After my experience with this Hertz I have made a decision to never rent from Hertz for the rest of my life -- yes it was really that bad. As someone who rents a car almost every other month, and whose husband also travels for business, it's a shame they could not have been decent, and instead were deceptive. They've now lost business for the company as a whole.
I picked up a car here and was asked at the counter if I needed a car with USB outlets for my smartphone and I said no, but the man working said they could upgrade my car to one that has them for no additional cost. I said sure, why not then (I have seen that sometimes 'midsize SUVs' cost the same as 'budget' cars to rent, etc. this didn't seem completely out of the norm) but then upon completion and return of the car I was charged about $100 extra for a car upgrade.
I thought there must obviously be some mistake as the representative clearly said the car (basic Nissan sedan) would be the same cost as the total I had reserved for, so I called Hertz as a gold member and asked for a reimbursement. Not only did they not reimburse me, but they said that it may be due to my car being dropped off late. I actually had dropped off the car two hours early (I always make the 'return time' the time of my flight but am usually at the airport *at least* two hours in advance, I would just always error that way). I said this wasn't true and they said the extra charge was then just for the upgrade. Needless to say, I asked them to elevate it -- it wasn't the amount charged that was frustrating as how it was handled, and I didn't feel it was even a basic level of customer service, respectfully, for someone who is paying $500 for a service. Someone from Hertz emailed me several days later that they wouldn't refund the charge again. From the email it seems they had never talked to the representative who actually handled my rental, nor was the email appropriate. Please choose elsewhere to rent your car. It is not worth the scam surprise you'll receive at the end to rent from here. read more
