I bought chicken breasts, chicken quarters and boneless chicken thighs. In just 2 days when I was going to cook the chicken thighs, they gave off a bad smell... spoiled. I quickly checked the breast meat and the quarters. They were fine and still smelled fresh. I wrapped up the boneless thighs and took them back to the market. I was greeted by the two butchers but they asked I talk to the office lady. She said because it was 2 days they couldn't take them back nor give me a refund. I just wanted fresh chicken thighs. She had one of the butchers smell the chicken and he said they smelled fine. Gross, I asked her to smell them but she said I would have to wait for the owner, he was out to lunch. I waited 30 minutes. When the owner arrived, I told him if the chicken and he said " There is nothing I can do for you. If you would have brought them the same day, I would be able to give you a refund. He brought up that no one can return meats and mentioned Costco and other blah, blah, blah that was irrelevant to his store. Then he accused me of leaving the meat without immediate refrigeration. I took the meat only because I was concerned that he would sell it since the butcher claimed it had no bad smell. I tossed the meat in the garbage. Tip: when going to a meat market, ask them not to tie the bag so that when they hand it over, you can smell it for yourself be before leaving the store! read more
