We created a trust with Hermance Law over 2 years ago and there were so many things wrong and typos- we had to correct the trust approximately 10 times. We gave this company many, many chances to correct their mistakes and they failed every time. They failed to reply to emails, did not return phone calls, etc. The lack of communication and follow through was appalling for what we paid. It took 2 years for our trust to be completed. I would not recommend them to an enemy or someone I hate. No one deserves to be treated the way they treated me. This was probably the worst and most frustrating experience we've had with a professional services firm, on par with dealing with the IRS, DMV, and bad remodeling contractors. This review is only for the MetLife Legal Insurance Plan experience, and my goal is to give prospective clients transparency on my experience, so they can make an informed decision. I hate writing bad reviews.. this is only my 5th 1-star in the last 13 years, compared to dozens of 5 star reviews but this is worth writing: 1. I initiated the Estate Planning process with Hermance law on 8/20/2023, had the intake meeting with their coordinator on 8/31/2023, and the attorney meeting on 10/10/2023. As of today 2/28/2024, 6+ months later, my estate plan is not 100% complete, abbeit I think we're 95% of the way there. Through this process, my wife and I were diligent in preventing any delays on our end and responded to any and all communication within 3 business days, most of them within 24 hrs. I did take 2 weeks before scheduling with their notary (see issue #3 below), so I can take responsibility for those 2 weeks. As of today, I'm still waiting on Hermance Law to provide me the "trailing docs aka instructions for after the estate plan is complete", which I asked for back in 2x in January, but they would not provide until the very end, so their services are still needed for me to fully complete my estate plan. 2. Once you complete the 1 hr intake meeting with the attorney, you have ZERO verbal communication with the attorney or paralegal afterwards. They make all MetLife clients communicate through an online portal, and it takes the attorney sometimes a week to respond, unless you call in to follow up, then the receptionist will help you get a faster response. As you can imagine, making changes, fixing errors, and asking questions is extremely frustrating and slow. If they misunderstand the question or do not fully address it, you gotta wait another week for a new response. We were not made aware of this during the intake, and would not have went with this firm had we known this was the level of service. 3. Once the estate plan is generated, they send the docs straight to their notary, bypassing the client, and they expect me to read the 180+ pages for the 1st time with the notary during the 1 hr signing (no attorney present during the signing and the notary can't answer any questions). I assume they do this so you dont come back to them with questions, which may take up more of their precious attorney's time. I like to read everything I sign beforehand, so it took me 3-4 emails, 1 phone call, and a week to get Hermance Law to send me a copy of the estate docs for review (shouldn't it be normal to have the client review the docs before signing?). There was no attorney check in on whether we had any questions on the 180 pages they just generated, and I didnt bother using the online message portal given how ineffective that has been. 4. During this 6+ month process, there's close to zero proactive communication and clarity from Hermance Law on where we are in the process, and what the next steps are. The receptionist, Ivy, is the most helpful person throughout this process the few times I had to call in to ask for information. I understand they have a different level of service for their full paying clients vs MetLife customers, but it should not be to a level that's this disrespectful. They should not take on MetLife clients if they can't provide a minimum level of service. read more

Come on, this many five star reviews! Well, after our experience we now see why. We had been putting off having a living trust, and my wife, who is actually a very qualified attorney but not a estate attorney, could have done it. However, like the old saying, "a person representing himself has a fool for a client," she preferred having the specialist in that particular field of law complete it. We had heard good things about Hermance Law, and even though my wife personally knew some estate attorneys, she went to one of Hermance's presentations and was very impressed with them. Working with them was very simple, and all their staff throughout the process were polite, personable, and very professional. They kept us informed on what was required, dates and times, and keep us up to date on the continuing process. The hardest part, as they informed us, was dealing with the bank to change our accounts into our living trust, which you still have to do personally. After it was all done my wife commented about how happy she was that she had not done it herself because Hermance Lawhad had made it so easy. If you are even thinking about having a living trust, don't hesitate, it is so simple and quick, and you'll sleep better at night knowing you have it. I do have to say that we did not get a professional attorney courtesy discount, but we did get a discount for attending one of their presentations, so look out for one so you can get yours! PS Are those five star ratings really a reflection of their services? Well, after our experience with Hermance Law we now know it is. read more

I decided to take a chance and give Hermance Law a call to help with a few matters. At first everyone was friendly I spoke with the operator Aja who was helpful and easy going. I spoke with Mallissa one of the para legals and was able to hash through a somewhat complicated situation. She made me feel very comfortable and by the end of the call I felt assured they would be able to help me. We began corresponding through emails while gathering the requested papers I communicated there were definitely more to be observe. I missed a called and called back no one knew of me needing any help and the operator wouldn't even tell me who I was speaking to. The following day I answer a call from Rebecca an "entrusted account specialist" she begins telling me what they feel needs to be done but didn't mention the original request I had made. I let her know I was actually trying to do a few things but first needed to address A before B and C and she began to be very snippy and rude saying they didn't have papers I needed and they needed them in a very demanding way. I explained I wasn't able to get through yesterday but have been waiting for a a response so I could bring these papers and make a retainment. She said she would call me back maybe an hour later I get a call saying they can't help me.
