I fell while teaching kids how to ski hurt my wrist so we went back that night returned all gear. This is where things went south. I had prepaid for all rentals for 3 days. We returned all a day early (used for 2 days but didnt use the 3rd day. Returned on day 2) and they refused to refund our last day of rentals. They offered me a store credit but we are from florida and dont know when we will be back this way. I told them i would just like a 1 day refund and they refused. They looked me in the eye and told me no, we dont do refunds. Lesson learned dont pay them up front for anything. Terrible business practice. I cant understand why they wouldnt be reasonable and refund our unused time, we returned the gear a day early, no reason not to refund other than greed. I should have rented one day and paid by the day, but didnt think we would have any issues. Totally diagusted by their greed.

He asked what happened and if I was in a safe place. He cared. The wait was still incredibly long, but the service my husband and I received when he arrived was top notch. My vehicle broke down Saturday, November 2, 2024 between 4 and 4:30 pm in Honesdale, PA. I called Geico Roadside Assistance and they responded promptly. The first company they sent to my aid was PA State Towing and Recovery LLC. They called me and said the wait would be 2 hours or more and recommended that I call Geico to send another tow truck company. I took their advice and that's when Val-u Auto was dispatched. Unfortunately, I had the same experience as my fellow 1-star reviewers: 90 minutes turned into 6 hours +. Many thanks to my husband who came to my rescue and sent me home so he could play the waiting game. I'd like to take a commercial break to thank the four wonderful people who stopped to ask if we needed assistance. You are the salt of the earth. Val-u Auto, except for Jaevin, made me feel like I was not a priority and definitely not valued. My advice to management would be to review your business plan, your mission, goals, and make some changes. This can't be the type of service you want to provide. My car arrived in my driveway safe and sound the next day at approximately 1:30 AM.

The AAA agent called back to explain that there would be additional charges from the company and that the trucks did not have 4x4 capability. I called the company to give them the information regarding our situation and the dispatcher seemed overwhelmed and came off very impatient. I can understand given it was a busy night but she could have handled the call better. When the truck arrived, the gentleman driving was truly awesome. He ensured the scene was safe and informed me of his plan. That was when he ran into an issue. The winch on the truck was bound internally and he was unable to extend or retract the cable. Having used a similar winch in the Air Force, I was able to help troubleshoot the situation with him, fix it, and he ultimately got the job done safely and very quickly. I don't know about all the drivers, but the guy they sent to help us was great! The $100 fee on top of AAA's contribution, while not exorbitant given the situation, was explained by the dispatcher as "low" compared to what it "should" be and if there needed to be any other additional steps in extracting my vehicle from the snow it would be a substantial increase in cost.
