We went over the Harbor Bridge when headed home. I didn't find it as awe inspiring as others. The Fred Hartman bridge across the ship channel to Baytown is almost awe inspiring ( http://ourbaytown.com/Fred%20_Hartman/The%20Hartman%20Bridge%20S.jpg ). Curt C. says this is "The tallest bridge in Texas!" According to Wikipedia, the Fred Hartman bridge is 436 ft feet tall. Almost twice as tall as this bridge at 243 ft. I've seen other claims that it's the longest bridge in Texas. Again, Wikipedia says the Fred Hartman is 1,250 ft. Twice as long as this one at 620 ft. It isn't my intent to disparage this bridge or create a rivalry between Corpus and Houston, but somehow it appears PR for this bridge has gotten out of hand -- or Wikipedia is wrong.

Cool bridge!! Seems like Corpus Christi has kept up with the bridge. I didn't see any damages and it was clean when I drove through it. I used the bridge about 4 times now and i dont have any complaints. Pretty cool landmark for the city of Corpus

As Father Time marches on and Mother Nature continues to provide challenges for most of what mankind considered indestructible when their ideas were conceived and the abstract became reality, rest assure nothing last forever and those living in the era that witnessed the construction of this bridge starting in 1956 and those of us that have known this bridge as the only reasonable route to get across the bay will also witness its demolition and the beginning of something new. Future generations will view the faded photos and read about this amazing structure but will never experience the feelings or have the memories that this bridge has provided for the past 56 years. The city of Corpus Christi moves one step closer to replacing the iconic Harbor Bridge that connects Corpus to nearby Portland across Corpus Christi and Nueces Bays slated for 2017 so the fate of this bridge has been determined as was the draw bridge before it. The Harbor Bridge is a World War II design, so it's safe to say the new bridge won't resemble this bridge in any shape or form, early designs show a ultra modern structure that will carry traffic across the bay far into the next century and the design will be engineered to perform hopefully they understand the new bridge will become a part of the city's skyline and signature and will represent the city for generations to come so they need to get it right. The new bridge will be taller than the existing one as the ships get bigger so do the bridges. The current bridge is 138 feet tall, and the new one will be 205 feet tall. It could be a cable-stayed suspension bridge to counteract the salt water that has been creating havoc on the current steel bridge structure. I expect it to be similar to the Skyway bridge connecting St. Pete with Tampa, Florida carrying a price tag exceeding a billion dollars so don't rule out a toll.

The art is really nice! I was actually pleasantly surprised. I had such a good time taking a look…read moreat all the wonderful pieces especially Dorothy Hood. The only thing that bothered me was the etiquette of some of the other attendees. Some of them were really loud and commenting loudly on each piece which kind of took away from my experience. They also happened to have a dance performance from the Texas AMA inside which is cool, power to all arts including dance but it was distracting and smack dab in the middle of some interesting pieces I would've liked more time with before my flight. Elizabeth's was a cool restaurant. The blood orange ahi tuna was really delicious like spot on. My martini was okay. They didn't have olives and I've had better being from vegas. Prices are fair though and the staff is decently nice. Lots of crying babies in there when I went though which kind of killed the artsy vibe I was hoping for but I guess that happens in a touristy part of town in Texas. Overall it was nice I'm just a sensitive person and enjoy quiet to ponder art and eat my meal so consider that if you're traveling solo and are similar I suppose. Gift shop was cool and I had a nice chat with the lovely lady in there. And the security guard was cool, he let me store my luggage with him. It's a quick walk over from the convention center so if you want a little art time and a quick drink and meal that's super convenient, it's kind of a no brainer.

Wow what an experience. This is a classic in the aircraft carrier world. The museam allows you to…read moretour a significant portion of the ship. We truly enjoyed the experience. The recommendation was to tour all the public levels and then go so the movie (which is no additional charge) at the end. Be ready to climb some steps and do a lot of walking. The have a single elevator however that only goes one floor. It's not really an accesable museum. We spent many hours on our selfguided tour. It took almost an entire day. I'm sure, if you don't have the time, you can speed it up but we were not in a hurry.

By far the best tourist attraction in Corpus Christi is the USS Lexington. If you're a museum lover…read moreor a military history fan, this place is an absolute must-visit. Plan to spend about 3-4 hours if you want to explore every level, read the exhibits, and fully experience everything the ship has to offer. Admission was only $20, and the value is incredible. You can climb all the way to the top of the ship, and they even have a "walk the plank" experience where you step off the side of the ship (safely, of course). There are tons of interactive and 3D-style exhibits throughout, making it fun for families, kids, and history buffs alike. I genuinely enjoyed myself and would definitely go back. If you're in Corpus Christi, this is the highlight of the city.
