Bottomline: AVOID renting here if possible and BEWARE the tire scam.
SCAM: Within seconds of returning your vehicle, the uniquely misshapen tires of your vehicle will be pointed out and incur a fee greater than the cost of the rental. The tires are intact and completely functional, but just odd looking in a way that only the employees know about.
ADVICE: Take detailed photos of your car on the rental lot and again when you return it to prove there are no changes. We've been told by locals that Alamo is a much more reliable rental agency in Ensenada.
SHAME: It may not be Hertz's fault as they simply lend their name to a local institution that they may or may not regulate with frequency, but they should strongly consider removing their association with these operators.
