Add to this a really wonderful staff: helpful, knowledgable and it is easy to see why I have been shopping here for at least 20 years now; from before they moved to this site. There is also a large selection of frozen prepared meals - I could appreciate more that wasn't "gluten free" but I know this fad is very profitable. It's been transformative switching from a vegan plant based diet to animal protein lifestyle but it's forcing me to discover new local grocery stores. My most recent discovery in Langley is Heritage meats. I prefer to buy meat at a specialty shop, rather than a supermarket for freshness and quality. I confirmed their beef is grass fed raised up until the last stage of life and then fed oats, barley and rosemary to fatten them up. Which sounds cruel but at least they are given free range. Heritage meats reminds me of Bosa foods inside. They have son-in-law products in the freezer--artisan meat pies, Bison sausage etc.. The only downside to this shop is it's very pricey however that's that cost of good quality. They also have a little niche of local Fraser valley loose tea blends which look amazing. read more

The store has good variety in exotic meats. That's probably the only thing I can think of that's good I guess. However If I could give a 0 star I would. DO NOT WORK HERE. In a nutshell management is horrible- they only care about making a buck. Doesn't matter if your mental health or sanity is at risk. This is why they have such a high turnover rate. Supervisors treat employees horribly. E.I. Jan was horrible. Incredibly condescending and rude. If they are not happy with you they will continue to cut your hours until they completely ghost you. They will screw you over in any way they can. Like for instance they didn't take any income tax off at the end of the year. I am always puzzled by bad reviews of really superlative outlets. So many seem to trail (fraudulent to my nose) coats of expertise. Some I have read here left a VERY bad taste in my mouth, so I should warn you that I"m coming in a bit reactionary. I just cook. I just love good food. I just appreciate knowledgable staff and friendly (not servile) attention. I have bought every possible kind of meat, game & poultry from Heritage for several years now. I go there for my twice yearly solstice feasts, knowing that they will always have venison, elk, pheasant & duck in stock. I go there whenever I need some really good cuts of fresh meat. Over the years I have bought almost everything they make in store: sausage, prepared dinners, tortiere (oh please bring back your own!) And it is always reliable delicious. Yeah, sometimes I prefer different spicing, but I CAN always make it myself, if so!!! Living in Langley, as I do, I am lucky to have access to a lot of naturally grown meat; but Heritage remains my favourite place to shop locally for specialty meals and embellishments. I will let others jump on the gluten bandwagon -- one I avert my eyes from in a fad-allergic reaction; but its nice they have it for the fashionable eaters. Someone has to do it. I love chatting with people there, love the interest in food and the willingness to cut things to the size I want; to engage with me in what will work best & to talk about.. well, you know, cooking. The meat is not cheap. Battery grown poultry is cheap. Pigs crammed into such small pens they can't move is cheap. Beef producers stoke their animals with chemicals to keep them cheap. You get what you pay for: I choose to eat less meat of higher quality, and when it is of this quality, it is infinitely more satisfying than huge slabs of tasteless protein. So, to end: No, you won't get your precious ego stroked here, you won't get your short man syndrome assuaged. And you can save more money if you shop at (fill in the big box blank) Go somewhere else -- those of us just shopping and cooking will be glad of the room! but if you just want GREAT STUFF......!!!!!!!!!! read more

Heritage meats has a good variety of organic meats. Great steaks & bacon for sure! tried their chicken pepperoni last time, and it was super fresh and delicious. I continued to be Impressed with their game selection, although I have never purchased game meat from them, I browse it each visit. recently had an unimpressive visit, as one employee was listening in on another customers conversation about the price of meat being cheaper else where, and she said "yeah if you want to eat those chemicals and poison yourself, you can go ahead and buy cheap meat" although I see her point and passion behind the product she is selling, there is a fine line between educating the customer on the best choices, and why the meat may cost a bit more, and giving unsolicited, verging on rude advice. read more

Great meat/high end grocery shop! There was a LivingSocial deal for them this week so I took advantage of it before the weather turned rainy... nice find in Langley and similar to stores like Meinhardt, etc. Nice selection of meat including wild game, and great assortment of grocery items from organic breads, packaged goods to sauces/oils/vinegars and snacks. The cured meat and buffalo we ate last night was excellent! I also found these awesome wraps that I haven't found other than in the US so very happy. Definitely a good local shop and I'd come back if I lived in the area. read more

Unfortunately I was late in redeeming my offer by 2 days. Not only did they refuse me the offer, but also refused me the $20 prepaid amount & told me to get it from Living Social. The best meat we ever had ! This place is awesome. Staff is very friendly to and location is super clean. Quality is the best you can get. This meat shop has excellent potential but their staff are mostly terrible to deal with. There were two people in there I could count on to help with a smile. Stella and Moriah. Always fast and courteous. Recently Moriah is gone and Stella looks like she is trying to do two peoples jobs at once. Jan is always terrible and is condescending if you have an issue and demeaning to other staff members and there is some new girl who I hope has an attitude change away from lazy for the sake of all who go there. I think management has dropped the ball on hiring staff. Why keep staff who are awful? It hurts your business and makes me want to find someplace else to buy my meats. read more

I have been looking for a meat market that properly ages their beef. I just bought 2 ribeye steaks from heritage, $52.00. I barbecued them to medium-rare. One was barely edible and the other was so tough my wife's jaw ached after trying to chew it. They may age their beef but they buy poor quality meat to begin with so aging does no good. Nope. Not going to fool you. I have absolutely nothing nice to say about my last, and I mean my last experience with Heritage Meats. As an executive chef, when I make an order from a supplier, whether it be from GFS Services, Sysco or the little farmer down the street, I expect that my order will be fulfilled and delivered on time as ordered. This allows me to continue with menu and event planning and is critical to having different foods pre-cooked or partially prepared in advance so that when final ingredients arrive, the process is completed in a timely manner and spoilage is kept to a minimum. However when I have a custom order for 50 pounds if Italian sausage prepared for an event, and the meat has been prepared up until the last ingredient (Pork Back Fat) has to be added and stuffing can begin, its a HUGE deal when the fat isn't delivered on time and there are no other alternatives available, its now COSTLY. Both in product and time. What could possibly make that process or omission by a supplier worse? Thats right, a grumpy old bald butcher! Yup, should have gotten his name. Probably could be found under the heading of ignorant, self-absorbed. Todays on duty butcher couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge they screwed up or even give me the time of day before he went back to cutting and wrapping, leaving me at the counter to figure it out for myself with a smug look on his face that simply said, "help the next customer"! Wait a minute, your not even going to offer to say sorry, or hey, we messed up, what can do to help you fix this? Nope. nothing more than a cold shrug of the shoulders and walked away. Damage done. I walked away and out of the store....NEVER to return because of the actions of ONE single solitary person, whom I might add is probably from an era that has no clue or understanding of the power of social media and what it can achieve. No , the days of Thomas Edison and the rotary telephone are more in order, and so is the way of the Dodo bird. I am now going to give my business back to Britco Pork, which is a commercial processor in Langley, OPEN to the public and has wholesale pricing. Did I mention they can also provide and deliver ANY product within 24hrs notice, and without the highway robbery prices! Good Luck to all and hopefully the owner has the insight to make some immediate changes into poor employee behaviour that costs him client and revenue. I can attest to all the other reviews here. It's nice to see a shop that have Gluten Free Items and Non-Medicated Meats. Quite the variety on stuff that you haven't really seen around. Or could you? My experience as a first time customer in their store has me not EVER going back there again. The Customer Service for this business is far a joke! No greeting at the cashier tills, no smiles and no greeting on the way in or out of the store. Geez, no appreciation that I was even shopping at their store and I wasn't even alone. Can't imagine what their experience was as well. So far not a good impression. Would I mention this store to my friends and family? You bet! Here's what I would say. The cashier didn't even ring up our items until all the items were on the counter and we had a lot of items. Not much space on their counter. Just imagine how much I had to pile on their counter. So you would think that the person would begin scanning the items and place it in the bags. Nope the person just stood there watching us as we placed the items on the counter. Not to mention there were other customers lining up behind us. Then the cashier didn't even offer the bag too us we had to take it from the counter with nothing said. That was a WEIRD experience!!!! I have NEVER experienced this type of ignorance or rude behavior from other stores in the local area or other high end shops ever! No prices on some of the products, you have to go look for someone who's far too busy with someone else. Waited far too long to get assistance at the Meat and Deli counter when it wasn't busy. No one was there. Employees were shouting back and fourth at each other to assist customers when it did get busy. Doesn't seem to be very organized. Some products are priced I thought too high even though it's a high end grocery shop, nevertheless, I did buy their items. Overall, because of my experience, it has left me to go to their competitor which have reasonable prices for high end gourmet stuff and superb customer service just down the street. I bought beef from heritage meats for about 2 months before discovering there grass fed beef isn't actually grass fed. They can get away with calling it grass fed because the cows are fed grass at birth (all cows are) but they are finished on grain. You can ask them and confirm for yourself there beef is "grass fed-grain finished". avoid them who knoows what else they are lying about. read more

I looked through reviews for a butcher in Langley and Heritage was head and shoulders above the others. I went in knowing that I would be paying more than average for the roast I was looking for. My wife normally does our shopping and will generally buy our meat from Costco as we have two teenager boys that eat like it's going out of style. Upon entering the shop I was stuck by the selection of products available (not just meat). As I approached the counter I was immediately greeted in the most professional manner. I am not an expert in meat cuts but had a pretty good idea of what I wanted and how many I expected to feed. Their product was explained to me and I had my selection cut to size right away. I happily paid for the product and the service was an added bonus. When it's daddy's turn to cook, I will come back to Heritage for sure. Beautiful grocery store and butcher shop lots of variety but I'm very unimpressed with their meats. Purchased a 23$ rack of lamb on the 22 and set out to cook it the 27th for a family diner. I opened the paper envelop and the lamb was ready to move on its own it was so rotten... and the smell, I'm ready to turn vegetarian. I'm starting to think that they sold us a piece of meat that was already rotten it was so bad. I called them to tell them the situation and got the classic, "it's not our fault" reply. Even if I still had the receipt and all. I understand that it's not in the norm to return meats but I'm sorry, you are the one selling a product that is not fresh, how is that not your fault?! I'm pretty sure that if it were fresh it would last longer than 5 days (or should I say 1) in the fridge. So unless you think of cooking your meat the night of, I wouldn't bother. Bottom line, their meats are far from fresh (better off buying a value pack at superstore), extremely expensive and the service...well it could use some improvement. It saddens me because we are not the kind of family that can afford to treat ourselves with 'good' meats very often. read more

After reading a review on here claiming their beef was not exclusively grass fed I decided to give them a call and ask for myself. I asked to speak to the manager and he confirmed that their beef is grass raised but grain finished. I have been a loyal customer for 2 years and was surprised to find out that the meat being advertisted as grass fed was actually not. I wasted thousands of dollars thinking I was getting real grass fed beef I feel like a fool now. Very disappointed. read more

Had a BAD experience there recently when I purchased 10 pounds pre-packaged and frozen LEAN ground beef.The sales clerk assured me that their lean ground beef had very little fat content as that was a big concern for me. When I went to use some of it I was surprised to find that what I paid for was NOT what was wrapped in the individual packages. Instead I had been given their REGULAR ground beef product! Took it all back and the mgr agreed that I had infact been provided with the WRONG product and reluctantly agreed to refund my money. He was trying to be "SMART" by attempting to "EDUCATE" (his word) me on how to buy ground beef but I suggest it is "HE' who needs to be "EDUCATED" on how to provide the customer with the correct product for which they have been charged!!!
