We built a brand new home in 2021. The dirt and field that we built on was former pasture…read more Our builder was amazing but the landscaping was something that we didn't discuss at length, and we certainly didn't know the right things to ask. So we got the typical sod rolled out before we closed on the house. Over time, the rocks and weeds over took our lawn, and we were left with a weed infested ugly lawn adorning our gorgeous modern farmhouse. We talked to several landscapers, many of them recommended, tearing out all of the green space and replacing it after replacing all the dirt. When Ryan's came out to talk to us, discussed their program where our lawn is pretreated for each season, and the lawn is treated for specific weeds or noxious grasses. At the end of the year, our grass is starting to grow back in, we do not have any weeds, including dandelions. We are confident that we saved our grass and avoided expensive re-working of the lawn. I wanted to leave a compliment specifically for the most recent treatment in December 2023. The technicians applied the granules and those are meant to treat the lawn and allow it to sleep for winter. This treatment prevents the early emerging bugs and yuck from spreading in the spring. I watched on my ring camera that they applied the granules all around our lot, but here's the special thing: they took the time to use a leaf blower and remove all the granules from our sidewalk and driveway. That is such amazing service! Not only does this prevent damage to our concrete, but it allows us to have clear sidewalks if we need to treat for snow and ice. That little detail is not something I would've thought of but it's something that I noticed and I want to think them for that extra effort! When they were done with the last treatment of this year, they made sure to let us know, and assured us that they would be back in the spring as we begin 2024 with a healthy lawn.

The Ryan team has been very responsive to each request I've made about landscaping and lawn care.read more

In my experience, when everything goes well rarely do people provide feedback. Reviews are…read moregenerally negative. That is not the case here. We have been using this team for multiple years and have been very satisfied / no issues / all good. The gentleman that has been working with us for years has retired and a new tech came to our house to work on our sprinklers. It was not the best experience - in fairness he was early in his career (we have all been there). Long story but punchline is a water line burst in our basement while he was working on the sprinklers - I wasn't home - so my wife notified him that water was shooting everywhere - not good. Unfortunately - he did not know how to shut off the "main" had to call his supervisor. Precious time had been lost and several personal items in our basement were ruined. Not expensive things - sentimental things like pictures. I came home immediately and saw the mess and was appropriately upset. My wife and I were retrieving stuff / cleaning. We were told that a plumber needed to assess - his company is not (nor does it advertise to be) certified plumbers - they focus on irrigation. In the heat of the moment that did not make a difference to me - I was angry. Meanwhile - we secured an emergency plumber to come at 9:00p and it was going to be expensive. I was convinced the broken pipe was not a coincidence - that it had to be tied to the irrigation issue. I conversed with the Lawn team via email and said I hope the owner comes with an open mind tomorrow to help us get to some sort of common / good answer - and I will try to do the same. When the emergency plumber arrived - I didn't tell him the irrigation company or tech - I just said - "could he have caused this?". The plumber said "no - nothing he could have done would have caused this - the house is 15+ years old and parts wear out and he has seen this before - they just break". In fairness, he did say the tech should have known how to shut off the main as that would have mitigated much of the damage. Once the plumber completed the repairs I emailed the owner saying "he was right - it was not his tech - I apologize for so quickly assigning the blame". I said I do look forward to meeting him tomorrow as we still have a sprinkler head issue to resolve - but I do regret how quick I was to judge. This morning was parked outside of our house 5 minutes before the scheduled time. I met him on the front porch - we looked eye to eye - and he said "thank you for the update last night". It was sincere - I owned my own small business for many years. When things go wrong it is very stressful - and things will go wrong - people are not perfect / no one is. We reviewed the plumber's work and then he said lets get that sprinkler fixed. He did it himself - no one else there - just hand on shovel and in the mud. He then knocked to inform me that it was all done. I asked him "what do I owe you?" - and his answer was "nothing - you have been through enough the past 12 hours". Think about that - I attacked his business without incorrect assumptions - and he still took the high ground. One true thing in life - character is not revealed in good times - it is when things go South you wee what the person's character is. We shook hands - looked each other in the eye with mutual respect and everything has turned out fine. So my point in all of this - mistakes happen - but what I experienced today was an owner of a business doing the best he can to do the right thing. Respect for him. Of course I wish I never had to deal with the water leakage issue - but in some ways I am grateful. Glad to know there are good people out there and are fighting the good fight. What I experienced was that the owner was a fair and decent man - and we walked away on good terms. That seems like a rare thing in this world today - so it was really impactful to me - I saw what the man was made of / his actions when things went bad and I respect him for that. Thank you Jason. Michael

Fine for maintenance type things, but don't ask them to do the hard stuff - i.e. plumbing. Had a…read morevalve totally replaced by them last November and I have crews here doing some work and we're moving some sprinkler stations around, but this crew showed me inadequate/flimsy connections to the valve they replaced not a year ago. The landscaping crews turned it on just now and the water gushed out of the weak joint. I need it repaired now, so this crew is going have to do it. I've been using Lawn and Sprinkler Guys for basic maintenance for years, but I'm going to choose a more competent company for this type of work. I'm out over $500, plus the cost of repairs today, so be forewarned!

I just want to share what a GREAT experience I had with Ryan Lawn & Tree! On Monday morning, a…read morelarge tree limb fell from our silver maple onto our front yard. I called Ryan--as a new customer, on the recommendation of our neighbors--to see if they could take care of the limb and, if so, how quickly, and how much it might cost. I spoke with Cindy in reception. She was delightful!! She was kind and reassuring and took down all our information. She promised that someone would be able to stop by to give us a free estimate on the job (even if we weren't home) and would email us with the details. Within 2 hours, Jared (their arborist) knocked on our door. He was very professional, friendly and patient in answering all my questions. We talked about the cost estimate and, while he was there, I showed him the brush pile in our back yard that also needed to be hauled away. He was able to give me an estimate for the combined jobs and promised to expedite the scheduling once we formally approved the estimate. Jared was as good as his word; he sent us the estimate before the end of the day, and my husband and I talked about it and were able to send him our approval by the next afternoon (Tuesday). By 12:00 noon on Wednesday, the crew was at our home to take care of both the tree limb and the brush pile. They worked very efficiently, and within a few hours had both jobs done and completely cleaned up the areas. WOW!! From start to finish, the tree limb--and the brush pile--were completely taken care of, at a reasonable cost, by folks who were both incredibly friendly and great at their jobs. MANY thanks to everyone at Ryan--especially Cindy and Jared and the entire crew at our house--for taking SUCH good care of us!! We appreciate you!

I used Embassy from October 2016-Dec 2018. My first year experience with Trevor (no longer at…read moreEmbassy) was fantastic. Great attention to detail, almost daily visits, wonderful landscaping, mowing, edging, sprinkler work. Once Trevor left, my experiences declined sharply. I was passed from one rep to another. The quality of the weekly service declined markedly. The costs incurred for services not rendered were amazing. I had to read the bill carefully, as extra mowing and treatments were not done but charged for. In the spring of 2018, they discovered a major valve leak in the main water supply to the sprinkler system because of putting off my winterization in the fall of 2017. It took 2 crews and 5 guys to repair. I had to argue and fight to not pay for the repair, which was because of their negligence. The work last summer was haphazard and shoddy. Little to no follow up despite calls and emails. I was then charged $539.03 in Nov/Dec 2018 for winter fertilization/sprinkler blowout and a final mow. This spring, despite the abundant moisture, my front yard was snow white as of 03.15.19. I was informed after requesting service, that Embassy "was no longer in the residential lawn care business". My new lawn company assured me that the yard had recieved no winter fertilizer/weed treatments....barely anything that I paid for in Nov/Dec 2018 was actually done. My new company is doing a soil sample to prove this. It doesn't state on this site that they are not in the residential business any longer, but I was so poorly treated from late 2017 through 2018, that I felt that I needed to vent and publically state what a disaster this experience was. If you have a business, DO NOT consider them for your landscape needs. Their guys actually run behind mowers, pay little attention to anything missed, do not edge correctly, may or may not blow off sidewalks and drives. Can't imagine them treating businesses better than individuals. I paid an average of $300/month for services. Should have bought a Snapper mulcher and done things myself. For a company with such a supposed great rep in KC, they certainly treated this homeowner very poorly.

This story begins with scheduling the removal of an old sweet gum tree from my front yard. I needed…read moreto find an irrigation company to come out soon after the tree was removed to activate my system this Spring and make sure there were no issues caused by the tree removal - timing was a big deal. After getting bids from several companies and trying to get on someone's schedule, I was contacted by Reeves Irrigation with an offer to activate my system that worked when I needed it to be accomplished - and for a VERY reasonable price. I had some exchanges with Tyler (the owner) and learned that while this was his second year out on his own, he had previous irrigation experience with other employers. Since I was just after an activation and to make sure the zone where the tree was didn't have any damage, I decided to take a chance on his company - I'm glad I did! He showed up on time, did a full inspection of the system and noted a few heads that were leaking (which I already knew about from my activation last year). I also made him aware of a leaking pipe underground near the curb that would need to be addressed and fixed at some point as well. "Some point" turned out to be during his visit as he had the necessary materials to fix the issue after he exposed the pipe to discover the lateral crack that it had. While he was there, I also had him replace the leaking heads from last year - he even made time to relocate one of the heads from a plant bed to the lawn. When finished, he did a zone inspection again to make sure everything was adjusted and operating correctly while making some minor adjustments to a few heads. Before he left, I discussed getting a different controller that could be operated remotely via WiFi. We discussed various options, and I am having him out again in a couple of weeks to put a new (modern) controller in. In closing let me say that my Hunter irrigation system has been in use for around 20 years or so. Over the past two decades I have used numerous companies to service my irrigation needs. Very few are companies that I wanted to keep as service providers...either due to results, price (or both). Furthermore, when I was lucky enough to find a tech that I felt comfortable with, I was never guaranteed that I would get him again as many switch companies, relocate or just get out of the business altogether. Two of my former favorite irrigation companies are no longer in the business, and it's been a struggle to find a company to replace them...until now. If you have an irrigation system that needs to be activated or serviced, I highly recommend that you give Reeves Irrigation a shout. Like me, I think you will be very happy that you did!
