I have been coming here for some years now. The fortunate thing for me I believe is that I have chosen a great place for my children to have Dental care. Every visit is a pleasant experience no matter what has to be done. Other than one receptionist which they have since gotten rid of all my visits here have been great. The worst dentis ever. Tried several times to give them the benefit of doubt but to no avail. Spent $1700 for a partial that never fit properly. Went bk several times to fix the problem. This place is horrible! I have been going for many years and try to give them the benefit of the doubt but it NEVER gets better. I had to have two root canals on the same tooth because it wasn't done properly the first time. Also, I do not believe the dentists actually care about your teeth. The dentist diagnosed me with having a cavity but would not give me an appointment to fill in the cavity for three months!!! I go there on month three to have the tooth filled and they refuse to see me because I was fifteen minutes late...there was no one in the office and they told me to still come in when I called about being a little late. I was eating lunch and broke my crown. A friend suggested i call hermann dental. From the start everything was excellent. The receptionist jasmine that took my call was knowledgeable and professional She checked my insurance and set my appointment immediately. When i arrived i was greeted at the reception by a very nice young man. The wait was minimal. Maybe 5 minutes. The dental assistant was very nice and efficient. The doctor was prompt and courteous. Really made me feel at ease. Im definately going to return and will advise everyone i know thats needs a dentist as well. read more

I am so disappointed with the incompetence and carelessness of this place. I've been going to this dentist for a long time, probably close to 10 years. I used to live very close to them and when I moved to Queens, I still continued to use them. My last visit was in December and I guess once they billed my insurance, it turned out that I had a balance. So they sent me a bill, which is fine. When I looked at the envelope, the window that has my address had my freaking full date of birth and entire social security number printed on it. So just so you can envision what I'm saying here's what I saw (obviously not putting my actual information): First Name, Last Name 123 ABC Drive 01/01/2001 098776-543 (line with my DOB/SSN) Anytown, US 12345 Like HOW does this happen?? So every single person that handled that piece of mail had access to my information!! In this day and age where identity theft is RAMPANT, the billing department made such a CARELESS error!! No one noticed that there was an extra line of numbers in the address?? I called and informed the receptionist and just got a sorry, it won't happen again. You damn straight it won't happen again because after I pay that bill, I will NEVER use them again! I now have to place fraud alerts on my credit report and sign up for monitoring, because my dental office was careless. So beware of your information. I hope they read this review and look at all correspondences before mailing them out. read more

This facility takes advantage of it's accessibility. Horrible front desk service, not knowledgeable of basic info. They give contradictory information due to lack of verification. They are adamant about info they should know yet end up wrong when it just takes a google search to confirm. A shame because the actual dentist seem to be fine. Myself and 7 family members are now patients of a different, less conveniently located practice. Too bad, good service goes such a long way, either teach your staff or get new. read more

THE TRUTH: it's management - i've been a patient since '05 because they're the nearest to my home - sure, Alison could be nasty sometimes (Diane, less so) but the changeover since their tenure has only made things worse - there's a revolving door of dentists and the front office is sometimes nice, sometimes disengaged and impatient (they're often joking with one another while you're desperately questioning a bill or trying to arrange an appointment) - i remember a time when Lorraine Herrmann was my ACTUAL DENTIST, but those days are long gone - of course, the objective is to run a profitable practice while maintaining quality, but it's the latter which has suffered over the years - the weakest part of the office is orthodontics - "you mean the doctor?" no, not at all - Baharak Fooladi is a fine practitioner, well qualified - but when you run a full-service practice where the orthodontist is sometimes available only one day a month, this is an obvious sign of mismanagement and/or lack of concern for the customer (the patient) - if your kid needs braces, forget it - you will need to see the orthodontist once a month, and as you can imagine, every parent is trying to get an appointment at the same time (after school) and no, the orthodontist is NOT available on weekends - listen, the most successful practices include an on-site manager who provides leadership and training, but most of all maintains a level of quality that meets or exceeds expectations - as another reviewer said, there's a reason for the low rating at this provider; and that reason, unfortunately, is that it doesn't deserve anything higher. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Aside from the shabby, dingy, run down interior and antiquated equipment, the worst part is the terrible attitude of all the office staff. I wanted to love this place I really did. Dr. PoliCastro Is really nice did a good job on my cleaning and filling. However, i had a cracked tooth towards the back and was told needed to get extracted however the oral surgeon only comes in once a month!! Soo waited a whole 6 weeks and when the time came came they called me and told me the office would be closed and next appointment was in april. Complete bullshit. Don't waste your time unless all you need is a cleaning and you're sure of it. Not to mention my appt was only For a consultation and then he would tell me when he would do the extraction. Waste of time. Ps. Dnt make your appt for a Saturday either. You'll wait 2 hrs before being seen. read more

Sometimes you want to give them the benefit of the doubt, THINK AGAIN. I had a fill with means I was numb however the "dentist" kept asking if I had a regular bite, IDK my mouth is numb I won't know till the novocaine wears off. Fast forward 4months still can't chew on the left (the side I got the work done on), and I've got a baby tooth because she the "dentist" shaved down my tooth so much. Ughh. Secondly please please please watch your bill, they recharged me for a bill that I'd paid off 2months prior. They even had the audacity to tack on late fees. read more

Absolutely horrific. I made an appointment to have a crown replaced. I confirmed 3 times, on the phone, to the front desk, and to the dentist. I was then given a cleaning and told to make an appointment about the crown WHICH I ALREADY DID. I never made a cleaning appointment. Then they would not give me a temporary crown until I argued with them. They told me I would have to pay out of pocket even though I have dental insurance. I spent $350 on a temporary crown which broke 3 days later while eating soft pasta. DO NOT GO HERE. It was not clean, not helpful, and basically robs you of your money. read more

As stated in a previous review, the front desk representatives (I think their names are Diane and Alice) are extremely rude. It is clear customer service is not their priority. If you're in need of information further than what they initially give you, count on a rude, discourteous and quite often a mean response and be prepared to fight. They are not accommodating. From arranging an appointment to upcharged fees Regarding the dentists, ugh, they are quick to extract rather than repair a tooth. Their dentists are subpar. I managed to preserve a tooth at another facility when Hermmann dental insisted I needed an extraction. 5 yrs later I still have my tooth. Asked for a prescription for pain medication (i.e, Motrin, Ibuprofen, etc.) and the dentist told me I didn't need it and if I was in pain I should extract the tooth sooner. I will not support this business. I recommend you find another location. read more

This office is rated low for a reason. I am quite familiar with it, as I've been a patient here for years, SOLELY due to convenience of location (it is literally a 2 minute walk from my house). Other than that, it has been an absolute horror and displeasure being a patient here. I've had appointments that I've made months prior, cancelled within days' notice. I had pain in my gum once and called for an emergency appointment. The receptionist told me they were booked for a month and I could not be seen. For PAIN IN MY GUMS?!?! UNACCEPTABLE! The staff turnover rate is HORRIFIC. I've never seen the same dentist more than twice in a row. The woman at the check-out desk, Alison, has one of the rudest attitudes I've ever seen someone working in a customer service environment have. Some days she is actually pleasant, but if you catch her on the wrong day, she will take it out on you. My friend used to go here and she was upset as well, so she went in, asked for her paperwork to transfer to another office and they gave it to her, no questions asked. When I went in to ask for my paperwork, they gave me the third degree and told me I had to pay $20 for each X-ray that they needed to scan. When I told them that my friend did the same weeks prior and paid nothing, they pretty much said "oh well. By the way, my last visit there, the dentist's advice to me was to STOP USING TOOTHPASTE. He stated he hasn't used toothpaste in 35+ years because it's bad for your teeth and he just brushes with teeth with water and rinses with mouthwash. NEVER AGAIN!!! Never had too much of an issue here. Basic cleaning, nothing fancy. It's close by and gets the job done. But today, I am sitting outside the clinic because 25 minutes past my appointment time, no one is here. Not a soul. The door is locked. The lights are off. I've knocked, rang, and called. Nothing. It's even past the time they post on their door as office hours. I double and triple checked my appointment time, so I am more than a little surprised at the lack of professionalism. This was going to be my last appointment here anyway. I certainly won't miss it. read more

Can I give this place negative stars? The people here are insane! The administration gives dentist a 30 minute maximum time for each patient. I'm no doctor, but what if something happens during a procedure? Can I just get an extra 5 minutes? I went in for a cavity filling, which is probably one of the most common procedures for dentists and my dentist told me once she was done "it will be sensitive from 2 weeks to 2 months." Did this bitch just give me a whole 6 week time different for my cavity to recover?!?!?! Are you kidding me?! And for the record, my cavity is still in pain.... Then I wanted to go to another oral surgeon to get my wisdom teeth extracted. Because a smart living being wouldn't even think about going to their oral surgeon. Of course the secretaries gave me the hardest time of my life to process my paperwork. This was an emergency, by the way. My teeth had been hurting for about 2 months while I was abroad, and once I got back to NY, I tried to get them removed right away. It took a whole month for them to get their crap together so I could get my wisdom teeth removed at my desired choice. The oral surgeon office I went to was amazing, compared to this so-called dentist office. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. they're are very unwelcoming, not friendly, and most horrible service you could ever imagine. read more

I've been going to this dentist since I was a kid. They used to be very good but recently they've had a large increase in clientèle. Ever since then their quality in dental care has decreed and not mention the new dentists are quite young. Recently I went in because I had a tooth that had a fill-in that fell out. It began causing me some pain. When the dentist looked in my mouth she said she saw it and it looked like the cavity was between two teeth. She said it wasn't urgent and could be reversed over time, but if it was causing me trouble she suggested that I get it filled. Little did I know she was not looking at the same tooth I came in for. It wasn't until it was too late that I realized they filled in the wrong teeth. The teeth she filled in caused me no trouble at all. Two of my perfectly good teeth are now ruined due to lack of communication. No one reconfirmed the teeth they were going to fill in before beginning the process. I will not be going here again. read more

I found the staff to be unbearably rude, disrespectful, and degrading. I never even got to the stage of seeing the dentist because the interactions with the staff were so upsetting. I cancelled our appointments and our children's, and will report the experience to our insurance company. This is not an environment to introduce children to seeing a dentist. read more

My husband was told one price over the phone and then ask to pay over three times the amount, when he asked the secretary about it she was demeaning rude and unhelpful she also threatened my husband when he was questioning the price that he "opened his mouth again she'd charge full price" I do NOT recommend this dentist. I just had a routine dental visit at Hermann Associates and to my pleasant surprise I was attended by a really good dentist. He took his time to explain the condition of my teeth. He was friendly, accommodating, informative but most of all great chair side manner towards a patient. I'm not a fan of going to the dentist but the dr's at the practice are very good. The staff is very friendly and professional. The office is a little dated but is clean. They do accept many insurance plans which is how I started there but I would continue if that wasn't the case.
