having grown up in the dc area, and visiting my parents 1-3x annually, i'd never visited or even…read moreheard of this place until my last visit home, 2 months ago! mom used to volunteer nearby so she knew about this village, primarily for retired citizens, with a beautiful lake, tennis courts and several walking trails. the day after i ran 26.2 miles, we came here en route to the airport and it was the perfect place to get in some easy, gentle walking. in late october, the fall foliage was really peaking and i loved seeing the beautiful, rustic colours of autumn. multitudes of rust, gold, pumpkin, and chestnut coloured leaves covered the grass and walking paths, making for the most picturesque walk. i couldn't help myself from taking multiple photos and videos! i'd recommend coming here in the warmer months, perhaps with a standup paddleboard, kayak or canoe and enjoying the lake, and grabbing a beverage at one of the cafes after. very peaceful and a great hidden gem in the dmv.

There were lots of stores here and I checked out what they had, but nothing caught my fancy that was worthy enough to try and figure out how to pack to get home. That's the bummer while shopping on a trip. These outlets are probably better if you have a particular store in mind or just want to get some steps in while shopping. But when I pulled in here, I wasn't mad. Visiting a mall early in the morning is weird. It is mostly deserted. No stores open. Almost completely void of people except those in here doing their jobs. Kind of gives you the 'Dawn of the Dead' vibe, like you are one of the only survivors left in the world. Odd to say, but almost peaceful. This mall seems to be doing fairly well. I did not see many vacancies. Which is great, and almost always the case in this area. This mall feels vast. The layout feels like you need to know exactly what you are getting in here, or set aside time to allow you to freely wander in here. My stop, to use the facilities, took a bit longer than I expected. I have never been here before, and this was not a good thing. I ended up parking in what I thought was the middle of the mall, however, not knowing where the restrooms were, I ended up walking for a while. What was interesting was when I did finally find the restrooms, if I would have used one of the other entrances nearby, it would have been a much quicker stop. But I wouldn't have had the zombie vibe.

However, on a recent trip coming back home, I made my way here to kill some time as I had the day off from work. First things first, what a nightmare to find a parking spot and to not get run over by traversing the parking area. I thought I had gone the wrong way at one point to find a spot. And when I did find a spot I was confused and thought I had to pay to park. I wish it were just easily marked on where to go here. Once parked, I found my way inside and just meandered around the space. Popping in an out of stores as I saw appealing. They really do have a ton of selections here. Huge amount of time can be lost here if you are on a time crunch. I was in no rush, so I wandered around until I had my fill of the space. My suggestion to you. Come early in the morning, you will definitely be able to get in and out of each store you need to with ample time. Less hassle in the parking lot. And less hassle walking between stores. Or, if you are up for it, travel here by Metro.

I was denied because he stated that an etched in stone store policy required the $75 had to be within a single purchase ticket. I spoke with the manager who confirmed this policy and I defended my situation by stating that I'd been this before over the years. I think this is rude and for some peon junior big boy manager to impose this arbitrary decision on the customers who are to be catered to is a mistake and should be corrected down through the pecking order down to these clowns.
