While she only works three days a week (her family is important to her!), it is easy to work around her schedule. When a visit is more urgent, all of the doctors at Pioneer Family Practice are wonderful doctors. We have no complaints whatsoever about Dr. Playstead and the clinic where she practices!

Without all the details, I was stunned by the immediate defensive attitude of the office manager when I inquired as to why I was told my appointment was at 6:45 am (I arrived early as you do for a 1st visit), when in fact they won't open the doors until 6:45 am, so I waited in my car for 30 minutes. "Just wait in your car with the motor running." and "It's not even cold today." It was 36 degrees. I was also told I would have my annual physical (the whole reason I made the appointment) before I came in, but when I got there I was told I'd have to come back for that, that this was just a meet and greet. I can't comment on the doctors as I never saw them. I wasn't going to stay after being treated this way. Hard to describe in words how hostile they reacted to my asking questions about the offices communication. Guess they aren't used to being called out on their condescending behavior.

And a NPR then Doctor Sawyer for the last several years. Dr. Havalak was also wonderful and caring, although DR. Sawyer is also caring, down to earth, wonderful personality, truthful, and I have to say I have never had a doctor that worked so hard and would take the time to call you or a family member to check up on you. My husband has also been going to him for several years and Dr. Sawyer was concerned about his symptoms January 13th so Dr. S sent him for a CT scan that found two large cysts on his liver. Dr. Sawyer referred him to a specialist at Gastro Health, who then referred him to the U of W which has been long process. My husband has been waiting since January 27th to get a biopsy on his liver and DR. Sawyer and his wonderful nurse Misty (s/p) have not given up finding one. The Gastro Health specialist originally told us we had to go to the U of W because there was no one in Olympia or Tacoma that could do the biopsy, but then when the university Dr. finally called us for phone consultation, he said that the biopsy procedure is done by a specialist of radiology and that there had to be one in Olympia or Tacoma , so we called Dr. Sawyer to inform him of what the University Dr. told us and he and His nurse went to work on finding us The right doctor at Capital medical on the west side of Olympia to do the procedure. We got the call yesterday from Misty that they put a rush to get the biopsy and talked to South Sound radiology where CT scan and MRI was performed to get my husbands film to the Capital radiology dept. ASAP So they can view and get my husband biopsy done. Not only has Dr. sawyers nurse been wonderful keeping us updated by calling us but Dr. Sawyer himself has called my husband numerous times also.. He is the best! I am 77 and my husband is 83 and he doesn't care how old we are he still believes we have a lot of life in us to give us the best care we deserve! HE is a 10 in my book !!! He reminds me of the TV sitcom years ago called "Marcus Welby MD" although I don't think Dr. Sawyer would know who that is since he was probably in grade school or maybe not even born yet? The rest room is covered with literally hundreds of different products almost as if it were a convenient store. The admin staff were very rude and condescending. The doctors bed side manner was absolutely horrible. my wife did not get good vibes and declined on the option to go to the follow up appointment however i did not follow her lead and ended up being stressed out every time i went. Im in a customer service field and expect to get the same product that i put out so never ever again!! Its really easy to get an appointment there and super cool being able to communicate with them via an iphone app but its totally not worth it!!! If you absolutely have to go make an appointment with the M.A. As he is very empathetic and less creepier.

I've been with Dr. Duncan long enough that I saw…read morehim when he worked in Tumwater Family Practice. his ability to see to my needs has been phenomenal over the years and he's even gotten my into be seen on short notice. throughout the horrors of the world during 2020, 2021 and into 2022 they were the most understanding and helpful even when my attitude was at the worst I can ever remember. they even went to the extent to help get appointments set up with my own mental state just couldn't cope with ANYTHING on those occasions. sigh. I am very sad to be leaving his care. so, why the one star rating? well... he decided to change his business model to a concierge medicine model. the example would be a gym membership. you want to be seen here... it'll be an extra $80/month just to be part of his practice. this also leaves out something that has come up with my wife a few times. she tends to have overall poor health and has had some incidents where she needed a boil drained or whatever and rather than taking care of it there (while she was there in his office) he sent her to any emergent care clinic of her choosing. as much as we've trusted (and really still do trust) them as a whole I found that odd. this led to even more "Hmmm" sort of thoughts. he didn't (or doesn't?) seem to keep any vaccines on hand and referred me out to the local Albertson's, Walgreen's etc. when I was forced by work to get a shot. most of this I can deal with but, it all plays into the same thing. more money for what is apparently LESS service. if it weren't for the face-to-face interactions I've had with Dr. Duncan being so amazing and his staff so completely helpful I would've left on my own years ago.

Maybe if they went cut out the Uber Eats and Starbucks, they could afford to invest in their health. He also has an awesome staff, and the lab services are 1st rate.
