it needs to go in for service and it runs like a piece of crap. If it were not for having to have my car repaired, I would have walked away. read more

Service is always great. Keep in mind that they don't have as much control over their inventory as you think they do. They do need to do a better job of getting the reason why a customer reserved a certain car. Are they just a cheapskate looking to save a buck? Are they traveling in an urban environment and need to be able to park easily? Are they traveling with family, and need extra space? In my case, I was traveling with family for the first and last parts of my vacation. For most of it, it was just me. That being said, a subcompact SUV is NOT an acceptable substitute for a "full size" sedan. Full size was put in quotes because the entire car rental industry does not follow manufacturers' sizing. It is what it is. To be honest, if you are that rigid, and you have specific needs, just BUY the car you need, and don't rent cars. Flying in somewhere? Do ride share, or taxi. Or...again, you're THAT rigid...DON'T TRAVEL!!! You'll be much happier staying home. read more

Worst service ever. Since I have to give at least one star... In November, fIrst gave me a car with a faulty tire. It took two more cars to get it right. Then I get a charge on my account and find out about it in December and when I called the Ukiah office, they said it would be taken care of. As I was looking through my tax documents, I realized that no refund was made. I called billing and was told to then talk to the office. I called the office and the local incompetent Eric, not only lied when he told me he would call me back in an hour, but blew me off two other time. Small claims time. read more

Rented a car from this location while my car was being worked on at G&C. These guys were on top of it. They were able to direct bill my insurance company, pick me up from G&C, I was able to leave the rental at the shop when my car was done. Super easy! Thank you Hertz and G&C read more

We made reservations for Wednesday 11/22, when we called to check in, he said that they didn't have any cars and that our reservation was for Tuesday 11/21.There is no way I would have made it for Tuesday, we were staying with friends until 11/22. I have never rented from Hertz but someone gave them my number then did not return the call so they just started calling people they thought might be the person as the person on the phone explained, so they call me wake me up I call back and am on hold for over half an hour before giving up and trying to go back to sleep so I could work all night but couldnt, then they call again and still cant seem to be there to respond on the phone, Hertz if you are going to call someone then at least be able to respond when they return the call. I am glad I have not rented a car from them because if I had a problem I would be on hold FOREVER!!! read more

Terrible customer service! I rented a car here for pickup at noon (and have always been safe to arrive late for my car rentals), got there at 1:30 and noticed that the sign said they closed at 12, but the door was wide open. I stood inside waiting for someone when a man who was about to pull out of the driveway got out of his car and came to the door to tell me they were closed and he meant to lock the door an about and a half ago. I said "so I'm supposed to pick up a car..." and he said, "well we're closed, I don't know what to tell you." He then got in his car and aggressively sped off. I'm from Texas and reserved this car 3 weeks ago for my drive to the airport in Sacramento. I would have appreciated some sort of a phone call or notice letting me know that my pickup time was actually their close time. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place is nothing but a resting stop for inbred idiots with no education. They made multiple mistakes then made me sit around waiting for over an hour before I called back to see why. Then they wanna explain everything to me when they should have done that the first time. DO NOT use this place it will only frustrate you. Now I have to figure out another way to get all the way from Clearlake to SF to get to my appointment. Hertz in Ukiah really exceeded my expectations. Checkin & checkout were hassle-free. The price I paid for a 5 day rental was less than I was initally quoted, even with the free upgrade to a Nissan Maxima. The car was in great condition and drove like a charm. They will add several extra charges that will likely exceed the actual car rental fee without asking for your explicit consent or even discussing them. When confronted, the staff flat out lie about obtaining such consent (no, you didn't). They have you sign on an electronic device, so they capture an electronic signature, and simply apply such "signature" to whatever document, with whatever language, they should so wish after the fact. NO wet signatures in any instance. Pick Enterprise, they won't rip you off. read more

I contacted the manager at Ukiah Hertz because they charged my credit card for a broken windshield that had been documented as broken when I rented the vehicle! I am still waiting for a call back from the manager Erica who abruptly told me on the phone she did not have time to help me with the refund and would call me back in a few days. This has been two weeks now and nothing. I have since contacted the main Hertz toll free number and they asked me to send documentation to them which I did. Still no word on returning my money that they took out of my account for damage I did not do. I will never rent from Hertz again! They are apathetic and could really care less about customer service. Called the manager James, and requested a rental. Best experience ever!! Have used this company over and over. One thing I have learned, if you say you are going to be there at 8:30, be ON TIME. They can only hold a car only so long. Unfortunately there are so many flakes in this world. For those of us that pay on time, arrive on time, this is the place to go!! I am going to leave 2 reviews. This will be my first, I reserved a vehicle to be picked up on a Saturday. I had to drive to southern California for a business trip, so I allowed for Sunday to be my driving day. My meeting was to start early Monday morning. Saturday came around and time was ticking for the car to be picked up. They closed at noon that day and it was pouring cats and dogs. I left my house at 10:30 am, We were caught behind a horrible car accident. It took almost an hour to get throughout. Meanwhile I called Hertz to ask them if they could stay open a few minutes after Noon, as we were running a few minutes late. I was rudely told NO. No type of sentiment or apology. I was LIVID. I had to cancel my meeting plans and wait until Monday. I also had to settle for an upgrade because the original vehicle I had reserved was rented out 5 minutes before I arrived. Ridiculous. I even had to pay for this upgrade. I wouldn't rent from my own pocket here ever again. read more

This car rental is a complete joke! First of all I reserved a car 48 hours in advance. Went to pick up a car and they tell me we have no cars! No cars for 3 more days! Really? Then when I finally get a car, my daughter had a video camera in the back window that we forgot to get out of the car, that is our mistake but when we notified Hertz they said they didn't see it in the car and then rented it out. When the car was brought back they said no camera was in it. It was in there! Someone stole it and is not saying anything! Do not go to Hertz in Ukiah they are Thieves and very unprofessional! read more

Great experience. Reading the previous posts, I thought I must have gone to a different Hertz because I have nothing but great things to say... I had rented a small economy car from the Hertz in Novato the day before and couldn't stand the cigarette smell from whomever drove it previously. I thought I would get hassled for not taking the car back to Novato but the guys at the Ukiah Hertz were very understanding (I had my children with me who were also complaining about the cigarette smell). Not only did they apologize for my trouble (even though it wasn't their fault), they upgraded me to a minivan that would have cost an extra $25 a day and gave me a full tank of gas! The experience was rather unpleasant. Here goes. in dot points 1. Made the car reservation on rentalcars.com. The address on the Booking confirmation was wrong. Luckily the local Taxi driver gave us a heads up that Hertz has moved to a different address if it is not a commercial car. It was not 100 West Mecidona (wrong spelling), but rather on the main road. 2. Booking was for 11:00am. But I went early to see if the car was ready and see if I can extend the hours. Hertz Receptionist already clocked the time upon my check in without my knowledge. (wow. this is pure desperation of starting the clock $$) 3. She pointed a car which was a 1 grade lower. I booked a LARGE sedan Chevrolet Malibu (pic shown was a 2014-2015 model) but was given a 1 grade smaller sedan, Chrysler Sebring (appeared to be a 2007-2008 model). Receptionist advised that "its similar". I know on the contract it says "similar", but that's not the same size as Malibu. 4. When she (Receptionist) advised that I have to pay extra - I challenged her, then she constantly tells me that "you should never pre-booked online", (multiple times until now, i can still remember her saying that) 5. After challenging her about the extra cost that she claimed that I only paid 50% online to rentalcars.com, and that I have to pay another 50% to her, she eventually gave in and spoke to her manager and later she discovered that it was due to her data entry starting us at 9:30am (the time I stood at the reception, NOT the time I took possession of the car - it this normal?) 6. The whole debate took us to 9:46am, I told her "well... if that is the case, I will come back later at 10 or 11am to collect the car" 7. Then she told me some nonsense... "well, I have already started your time at 9:30am, Contract is printed and I can't reverse the process". What nonsense! I did not challenge her as it was a plain BS, and we don't have the energy to invest on that. What is a contract if I didn't sign anything? She needed more training, otherwise she just go on and on talking nonsense. 8. At 9:50am, I just bit my tongue and accepted the car, as debating would only burns our energy. 9. Once agreed, she tear her so called "contract" in front of us and printed another one, and asked us to sign that copy. That's the degree of BS and inconsistency that she was not aware of making. 10. Took the car key, and get on with our day. Overall, good friendly greeting at the start. But when it comes to the "money" part, I felt it was poor customer service. maybe failed to explain the process well. They displayed a degree of business $$ desperation - and eager to get more money out of us by talking BS. Poor product and software knowledge, she constantly says "well that's what the computer stated - and thats how much you have to pay!" (which I had to explain to the nitty gritty details on our booking confirmation from Rentalcars.com that is is fully paid) Car collected was not the same size. We booked a Chevrolet Malibu and collected a Chrsyler Sebring (smaller sedan) maybe I am not a car person and really can't tell the size difference. Car had no problem. drives well. read more

I was provided a rental car when my car was in the shop for body work after someone hit my bumper. I called Hertz Ukiah asking about delivering the car which is about an hour+ from my location. The guy originally answering the phone was not very helpful, told me I would have to pick up the car at the body shop at an undetermined time whenever they were to drive it over (I would need to find an extra ride for that), and then asked me to call back in a week (my insurance company told me to finalize the reservation and call ASAP to reserve a car). Thankfully when I called back a week later I got JAMES on the phone who was friendly, helpful and made the process completely smooth. He smartly asked the right questions to match me with a similar car and put me at ease right away. He not only had the car delivered to my workplace much earlier than anticipated, saving me an extra trip to the body shop, then when my car was ready I was able to drop the rental off at the repair shop to be picked up and returned later, saving me additional hassle. His cheerfulness was an added bonus and if I ever need a car again I am hoping James is there to help! The car itself was clean, non smoking and well maintained. The paperwork was simple and straightforward, and James had set it up so all I had to do was sign on delivery. Overall a very nice experience. read more

DO NOT rent a car from this office!! I rented a car for 3 days in August and was billed for a 1-week rental. I happened to drop the car off on they day they are closed, and never saw the bill till my credit card statement came in. I called after I saw the charge on my credit card and the front desk told me it was a mistake and that I would see the credit on my card within 3 weeks. 4 months and 8 calls later I have yet to receive a credit. Each time I called, I spoke with an Erica or an Erik, who at times told me they would have to call me back because they were busy. Not once did I receive a call back. I am currently working with my credit card to resolve. BTW, it is very difficult to dispute a charge on your CC after 90 days has passed. I think the Ukiah Hertz staff knows this, so they string you along. Lauren, take my advise and work with your credit card to dispute the charge. Ukiah Hertz has no intention of refunding your money. If I could leave zero stars, I would. We called the hertz 1-800 number the day before we were supposed to be getting a car while our truck was in the shop (rear ended) and they said they would set us up for a full size sedan and that a car would be here to pick my husband up at 12:00 the following day. 12:30 rolls around and nobody is here so my husband decided to call. Supposedly they had nothing in their computer about this at all. They told him that they had a full size sedan there that he could have and that they would send somebody out to get him so that he could take it. He didn't even arrive in Ukiah until almost 6:00 at night (they are supposed to close at 5:00). To top off them wasting our entire day, they then proceeded to tell him that he couldn't actually have their one full size sedan that they promised him on the phone because it was reserved for the following day. Why they chose not to tell him this on the phone once they realized it, before or as they were picking him up I don't know. They also wouldn't give him the van they had because that was reserved for 3 days out. While all of this was going on the driver that picked him up left. So it was take this dinky little car that we're sticking you with, or you're stranded an hour away from home at night. Great. So after being promised one car and being forced to take another, now we get to waste gas money and another day driving to a different hertz rental to trade this car for a full size sedan that we were originally supposed to get and I am livid. This is a terrible business! Hertz should be ashamed to have their name affiliated wth this place! read more
