We have officially been at this childcare center long enough to post a genuine review. We had nothing but positive things to say after day one, but I always like to let some time pass before I actually leave a review. The facility is located in a nice place and that's convenient for us to get to. I have not seen the facility in a disarray or dirty. It is massive. It is nice and it seems like it is new, but has been around along time. This means they take care of it. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and even on my worst day, they have way to put a smile on my face. Especially them offering a mini coffee bar on Fridays. Although, it would be nice on a Monday to help kick off the week LOL, but I'm not complaining. I'm so grateful for everything that this facility has done for my family and even my children that don't attend the facility are happy to come pick up their sibling. My son feels safe and he's always happy to go to school. Even on Saturdays he's asking "Is today a school day?". He knows all of his teachers names and their favorite colors. This may be something small, but to me it's saying that they're actually personable with him and sharing a piece of their world with the ones that they care for or come in contact with. It doesn't feel like a daycare facility or a preschool. It actually feels like you're leaving your child with family members. The ones that everyone dreams of. The ones that love and care for your kid like their own. Truly, something special and you can't put a price on quality like that. Which leads me to my next point ... price is very important, especially in the society that we live in ... very important. Sometimes you're paying for the name of the company versus quality that they offer. I won't go into too much detail about the prices, but I do know that they offer military discount and that speaks volumes for me being a disabled veteran and needing help often. It seems fair and reasonable. Sometimes I don't get a chance to make breakfast before dropping off my kiddo... and they offer to give him breakfast. I believe it's a dollar a day and you can add the breakfast plan or your account. Having that option is wonderful. Aside from breakfast, snacks and lunch are included in the base price. With all that being said, I am thankful that we found this place and decided to go with this location versus any others. Forever grateful for HLC. This daycare was the cheapest option in McKinney when our other 2 were in school. Having an OK experience and having a few teachers we loved, we decided to put our youngest in, at 17 months. He has been bit at least 5 times in the past 3 months and skin has been broken a few of those bites. He was also on a structure outside and the teacher wasn't watching the kids, he fell and had to go to the ER. Beware of the neglect and lack of training. My 5 year old was unable to start Kinder this past fall, due to a mid-month September birthday. I wanted him prepped for Kinder, and had heard excellent recommendations for Heritage. We requested a tour last fall, and we were ecstatic! Heritage supplied tons of summer fun, as well as high expectations for staff and students. We were super impressed with the structure and communication to parents about weekly learning, and upcoming events. We felt very happy about the "book club" each week, equivalent to guided reading groups in Kinder. Our son learned like 50 sight words, and is a pretty confident reader at this point! Spanish class offered was cool, although we were not informed of the weekly objectives. His Pre-K class had about 30 kids, but 2 full time teachers. Very awesome class routine and structue. We highly recommend this facility for your child, at any age, but especially Pre-K! read more

My daughter is starting Pre-K this year at HLC which will be her fourth and final year at this wonderful school. The staff and her teachers have been absolutely amazing and really made us feel like we were part of the family. In her three years at HLC so far, she has started reading, become proficient at basic addition and subtraction, has built a Spanish vocabulary that's greater than mine and my wife's put together and learned the behavior and social skills that will be necessary as she moves on to Kindergarten and beyond. read more

I would never recommend anyone to send their kid to this school. They talk a good game, but their actions say different. My son was there for three weeks when they told him he had to leave with no prior warning. We enrolled him at a new and better school and did not have any issues at all. It was this school that was the issue. Not my son!! We were proactive from the start to make his transition easier and the school could care less. I should have took more time to review their state violations because they had enough to where it made me uncomfortable of send my kid there in the first place!!! Very disappointed. Steer clear. I toured last week and was quoted the price for a January/ February start. I called and was told a price increase had been finalized four days after I visited and I would have to pay a $20-30 higher price for care in January. I explained that I had been quoted a lower price last week and they did not care, but held with the new higher price. I explained in full how we had shopped around and that they had before this change had a competitive price despite the maximum ratios at Heritage. I double checked that they were in no way interested in working with us on the pricing after changing the offered prices on us within a week with no notice. This is extremely unprofessional of them, and shows that it is very much a bulk operation with impersonal care taken in the process of offering, "care," for children and business interactions for parents. While at the facility I expressed concern that the childrens' bedding was stacked all together in two of the rooms. The director did not seem to think this a cause for hygiene concern. I asked the director about potty supervision in the preschool room and she turned it around and expressed concern that my child might not be able to potty and wash his hands with cursory or no supervision. This seemed odd to me considering that this age group has just learned to use the toilet, and does normally still require reinforcement and supervision of correct hand washing and toilet use behaviors. While I visited, children using the toilet were ignored during use, and teachers were occupied with other children. I was shown the outdoor facilities, and the director explained that children would use the bathroom as needed outside. With the maximum 15:1 ratio allowed, and one teacher. It was very clear that if the children used the toilet outside they would not be supervised while the teacher was watching the other 14 children on the playground. Although this ratio is allowed, I would definitely be concerned to have my child completely unsupervised in a bathroom outside, while his/ her teacher is occupied with observing 14 other children. The Director said they had also sent out information to all of their parents that the price had gone up. I would not be especially thrilled to have a surprise increase if my child was already attending, and am in this way glad that I did not sign my child up already. They had absolutely no concerns about how this was done. The director apologized, but said they would do nothing about the situation they had caused. I described how the ratio was 7:1 or less at Spanish Schoolhouse for about the same price; $663 at Plano ISD staff preschool including hot lunch;$660 for St. Mary's in Sherman with a 1:5.5 ratio; $808 for a private preschool program at The Goddard School with a 1:10 ratio; and there Heritage sat... charging about $800 for a 1:15 ratio... I explained that this surprise change made them no longer competitive locally for teachers who often receive a 10% discount at many preschools. The director said she would relay this to the owner. I made sure she understood how dissatisfied I was with their conduct, I thanked her for calling to clarify, and asked that she also relay my intention of giving extremely poor online reviews for wasting my time, and putting me in the position of having to make a last minute decision about childcare when we had deliberated and shopped for a month. I am uncertain of the legalities concerning such an abrupt price change, but do not appreciate that my time was wasted in considering the facility as I was comparing what they had to offer at the quoted price and now it is not a fair comparison as it is one of the higher priced I viewed for private preschools with the highest ratio allowable. This is the bulk discount store of preschools - I would hate for them to treat my child with such apathy as they responded to my concerns with. To quote Tom Hanks in You've Got Mail: "It's not personal, it's business." Thank you, Heritage for making it amply clear BEFORE I signed my child up that he would be treated as simply another cog in the wheel, another needle in a haystack... as it was so resoundingly communicated to me through the director's tepid, "sorry," that it is another dollar and another day at the, "learning center." Please parents, be wise to what they are about at Heritage before your child has to learn the hard way what it's like to be "discounted" as one of the many in a school where they keep the ratios as high as possible, and the prices the same. As far as I can discern, they are counting on busy parents not having time to research and find that while the price may be similar to another private preschool, the classes are kept as large as possible to maximize profits. I will soon be relaying this information to the BBB, FTC (for my price change concerns), and Texas DFPS local Child Care Licensing Agency to address my hygiene concerns. read more

HLC is absolutely amazing! My three kids love this place. The staff communicates really well and everyone is aware of all programs. The facility is super well kept and inviting and very educational for all ages. My eight year old is always asking to go to Heritage instead of summer camp cuz it's so much fun. Heritage has made a wonderful environment for my children to be in and is worth every penny. Just an amazing wonderful place and I'm glad I found this facility for my kids. read more

Wonderful experience with Heritage. All of the teachers that we had (Ms. Katlyn, Ms. Lisha, Ms. Mary, Ms. Becky, Ms. Jada and the support teachers) were fantastic. The school has a great structure that encourages learning while having a great balance of fun. Summers are full of fun events. BEST CHILDCARE CENTER ANYWHERE! 25 years ago I went to heritage and it is a FAMILY created facility that invested love and memories that have carried through my entire life. It is the ONLY place I would ever take my son. They haven't been a child care facility, they have been family and haven't once treated me or my childcare needs like a corporation. I am a first grade teacher and work with some students who attend the summer programs there and I am most impressed with their school in every aspect. From the little ones to the big kids, they are all happy and having fun learning. You will not find a better place to have your children in daycare than Heritage, They are always positive and friendly and it is the closest thing to a true home environment that you can get without staying home. The kids love their on site dog and the teachers are amazing! They love and hug on those kids all day long and teach them problem solving skills that will carry through in life. Great place to take your kid before and after school. Beware of their payment plans. I opted to pay the extra $ to cover summer tuition, which was a $20 difference. After a couple of months, I was able to put my child in a different after school program, and a buddy was able to help with the mornings. I pulled my child out of the daycare, spending $200 more than I would have if I would have paid the regular weekly rate. They will NOT refund your money and will not put it towards summer tuition if you where to bring your child back in the summer. They take your money if you move, or pull your child out early...just do not opt for this plan if you think you may change the way your child gets to school. You could be 6 months in and they will not refund your money. read more

Very bad experience. My daughter was only there a few months and she was being sent to the office almost ever day. What I found out is they don't allow kids to "tattle" so it's up to your child to resolve their own conflicts, then they get in trouble if they retaliate to being pushed or hit. My son just graduated from PreK at Heritage. He was at Heritage for two years. I am a first grade teacher, so I'm judging a preschool from a parent and teacher's perspective. I am so impressed with Heritage! My son loved going there and he grew, developed, and learned so much in his time there. The small group reading program they do with the PreK kids was right on for what students need in order to be prepared for kindergarten. The cost was very reasonable when compared with other preschools and daycares. My son could not have had better PreK teachers. They were so kind and loving, but they also had amazing classroom management. All of the staff were friendly and helpful on a consistent basis. Not only did I know my son would be cared for every day when I dropped him off, but I knew he was going to be learning and thriving. I highly recommend Heritage to all my teacher friends! We moved to Texas from the east coast earlier this year and had no clue where to send our boys. They started at another daycare in McKinney (a larger chain) and it was an awful experience! After more research, I did a tour of Heritage with Ms. Dee Dee (the director) and I knew immediately that this was the place for us! The staff is warm and friendly...and so are the kids! The summer program was awesome with a nice variety of activities that kept them busy. They do a great job making Heritage a fun place for the kids to learn and play! We love the book club (which helps pre-K kiddos start to learn how to read), the water park on grounds, the "Fun Bus", after school care, along with several other classes they offer. We absolutely love the teachers they've had so far...Ms. Mary, Ms. Becky, Ms. Becca, Ms. Abby, Ms. Bree, Ms. Karla & Ms. Kelly. Heritage is a wonderful school...We had looked at several schools in McKinney and think we have made the best decision for our family. My daughter has learned so much even Spanish. We can't wait till summer they offer so many field trips (they even have water park on campus)The staff is always friendly and always willing to listen. The office staff couldn't be more helpful. I am a mom of two boys and they have both been going to Heritage since they were about 18 months. They are currently 7 and 4 and we love this school. My oldest was with an in home sitter for the first 12 months and then we moved him to a day care in McKinney which ended up not being as good as I thought. After many issues there I was recommended to Heritage and we have been extremely happy ever since. For grades K and up they have a clubhouse for before/after school and also for the summer. They keep exciting things on the calendar for them to do every week. There are even summer calendar's for the younger ones, they just do things on site. The staff is and always has been pleasant and the director Ms. DeeDee is wonderful! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great place for their child. read more

This is a great school with warm and loving teachers. The family who owns this school are wonderful and truly love children and it shows with who they hire. My children went their for over 3 years and it was the best experience for them. I liked that it is educational, as well as fun for them. They also bring in a variety of extracurricular ...dance, Fun Bus, karate, legos, computer classes, just to name a few. My 7 year old son attended the summer 2014 program. He got to go to three field trips a week which is top notch. The field trips included LegoLand, medieval times, Top Golf, and many other cool places. Even after all this my son asked me early on why the teachers screamed at the kids so much? He asked me one night what the big bad book was? He said the teacher says that's were bad kids go. He was tentative to go every morning and asked me when does school start so he can go back? In all honesty this place has no genuine love for children. As other reviewers have noted it is ran like a business. Both my husband and I emailed the director and she never replied to our calendar/ billing questions but she is quick to send emails to please rate this school #1 in McKinney and to sign up for the after school program. On my sons first day there the teacher didn't even say hi or welcome. I had a gut feeling but shrugged it off. I was really rooting to like his place. This was once a great school but the director has lost her focus. She is hiring non- degreed teachers and just about half of their degreed teachers have quit. A recent hire, a self-titled education specialist was hired to help with behavior. She is non- degreed, yells at children and takes what children do personally. The school is not progressive and is ran like a business. They have a reputation for expelling kids when it's their own negative environment that perpetuates lack luster behavior. If you are fortunate there are 2 very good pre-k teachers left. They've been there for years. Other than that find another place. Prices continue to increase but quality is going down. My daughter lost her pre k teacher mid year. She was awesome. Bottom line pay your teachers what they're worth and get your staff proper training. Years of experience means nothing when your behavior specialist hasn't taken one child psychology class. She's completely incompetent and this is a reflection of the director. There are no positive redirects just time out and sending kids to the office, this includes 2 year olds. A parent recently observed a teacher yelling and handling a child inappropriately. That teacher was not fired but only placed on a warning. This happened in my daughter's class. There was no notification to parents and it was swept under the rug. Your kids will be reading by kinder but they will have some emotional scars from this place. Find a balanced learning environment and a place that has genuine love for children. read more
