Spent Mother's Day weekend with family here, rented a 6 person cabin. The cabin was lovely but I'll…read moreprobably rent 2 next time, 6 people and 1 bathroom is challenging. The beds were supposed to be queen but they were smaller than my queen at home. Plenty of cooking supplies, full size fridge is very nice. Really enjoyed the 11th Hour band on Saturday night, and bingo on Sunday night. A great place for families, if a little expensive. It's very clean, both inside the cabin and everyplace else. I suggest a rug or mat for the front door, it was pouring down rain when we checked in, we used a bedroom rug. So nice to have a place where pets are welcome. Thanks for a great time, we will be back. Ingrid Wright

Second and last time we will come to Island Oaks. The facility itself is nice and clean. However,…read morewe paid $170 a night last weekend 3/6-3/8 and will never go back. One of the main reasons we went was to enjoy the pool. On Friday night the pool and hot tub were full of unsupervised children. The hot tub clearly states 18 and older, yet nobody was out there to enforce this. Also stated kids should not be left at pool alone. Parents were inside at the bar while the kids ran crazy around the place. Saturday was much worse. We got to the pool around 11:00 am and all the chairs were taken up. Most just had a towel thrown on them. Then a large group came in and set their coolers right on the edge of the pool. They also had a very large speaker that they put on full blast with their own music. On top of that, they continued to pull drink after drink from the cooler. Later, they ate sandwiches and chips all while in the pool! At 2:00 pm another group came in and pulled out there large speaker and played on the other end of the pool. Now there was the two groups music plus the resort music playing. The second group also brought a dog in. Turns out both groups were not staying at the resort!!! They were there on day passes. They come in and stay all day and into the evening to watch the band. We were at the pool for four hours before we gave up. During that time, one guy who worked for the resort walked around and never said anything to these obnoxious groups that were obviously breaking the rules. Additionally, nobody came back to the chairs that just had towels lying on them! Other families left because of the swearing and a few mentioned the "F" words on people's hat and t-shirts as something they did not appreciate their kids seeing. It is a shame because this used to be a family friendly resort. Now, they allow the locals to come in and take it over. With the prices they charge for the sites, you should have to be staying there to enjoy the facilities. We will never book there again and ran into at least four other campers that said the same thing.

If you're looking for something truly unique in Jacksonville, The Cove Social Club is such a hidden…read moregem! Located in a 101-year-old building that used to be an A&P grocery store, this space perfectly blends history, creativity, and community. I love that so much of the original architecture has been preserved -- and the fact that it was designed by a woman architect back in the day makes it even more special. The Cove offers so much: daily coffee service, cooking and cake-decorating classes in "The Lab," yoga and meditation on Wellness Wednesdays, Social Sundays focused on mindfulness and connection, and even Art & Wine nights where you can sip, snack, and paint while listening to live music. They're also about to open Sticks & Stones, a private cigar club next door that will be available to members -- it's going to be such a great addition to the experience. The next membership cohort begins November 1st, and spots are limited to just 150 members to keep things community-focused and personal. They also host networking events, lectures, and business education workshops, so it's a great mix of social and professional. Whether you come for a coffee, an event, or to meet new people, The Cove Social Club is one of those places that makes you feel instantly connected and inspired.
