Your loved ones are well taken care of. Maria visits the home daily to make sure that everything runs smoothly. They monitor the medicines, provide 3 meals a day and Maria takes the residents to the doctors herself. Where can you find a place like this? Portola Place was the first place we looked at and we both had a good feeling right away. The house and rooms are very nice and clean. The food is fantastic and the staff is remarkable. Kind, caring and always there to give my mother the best care at all times. The house has a really family sort of feeling with sons, daughters and various family members visiting making for a very comfortable feeling for the residents. I know my mom is always happy when I visit or call to talk to her. Kenia, the adminstrative manager is there nearly every day and oversees that everything is running smoothly. She does excercises with the residents keeping them active as often as possible. Much care is given to each and every resident to be sure everyone is safe and content. Portola Place has been the answer for my mother for sure and for her children who love her and want the best for her. I would recommend this home to someone looking for the same sort of care that we need for my mom.

This place is very easy to get to on Trousdale Drive, and is directly across the street from the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center. My niece and I took a scheduled tour of Oakmont of Burlingame. Anne, our guide, explained everything in detail and answered our questions. We were shown different apartment floor plans, common areas, and outdoor areas. It should be noted that when we entered the lobby, there was no Covid screening (such as temperature check). Masks were optional. The apartments are like hotel rooms, and do not have kitchens. Residents are to eat in the dining room, or have food brought to their room. All rooms are unfurnished, except for the mini fridge. We were only shown model rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors. There's a secure private garage underground. Oakmont features luxurious common areas, attention to detail, and there was live music in the lobby when we were there. They seem very accommodating to resident preferences and schedules for meals. There's also group outings for things like museums and shopping. At the end of our tour, Anne explained all the required paperwork and price rates. Overall, we had a very positive experience.

After an extensive search and interviews, Mom moved to Sandpiper Court on 6/17/2012…read more Not once in weekly visits (many unannounced) over the year did we ever note any odors. Sandpiper was always clean, bright, and immaculate. The food was excellent (I had some - who would have thought that cabbage soup would taste good?) I used to push Mom on her wheel chair to the park adjoining the home, to the Foster City levy under San Mateo bridge for sunset views of San Francisco, and even to her dentist and orthopedist - all within a 10 minute walk (near Hillbarn Theatre - so sorry she was unable to attend their shows - my loss! The staff took care of what had been a major chore - getting and administering a multiple of pills; a local pharmacy delivered all prescriptions and Costco is nearby for all bulk purchases. As Mom's memory, mobility and ability to talk decreased, she required increased care - incontinence, feeding, turning her body every 15 minutes. Not once did any of the staff complain, or Sandpiper's owner: Sapphire is an extraordinary lady - competent, kind, flexible, and concerned. She took care of all arrangements and ongoing management of hospice care. Her staff is more than competent - they love their work, and love the people they care for. It is difficult to conceive a more lovely, love-filled, wonder-full place for Mom's care. Note: Sapphire also owns and manages Holland House in San Mateo.
