Our house has a complicated driveway and parking situation which their crew was able to work around seamlessly. Our HOA had its own approval layer on top of the city permit, and Sun Vault Roofing helped us navigate a two-week back-and-forth over approved shingle colors (side salad: ridiculous that HOAs have this kind of bureaucracy). Despite the complications, Sun Vault Roofing kept us updated through every delay and milestone without us having to chase anyone down. That alone was worth the price difference. The crew showed up on time, worked two full days, and left the yard cleaner than they found it. The roof has now been through 2-3 major storms since installation, including the crazy hail in April and there is not a speck of damage. Everything looks sharp and clean. My husband found this company online and they were the first call we made (expecting to make a few more). The owner was the one that answered, and he was on the road. He said he could come out today, within the hour, so we said yes. He called again to let us know when he was 15 minutes away- we were impressed already. He pulled up with his trailer in tow and a crew member with him. He gave us an estimate we were happy with and we asked when he could come back to do the work. To our surprise, he replied "how about now?" He explained that he was on his way home, but since he was here he might as well fix it, otherwise we'd have to wait a couple weeks for him to come back. Of course we said yes, and he got right to work! He had all the supplies and tools in his trailer and bent the gutters right there on site. They removed the old ones, made new (seamless) ones, and had them installed in a little over an hour. We had an issue with a blown fuse (he needed power for his machine to make the gutters) and he was very nice and understanding about it, even though it cost him a little time getting things going again. We'll see how things go once it rains (he did say they were warrantied though, and to give him a call if we had any issues whatsoever) but the customer service was outstanding! I'd recommend these guys in a heartbeat. UPDATE (12/30 /14): Just wanted to update that the gutters are working beautifully. Still very highly recommend these guys. =)

A home inspector we spoke to recommended that we call John Briggs at Guttersmiths. John and Marcus installed new gutters on our Victorian, including a very tricky curved and segmented section over our front porch. Guttersmiths provided both quality workmanship and help and advice on how to best prepare and repair before the gutters were hung. In many ways he served as a general contractor, making sure that carpentry repairs and painting were done to his specs. I hired this company to clean my solarium and to power wash the outer parts of the gutters on my…read morehome and garage. The workers came almost two hours late without a phone call. The man doing the power washing came onto my front porch (cleaning the front porch was not part of the estimate) and proceeded to power wash it, soaking a framed print that was on the wall. The print was of sentimental value as it had come from my previous home. I called the owner in tears and he told me that the worker told him that I asked him to power wash the front porch, WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE. I asked that the job be finished and that the workers leave ASAP. The owner hung up on me. I am a widow, new to the city of Madison. I have however owned several other homes in different locations over the past 40 years. Never have I been spoken to or treated this way by a business owner. Please do not consider using this unbelievable unprofessional company. UPDATE: Connor, the business owner, showed up in an indigent rage, demanding that I show him exactly what was damaged. I felt threatened, frightened and shocked at his angry attitude. He then demanded to know if I intended to pay him ( I never said that I wouldn't pay him). When I again asked that he and his workers finish the job and leave, he refused to step off of my porch. I literally had to get my phone and tell him that if he did not step back and stop shouting, I would need to call the police. He ran to the back of the house, rounded up his workers and leaving the the job half done with all of the screens left out of the windows. Again, I have owned, maintained and renovated four homes and have never had a problem like this before. Another update: this morning I discovered that glass in the the overhead light fixture on the front porch was broken by the power washer. I was never told about this and the broken pieces of glass were cleaned up before I could notice.
