I really enjoy renting from the Hertz Seaside HLE now that this little location has reopened post pandemic and bankruptcy. They have always tried to do the next right thing when it comes to a rental - before, during and after the rental. I also like that I can avoid one the onerous fees that Corporate Airport locations tack on to recoup their supposed cost of doing business - such as concessions fees and licensing fees. (Why don't they just give you the "real" rate upfront!?) The only negative about this location is that they either don't have a voicemail box or choose not to use it. Nice and easy check in to get my car. When I turned it in I was notified that I could use a free lyft from them to get to my car from the Auto-repair place. I was going to actually use lyft after the transaction so the offer to give me a free ride through lyft was greatly appreciated. Would highly recommend again. read more

This place was top notch, front start to finish. They were kind enough to pick me up at my body shop and drive to to their Hertz shop about 1.5 miles away. I was checked in and out of there in less 10 minutes. The associate--I didn't catch his name-- was friendly, helpful & informative. Upon my return, I found the same to be true. Speedy, quick & with an attention to detail, Simone was of great assistance when returning my car. Afterwards, she offered to taxi me back to my body shop to pick up my own transportation. I gladly accepted. I will definitely be returning to this Hertz, and using Hertz in the future. We rented a car for the Memorial Day Weekend. They were very friendly but the car was not what was advertised, it was smaller. On the plus side the price was somewhat lower including a AAA discount I received. They asked if I was a AAA member so that they could give it to me. I didn't know and would not have received it if they didn't care. After picking up the car and talking to my spouse I had second thoughts about the size of the car and wanted to exchange it as we would be 4 persons with luggage for parts of our trip. They din't have the car or the same size I originally made a reservation for in Seaside or possibly at the airport. That was not as good as it could be. Additionally I am not particularly pleased with what happened after the trip. I received a bill of $30 for a processing fee due to FasTrack use. I noticed that they had charged an additional $7 + on my card and indicated that's what it was for. I sent them their $30 and I am not particularly pleased about it. Aren't they all organized and computerized so that it gets automatically handled and charged to my credit card? Then a few days later I get letters from Metro ExpressLand regarding two FasTrack violations, each $25 plus the fee. I figured I'll sign up with FasTrack to avoid the two penalties of $25. But their website is not secure. (Google browser and FireFox browser says so.) Well that is not Hertz's problem but her is the thing. I started to remember that on another trip renting from a car rental company they actually asked me if I am going to use the toll system in that area, which was not LA. They recommended to pay them a fee so I would not have to worry about the toll system and penalties, they would charge me for the tolls after and there would be now penalties. I was happy to pay for that. Hertz asked me where I am going for this trip and I told them. So, I am wondering what happened here? They are the professionals renting out cars every day. Do they not warn people about the toll system and penalties in LA? Do they not have a service for a fee for people who go to areas with express lanes or toll roads they offer so clients don't end up with expenses for violations in areas where they do not know the system? We were always 3 or 4 people in the care so I expected we would be fine in the express lanes. I had between $80 to $90 extra expenses for the trip. I definitely feel Hertz carries part of the responsibility. read more

Thank you Julio for going above and beyond. I received a rental for a week from Hertz being a AAA claimant. Four days into the rental, Julio left a message notifying me that there was a problem with the insurance (AAA) not covering the rental. I went to the office to speak with Julio about the rental that afternoon. He went out of his way and called AAA to get the paperwork straight. After he got off the phone, he told me that "it's all taken care of don't worry about a thing, AAA messed up." He also thanked me for following up on the situation instead of ignoring it. Just wanted to say that I had a great experience doing business with this team today (I dropped off car at transmission shop and needed a car ASAP). I can't remember the young lady's name who helped me but she was outstanding! Her attention to detail and awesome customer service was very good. She took care of me and I drove off with a car within 10 minutes. This was even after she signed me up, cleaned/washed car, walked the condition of the car with me and gave me a handshake and a smile. Had rented a Malibu from a Hertz location in San Jose for a vacation. The day after we started our trip, the change oil light came on and the satellite radio never worked. To top it off the car was filthy inside and we had paid a premium surcharge to get this car. We called the Seaside location and they said they would help us if a full size model came in during the day. At 5pm they called and said they had a Camry available, and we said we would come by. Due to heavy traffic it took us a little over an hour to get there and they regularly close at 6pm. They stayed open and had us transitioned into the new car in minutes. Everyone who works at this location was friendly, courteous and extremely professional. Thank you for aiding us in obtaining good solid transportation for the rest of our vacation. I got into a car accident recently and had to take my car into the shop. Hertz picked me up early one morning at the body shop where my car was being fixed. The staff was super friendly and explained to me each of my fuel and insurance options so that I would not be putting more money out of pocket than was necessary. When my car was done I simply drove to Hertz and they took me to the body shop! It made it easy and convenient and saved me from having to ask a friend to drop me off. read more

Alright, when I'm in town I am usually forced to go with Enterprise, which, despite killing brain cells when dealing with their staff, usually saves me money. I planned to do the same today, and it was about $275 for a week. I checked the Hertz at the airport, and it was $400+...no thanks. Anyway, just in a last ditch effort, I decided to give these guys a call. I talked to Brad, and he was....wait for it.... VERY HELPFUL!!! So, I ended up getting a better rate than Enterprise, better service, and I get points that at some point I will actually use. Once I got there, getting the car was basically as seamless as the airport, minus the Gold Service. If you're in the area and a Hertz customer, this place is worth a call. read more

It was an insurance rental. Since I drive a mid size luxury SUV, I called to see if they have something comparable or at least V6. I was told that an SUV requires two day notice, I agreed since I still had 5 more days to take my car to the body shop. next thing I know the customer service representative, tells me that they have one on the lot. The guy who picked me up was pleasant and friendly. When we pulled up in the lot I noticed that they had several SUVs comparable to my car, yet they offered me this small KIA piece of junk. I noticed that there was a charge XRT sitting there, and since it's a V6 I asked if I can have it. The guy who picked me up and ended up being the one who helped, suggested asking a guy he called the manager, this guy looked dirty and extremely unprofessional. He asked him as he was walking toward us, and thy so called manager just rudely replied no without even looking at me, apologizing or explaining why. I could tell that the agent who was helping me felt embarrassed and tried to tell me that it's a company issued car, so it's like the manger's personal car thus, it's not for rent!!! I've lived in Monterrey for 15, I rented so many cars from almost all of the rental companies there. When it comes to the one in seaside they have shitty cars, I have to deal with them when anything happens to any of my vehicles and the insurance company refers me to them since they deal with them exclusively and I have no choice. However, when I rent my own car I always deal with Monetery Peninsula Airport location, the staff there is extremely friendly and professional, and they also stock up all the nice cars. read more

My car was hit and I needed a rental and Hertz is what the other person's insurance would pay for. I was picked up at the body shop by a nice guy who helped me with the stuff I was taking from my car and drove me over. There were other people in line, so I had to wait a few minutes to be helped, but that's understandable. When I got up to the desk to get service, we started and the person helping me had to swap with the person helping another customer because she didn't know how to process the other person's order. Also, understandable. Finally, I'm the only person at the counter waiting to be helped and another person walks in. She immediately starts talking to my counter person, who engages with her. Now, I've worked customer service and when I'm helping someone, I help that person. I would have appreciated it if the Hertz employee had asked the other customer to wait until I had been helped before dealing with her. That didn't happen in this case though. For my processing, I was quizzed about all kinds of information despite having handed the employee everything she asked for on the sheet from the body shop, which was an ineffective use of time. Then she tells me the car I was going to get. I don't know much about cars and simply agreed. She said it was being cleaned and would be done soon. My back was killing me so I didn't sit down. After 45 minutes of waiting, a couple walked in and asked to rent a car. The same Hertz employee who helped me simply asked for a credit card and then told them about the gas payment. She then offered them the make/model car that I have as their rental. This somewhat flabbergasted me since she knew that was the car I regularly drive, but didn't offer it to me. Oh well, I thought, they'll be waiting for awhile. No, I was wrong again. They paid and walked straight out and hopped in the car and left. I was absolutely fuming. I proceeded to inform a different employee that I found their treatment of me unacceptable since I had been waiting this whole time when they obviously had other clean cars they could have given me. I was told it wasn't their fault the car they assigned was so dirty and they wanted to get it to rental level. The car finally came around, and I had the foresight to ask if the gas penalty was for me as well since it hadn't been mentioned. I was told it was. Angrily, I shut the door and drove off. At this point, it's my own fault, but I quickly discovered that even with the seat all the way forward, I couldn't reach the gas pedal. Needless to say, I didn't do much driving. Returning the car was thankfully less painful. Aside from having the most ineffective staff at checking cars in and processing people out, I completed this process in about 20 minutes. The price is right but there seems to be some inconsistency in service. Two days prior to picking up my rental I called to see if they would pick me up in Seaside. The gentle and said call the day before. I called the next morning and a rude lady told me she does not know and I would have to call the day of and they open at 7:30. I explained that someone on there staff told me to call and she said call in the morning and they are busy. I had to pick up the car by 8:30am and wanted to make sure I was on the pick up list. Booked a 2-day rental for a Friday through Sunday. The days are important to the rest of the review. Upon arrival Friday we arrived as scheduled and getting the car was fairly efficient (a couple people ahead of me). On the positive side car was clean and as advertised. We viewed the car for any damage and she noted that the tank wasn't completely full but we could return it at a similar level. This is really tough to gauge, it's a small car, and I don't have the time to really fool with this for what could save me a couple bucks. She notes that they are closed on Sunday and to return the car and leave keys in the overnight box. What she failed to mention was that with their system, this means they are checking the car back in on Monday. The system has no way to know that your original reservation was for a Sunday return and that you in fact did return it as originally scheduled. I found this curious but figured they would honor the original reservation somehow..... No. They charged me for an extra day and somehow that extra day was more than the other two days. There was no call, text, or email indicating that this occurred, they just charged the CC on file. About two weeks later I discovered this and called them. This has to be something that occurs regularly but make no effort to even so much as tell customers up front. They stated that they cannot issue refunds and that it has to be done at the corporate level. So I had to call, waiting on hold for approx. 25min to speak with a rep. They did issue a refund for the extra day fairly easily. The point being I should never have had to go through this in the first place. To the onsite reps, it's basically a computer glitch. To Hertz corporate, this is a problem that needs to be fixed as it is a dishonest practice. read more

We were overcharged (charged for 2 days instead of 1) and we went back to the location to get a refund. They made a note and said the manager would take care of it. Well, after a week or so, no refund. We called and they said that the manager must not have gotten to it yet!! They gave us the corporate billing number and told us to call them to get the refund. Wish I could give a 5 star. I rent from here often for business and leisure. Sadly, the last rental was dirty at the steering wheel(sticky) and the dash(fingerprints). With that said, the customer service here is great! It is always fast, prompt and you get greeted with a smile. They even offer rides, which is great. Just dealt with these guys recently. They accommodated me with a vehicle for a taller person. Very painless getting the vehicle (thanks also to AAA). When I returned the vehicle, I was dealt with in a prompt fashion and though I had to wait, I was showered with thanks for my patience. The lady who helped me was amazing and extremely customer service oriented and made check out more painless than before. The reason for 4 stars is named Jason. He wouldn't drop it when I didn't want to purchase any extra bells and whistles and their premium insurance packages. I kept trying to tell him it was a waste of money since I was already insured through AAA, but he wouldn't drop it. He was a pushy salesman in the worst kind of way. No means no. If you can avoid him, I would highly recommend using these guys. read more

Great customer service especially when you're busy - they're up front about car availability and wait times, also conveniently located and they can give you a ride too! (within area) . The staff is small so yeah, sometimes there's a short wait, but they are very efficient and nice. Horrible experience at this location! Stay away. I was satisfied getting a car but given one that doesn't suit me. I was told I would be called when something more roomier comes in and never got contacted. I placed calls to Hertz multiple times with no answers and to extend contract a few more days no record. The day I turn the car in corporate office sends me a letter like I stole the car in a threatening manner. I wish I can upload this document on here. My first impression of Hertz was great - great service up front and good selection of cars. I was renting a car for several days while my car was being serviced at a nearby dealer and that dealer was covering the rental (minus gas). Hertz picked me up from the dealership and it was a good rental. When I finally picked my car up from the dealer, it was a couple days after the original estimate - but was right when the car was ready. They said I could just leave the rental car there, so I did. That was my first mistake - I didn't fill the tank back up because I didn't realize I could just leave it at the dealership. Hertz charged me $9/gallon to fill it up. Grumble, but it was kinda my fault. Anyway, when I got the bill, I saw Hertz charged me the 2 extra days instead of charging it the dealer. I've been calling them 1-2 times per week for the last 6 weeks trying to get them to bill the 2 days to the dealer. Even a representative from the dealership got on a conference call and told them clearly to charge it to the dealership after Hertz stalled the first couple times. Hertz people told me probably 4-5 times they'd call be back about things, but not once have they called back. It's now close to 7 weeks past my first request to re-bill and nothing has changed. When I call they keep saying they're going to re-bill it and that they're just waiting for it to go through, but that excuse only works for a week or two, not 4-5. This is unacceptable in my book. read more

This agency has ZERO customer service. I reserved a "standard convertible" vehicle from them a week and a half ago. The convertible was specifically rented to drive students at the local High School Homecoming Parade. Since I rented it online, I even called the location and asked about it to insure they would have it available because it was a specialty vehicle. Their manager assured me they would have one the day I was to pick it up and said they would even get one from San Jose if they had too. I called last night and it was the first indication of a problem when the guy said the car I was supposed to get was towed back to the airport location because the renter allegedly lost the key. (What freaking rental car doesn't keep a back up key?) He still told me they were working on another key or another vehicle and would call me back. No call back so I showed up at my rental time finding no convertibles on the lot. I contacted the manager who apologized that they were now, at the last minute, not going to be able to deliver the car as promised and could not find one anywhere else. He told me my vehicle was there on Tuesday, but that someone from Corporate ordered him to give it to someone else. Really? Try having to explain to a high school that they now have to ride in the parade in your Toyota Tacoma! This was such a poor excuse for customer service I will tell everyone I know not to use Hertz and will report them to the BBB. They knew exactly what the car was to be used for and chose to give the car away, likely for a longer more profitable rental since I was only renting for a day. I ask you to think twice about using a company that can do this to kids. read more

I am a travel nurse and needed a car to make my rounds and see my patients but my car was having problems. I went to Seaside Hertz and Brad the manager set me up with a car for a monthly charge that was affordable. When I had to drive to Seattle, I needed a bigger car to hold more people and Brad set me up once again, found me a bigger car and got me on the road quick.
