This is a cute little park that has a 1-mile level trail from the parking lot to the bay and back. A good thing about the trail is that this is the only place I've been on a bay or ocean walk in SF without any tourists. It also has a lot of birds around, I'm not familiar with them all but definitely many Herons, someone into birdwatching probably really would appreciate it here. For a walk I'd come here a lot if I lived nearby but other than that it's not worth the drive because there isn't much around here unless you are going to Archimedes Banya or Bay Natives Nursery which is across the street

Really nice park in a somewhat skeptical area. Parking lot people made us feel a bit uncomfortable. Would probably be better on a busy Saturday. Playground was awesome, very naturalized, wholesome and organic. No restrooms available that we could see, also the center was closed so we didn't get to check that out. If you live nearby, worth checking out.

Great little park for a nice short stroll. I felt safe walking around and the area was very clean. I brought food with and enjoyed it at a picnic table by the parking area. It was a beautiful day and had nice views and a well kept path. It's all flat so a very easy walk. If it weren't in the opposite end of the city from me I'd come more often but was happy to check it out after hearing about the park from a friend.

I spent some time there today volunteering. We helped to clean up this small park that has been returned to it's natural state as a thriving wildlife habitat. https://sfport.com/herons-head-park I wish the place was bigger. It's shape looks like a heron's head but in reality it is a very narrow strip of land that juts out into the bay. There is not much to do other than walk the path to the tip and back. 15 minute walk at best. Many people who must live or work nearby were walking this space during their lunch hour. There were quite a few dogs as well. The surrounding area is very industrial with a huge PG & E enclosed lot right next door. The Ecology Center was closed today.

In the middle of chaos, one can find peace and beauty. a lot of work is being done to bring this small oasis of green and birds to Life, and though it'll take time it'll be a bigger reality soon. The trails are already there and though I looked for birds today, there were none but a few ducks that flew in noisily. A couple was walking slowly to enjoy the fresh air and seemed to know a lot (they advised me those ducks were mallards). Perhaps one day I will return to see if I can snap some birds! Big parking lot with a lot of descriptive signs along the trail. About 231 feet there is an EcoCenter but I didn't enter as there were workers. On the far side of the ecocenter is a picnic area complete with grilling -options and tables. Benches are located at several spots along the trail. I can't wait till the birds return!! This small, hidden park was very relaxing, but its surrounding was an eye sore. It's quiet and quaint with very few presence of people around. Unfortunately, it's surrounded by a broken down pier and a smelly dam next to it. My favorite part was the long walk towards the end with a stair-like bench where you could sit and just relax as you look over the park.

My sister and I arrived before 8am at the Watershed parking lot and barely found a space. We did the trail that took us to the West Point Inn for the pancake breakfast and round trip was close to 5 miles so it was a great workout. There's gorgeous views and well! On the way back to the 101 however it's a mess. The road on the way down is crowded with parked cars, which makes driving through challenging. That's the only thing about this park, other than that I'd love to come back in spring when everything is green and vibrant!

Ever since then, I've wanted to hike this peak, today I have achieved my wish. Early June with mild coastal temp, 50s-60s. Started up Matt Davis Trail in the foggy forest, to Pantoll Campground, to West Point Inn where we can look down to the top of the fog layer, to the Fire Lookout building at the Peak. Then we came down reverse but split off to Steep Ravine and Dip Sea trail after the campground. I've also always wanted to climb that ladder. This hike provided views of the Pacific ocean on the West as well as views of Richmond-San Rafael Bridge on the East side. I thoroughly enjoyed the cool lush forest, but actually my favorite section was the single track along the slope of the open area after the Mt Tam State Park sign.

Let's also close down the streets from cars one day a week in the Summer so people can ride their bikes, skate, rollerblade, play and dance in the streets! How about on some warm weekend days we put huge concerts there that fill the grass for as far as the eye can see so people can bring all their friends to enjoy food, drinks, and music together. And the lake... let's make it so people can rent boats, and if they don't or can't row, they can peddle so they, too, can enjoy the waterfall and life on the lake! Let's also have beautiful statues around the park, definitely a Shakespeare Garden, and let's throw in something for garden lovers, like a Botanical Garden (a big one) and a Conservatory of Flowers. For more culture, let's add a Japanese Tea Garden with more lakes and flowers, and even a bridge in the shape of a circle. Let's also make this accessible to everyone, so some days, the museums are free (ie, usually once a month). And some entrance fees are lower for locals. (Check the websites.) We really enjoy coming to Lafayette Park Playground this morning for an early Easter egg hunting…read moreevent--it's quite unique compared to other playgrounds in the city. The layout is more challenging and perfect for little explorers who love to climb, balance, and stay active. My 3-year-old always finds something new to do, and it keeps them engaged for a long time. I also appreciate that babies aren't left out--there are designated areas where younger kids can safely play too. The restroom is conveniently located and clean, which is a big plus for families. That said, some of the rocky edges can be a bit risky for adventurous kids, so it's definitely a place where you'll want to keep a close eye on them at all times. The only downside is parking--it can be pretty tough to find a spot, especially during busy times. Overall, it's a fun and exciting playground that's great for kids of different ages, as long as you're prepared for a bit of supervision and a parking hunt!
