They do offer you insurance on the vehicle, but I have full comprehensive from State Farm so there was no need. When I returned the car, I made sure to first stop at the Quiktrip gas station just a short ways down the road before I turned it in, otherwise you'll have to pay a much higher gas fee. It's best to gas it up yourself as opposed to paying a prepaid gas fee. When you pull into the return lot at the other end of the airport, you may or may not be met by a representative. If no one is there, just pull into one of the many parking slots and bring your keys and contract inside the airport to the check-in counter. If no one is at the counter, you can drop the keys off in the key drop off box. If you did any damage to the car, you can rest assured they'll be in contact with you at some point. This was a smooth transition for us and we returned the car slightly dirtier than before. 6 informative photos included.

A few issues with two different rentals in the past month: 1. Left an item in a car inadvertently. Item was never recovered. It took several calls and long hold times each time. At one point, the employee answered and immediately told me to call back later. Not a request, but a demand. 2. Went to pick up a car at their opening time of 6 am. No one showed up to staff until 6:10. 3. The number given in the rental agreement to extend a rental provides a message to call the facility you rented from directly to extend. I attempted to call for over an hour and never got an answer. Left a voice mail in the end which has still not been answered 24 hours later.

Because I needed to get around to meet someone and have a meeting or two I figured the best option would be to rent a car. When I arrived at the airport I headed downstairs by baggage. That's where all the car rental places were located. I headed to the National counter and was quickly greeted by Maddie. She pulled up my reservation. She was kind and pleasant. She let me know that they didn't have a ton of options left, and asked if I wanted a minivan. Now I would have jumped at the chance of getting the minivan had I not been the driver. So I politely declined the minivan. She let me know she could give me a Chevy Equinox, which I thought was fine. She gave me the keys, let me know where the car was located and gave me the drop off directions. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes, which was lovely. Dropping the car off was easy peasy. You just follow the signs to rental car drop off. Park in the designated National spot, and due to there not being someone outside, you drop the keys in the dropbox at the National counter inside. If I have to rent a car again in Madison, I'll use National.

In order to avoid an 'electric' vehicle option I checked the 'Managers Special' option at around the same cost. Upon arrival I was told that the special that day was a 18 passenger van! I asked if there was another option but told it would be another ~$100 more. I am a good driver and on principal decided to go out and take the van. I provided feedback upon return that I didn't not think that was an appropriate car to give out. Counter staff on both occasions really didn't care and acted so. I also filled out the online survey with poor reviews. Low and behold, 3 weeks later I receive a call that they say the van was damaged!!! Completely false claim, I think as retaliation for my poor survey response. Rude an unethical management. AVOID!
