As we walked up, we could hear Selena's music playing through the speakers, along with information about her life and career. It really helped create a meaningful and memorable experience. The statue itself is beautiful and sits under a gazebo, allowing visitors to walk all the way around it. There are plaques and inscriptions that share more about Selena's legacy, and we enjoyed taking the time to read them and reflect on her impact. This is also a fantastic spot for photos. The memorial's location along the Gulf Coast adds to the atmosphere, providing beautiful views and a peaceful setting that complements the tribute perfectly. Whether you're a lifelong Selena fan or simply visiting Corpus Christi, this memorial is definitely worth stopping by. The largest Blue Crab in the world! It's 27' wide, and weighs over a half ton!…read more Everything is bigger in Texas. This crab guards the entrance of the Rockport Beach, one of the finest beaches in Texas. Rockport is known for its seafood that they catch here. The blue crab is one of them! Rockport previously had another crab statue that was on top of a seafood restaurant. It lived there from the 1950's to about the 1970's when it fell into disrepair due to hurricane damage. However, in 2012, artist David Allgood unveiled a bigger better crab. Rockport is really into the arts, and this is a great example! It's across the street from a sculpture garden, and compliments the area nicely! Don't worry, this statue doesn't say anything about the disposition of people from Rockport, they're friendly! The funny thing about this crab is that it's a hermaphrodite. It is a male crab with female claws.

Brand new bridge. Never had traffic on it, but apparently the crack was superficial because they had traffic on it starting today (June 28, 2025). Goodbye old bridge. I guess you weren't tall enough. Not wide enough for the growing coastal city. But you sure were a good one! Traffic always moved fast when I crossed this bridge. Loved the views. Loved the way it used to look. We took this bridge from a couple times from downtown Corpus Christi to North Beach. This is an…read moreold bridge, it was opened to traffic in 1959. I love the arch and all the metal work. We never went across it at night, but in 2011, they added LED lighting system. It would have been cool to see it at night, but the opportunity never arose. You can view this bridge from so many places! We saw it from the Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington on the North Beach side. I'm afraid to report that this bridge is now being replaced with a taller bridge. So tall in fact, that it will be built above the current bridge. It will look very different and modern, a bridge with strands of cables . The new bridge will allow larger ships to pass under it. After the completion of this new bridge, the current one will be demolished. That is what I've read.

TLDR: Very old (1,000+) oak tree that has withstood a vast number of hurricanes. Quick stop, with a…read morenice walking loop around the tree. Located inside a state park and requires an entry fee ($5 pp) to access. Visually, this tree is not as beautiful as some similar senior oaks. For instance, Angel Oak in SC has that magical sprawling limb look while this tree has had many limbs trimmed. It's still amazing to know how long this tree has been around (estimated longer than Angel Oak, placed at 1,000 years at least). Even more impressive is how many hurricanes it's withstood due to its proximity to the Gulf (40-50, according to my research). This tree is located inside Goose Island State Park and thus, requires you to pay the entrance fee to access. $5 per adult; kids 12 and under are free. So you can either cough up the money to see the tree and leave or you can try to find other activities in the park. Personally, I didn't really find anything else for our family to do there that was superior to other activities in the area. There's a fishing pier but it seemed narrow and crowded with fishermen. If you fish or hike, you might find more stuff to do but we came here with toddlers so there wasn't much else for us. This is a nice quick stop. You can do a short walking loop around the tree -- it's very child-friendly. My kids enjoyed running around the tree. There are benches to sit, if desired. I found the poem on the sign a bit comical -- it was solemn and reverent and then at the end, you discovered that it was just an appeal for a donation. Ha. Well done, tree.

This coastal-themed gallery is in a nice little retail space, right across from the Winery on the Bay in the Rockport Arts District. They keep regular hours, but they also have a monthly Arts Walk that the Arts Council coordinates, and they stay open late, serve up some wine, beer and cheese, and show off their greatest works! I really enjoyed the nautical themed paintings, as well as the ones of the local Aransas County wildlife. They also do frames, which look really neat! The owner, Mike was super friendly, let the dog come on in too! The shop was super clean, well lit and fun to visit! Rockport has a reputation for being a funky arts town, and this gallery does a great job of representing!

On the aft of the flight deck, we saw an arrow and stairs to the arresting gear room that had the arresting equipment. (how they stop the landing aircraft within a few hundred feet). I recommend seeing the inside of the home first and then touring the basement. They started building the home in 1874 and moved in during 1877. The family lived in the home until 1895.
