We arrived at 755pm.
The interior is rustic, yet urban. Tidy, comfortable, lit by candelight. Make a reservation in the summer for outdoor tables, they fill up quickly. The restaurant was full with dinner din, quiet conversations and sounds from a bustling kitchen, wine glasses clinking. The happiness of a subtle Monday night with friends or family...
8:15pm: Our server stopped by at for the first time. Wine/water ordered, dishes selected carefully from the "farm-to-table" menu, which changes nightly. We were thrilled to try the antipasti plate, vegetable risotto and chicken with roasted potatoes and spring green beans.
835pm: The half carafe of rose was delightful. A nice start to soften the mood...
9pm: The antipasti plate was rich and runneth over: cured meats, soft cheeses, crispy bread, olives, marinated vegetables, delightful. The best appetizer we could've dreamed for.

And, then...nothing.
At 930pm I politely waved over our waitress to ask about our food (1 hour after ordering). I'd noticed that tables that arrived well after us had all of their food, were even finishing and leaving for the night. Unfortunately our servers looked quite rushed and busy...and no one had noticed that somehow...everyone had forgotten our food. They assured us, 10 more minutes.
We're asked if we'd like another bottle of water...of course, thank you. Surely, this should've been complimentary, as the only reason I needed another bottle of water is because its the only thing I've been able to "snack on" while waiting 2 hours for a meal. It appeared on the bill.
950pm: Our food arrives. To their credit, the food is simply outstanding. The risotto the best I've had, maybe ever. Light and fluffy, which is hard to achieve. The chicken dish was equally as good. Sprigs of green beans tucked and wrapped within proscitto, roasted fingerling potatoes. Perfectly prepared. The food was simply outstanding.
Unfortunately, a simple "sorry" is not enough to make up for waiting 2 hours to receive dinner, a mistaken/forgotten order, etc. We were so hungry by the time we got our food, and at this price point someone at some juncture should've realized we had NO FOOD for hours.
I was about ready to leave at the beginning (and should have!) but as I was getting up after 20 minutes they appeared.
Would I try again? Yes, I think I would. Perhaps they were short staffed or it was an off night. The food was tremendous and the servers friendly. But if I am going to pay 60 euros for a meal (with my tired and hungry/jetlagged mother) I expect a bit more in terms of the dining experience.
I hate to leave 2 stars, but it was really a poor experience...I think it's a great place, but perhaps need to hire some more help for the summer. read more
