When I finally got back to the branch, the person at the checkout made comments implying I should have purchased tow insurance, even though the vehicle failed mechanically. Instead of helping resolve the issue, it felt like I was being guilted for something that wasn't my fault. She then charged me for the tow, even though Enterprise did not charge me for any repairs or damages. That suggests they did not consider the breakdown to be renter-caused. Customer service told me afterward that a case would be filed, but I never heard back and I'm still trying to get the towing fee refunded. If you rent here, clarify how towing works during mechanical failures, because none of that was explained to me at checkout.

It felt like I was being pushed into an upsell, which is the last thing someone recovering from an accident wants to deal with. What truly caught me off guard was the visible travel-sized bottle of wine sitting behind the front counter -- not something I ever expected to see at a car rental business. I even made a light joke about it, trying to keep things cordial, but internally I was alarmed. The overall tone of the visit left me feeling unheard and uncomfortable. I've never had a rental experience that made me feel so uneasy -- and I've rented with Enterprise many times before with no issue. I've filed a formal complaint with corporate and hope they investigate this location seriously. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but this one was warranted. Not only did they attempt to charge all these hidden charges/fees, when I returned the car a week early they didnt even prorate the rental fee to deduct for the fact I was returning it early. We scheduled online to pick up a car at this location on Friday before work (when they opened at…read more8am) for a weekend trip. When we arrived at the location, the door was locked and there was a notice at the door along the lines of "stepped away, call (this 215 number) for assistance" so I called the number and it went to the national line. I hung up and tried again, and it went to a live person right away, who said the location we were at is temporarily closed and we needed to head over to the City Ave location for pickup. When we finally got over there, they said they had a problem with rodents but should be back at Umbria on Monday when we dropped it off. We adjusted our morning plans (now being about half an hour later than expected getting the car), went to work and then our weekend. Then came Monday morning. Gassed up the car, got there at 8am, and were not the only people standing there waiting for an employee. We told them to head over to City Ave and made our way through traffic to get there ourselves. Needless to say, I was unhappy when I pulled up in the parking lot at 20 after 8, and was stressing I'm about how to get us both to work on time with this new delay. Expressed my frustration and the guy who seemed most in charge didn't care - actually continued to write down whatever he was working on when I came in, even when I sarcastically thanked him for caring. He even had the nerve to tell me there was nothing they could do about the closed location - I suggested they call the people who were expecting to drop off or pick up at Umbria and let them know to not go there. I left feedback with the national customer service line, who stated the corporate location at Umbria was not listed as having any closures in their system, and that my feedback would be passed on to the area supervisor. Unlikely to ever rent from Hertz again - but definitely never coming to this location again.
