The concept is very simple, purchase your ticket, find a pickup spot and ride around. I recommend purchasing your ticket on-line prior to pick up, makes the whole process easier. One driver allowed folks to purchase tickets but it was cash only and delayed the rest of the bus, buy a head of time. Trolley's (and vans) are nice, well maintain and comfortable. The vehicles stay in constant movement, never waited more than 10 min for a ride. If you are uncomfortable waiting you can call dispatch and they will provide you the location of the nearest trolley and an estimated arrival time. The only thing missing is a route map, would like to know what order the stops are in, helps with our planning. Overall great experience!

Here you will find amtrak volunteers who run a small area with a trailer area similar to a temporary classroom many of us had in public school over the years. Heat in the winter, AC in the summer which brings some relief from the elements when waiting for a train. It is downtown JC so parking is not great so plan ahead but the volunteers have been providing parking passes for day trippers. Ask, don't assume. They are limited. There are vending machines. The volunteers will provide updates as they are in communication with the trains. The River Runner was recently upgraded so the experience is nicer than before. Try to be 30 minutes early to plan for parking changes. Also drop off is a little tight. Onboarding/offboarding is fast and furious so listen and be ready to brab your bags and climb aboard quickly as the train is trying to roll as soon as the platform is clear.

Weeds have sprouted through the cracked and broken walkway. Cigarettes butts and trash are scattered around the ground. There is a waiting area/building that looks rather depressive. It looks like a pre-fab building that was just thrown up. The door was locked so I have no idea about the inside of the building. Because the doors are locked, there is no restroom available. You would think that the city would want the area to look inviting for potential visitors. But im guessing they don't care.

Bathrooms were nasty and smelled like porta potty's. There is a food cart up front where you can purchase food and drinks (including alcoholic beverages). There were also outlets by your seats in case you need to plug anything in. WiFi was offered too. There was no security or checking of luggage which kind of surprised me. Also Alton has a brand new train depot. It's very nice.

The station is kept super clean on the inside and the grounds outside are landscaped nicely. Amtrak has agents on duty 7 days a week and they are there, 7AM till 7PM. MCT does not have anyone in their office, but there are plenty of brochures explaining all the different bus routes available. This station is big city quality in a small city. Only thing missing is a coffee shop and a small food court, but they do have vending machines. Happy Travels!

East Riverfront may shorten my total travel time to/from St. Louis a bit, when I'm just trying to get to a game and avoid downtown parking. But, if I'm going to pay, then I'd rather get a little more of a ride. Often, there's a real live person to sell you a ticket. Otherwise, it's easy to use one of the automated ticket dispensers, $2.25 one way.

It was clean, moderately efficient and no one bothered us. I say moderate because the Blue Line was down for maintenance and this put a sort of kink in our plans to get to St. Louis. Prices were the same as those others: $4.50 for a round trip ticket...although every time I use the metro, no one ever checks to see if I validated my ticket or even purchased one.
