This time around I'm playing with one of my oldest friends. On my return to the game, I was introduced to Deer Valley, a course that is less than 5 miles from my home. What an absolute treasure we have in Central PA. This course is well-maintained and fun to play. The staff is remarkably knowledgeable and always engaging. I am a novice golfer and prefer playing solo. I usually came out around 2pm for the front 9 holes. Everything from the Pro shop to the starters to the other golfers was friendly and welcoming. For a public course it is well taken care of. I highly recommend especially because the front 9 is very forgiving with no sand traps and one small water hole.

Definitely better on the weekdays. I'm slightly torn on exactly how to raid it because I love the fact that this is about the course and I love the fact that it's under $100 to Play. At the exact same time, this course would be significantly better with minor upgrades and a simple refresh. But I really don't want that done at the expense of the accessibility and affordability... Really wonderful bones... nice views... great hole designs... built on land that it was a former iron mine, which gives it a unique vibe. And it feels slightly whiny to say it... But I was just hoping for it to be just a LITTLE bit "nicer" ... like whatever scale you rate golf courses on... I can't even put my finger on it... There seems to be no effort put forth by the Pelvo's staff or Stoner Commons ground staff maintain a course worthy of the cost to play. All it requires is about 15 minutes or less each day to walk the course with a leaf blower to create a clean, clear, presentable , and playable course. Upon complain, cashier said they try to blow it off "every once in a while, but our gas blower needs gas". Suggestion, be proactive and get gas and do it, or get a battery operated one, but who knows, then the battery might not be charged. If you plan on playing here, suggest inspection first and then decide if worth pay to play.

The only negative was the young lady who rang us up was no where to be found when we arrived and as she was ringing is up we had to tell her three times that one of the players was military she was so out of it. The prices are very reasonable, particularly when compared with prices of escape rooms where I live in California. It felt like a deal! Our group was mostly first timers, and our host was helpful, offering clear instructions, suggesting hints when we needed it, and she just made the whole experience better. We have been a member for 12 years! My husband been a member off and on for 40 years…read more We had a birthday party there last year. Everyone that came had a blast. We rented the pavilion. The pool and pool areas are clean. There is a basketball court, playground, shuffle board, & volleyball net. Grassy area to play baseball or throw frisbee. There are umbrellas and shady spots. There are three pools: baby pool, diving board area in deep end, and 3' to 5' pool with funky slides. Pizza place will deliver to the pool. You can take water aerobics classes at night. Swim lessons are offered for a price. The life guards are absolutely fabulous to the kids learning. ‍‍‍come have fun in the sun!
