Heritage house was a wonderful experience that one would need to have at least once. The small town of Opelika, Al is the most hallmark city ever and has so many great things to do. Coming from A big city with too many people with too much hustle and bustle, it's a nice slow down. But this beautiful bed and breakfast, which was a first for me, was a great experience. All of the nostalgic/historic furniture and motifs were a very unique view point of how society looked In years past. The owners Dani and Leif were super nice and accommodating. I hope more people will support locally owned and operated businesses like this for historical restoration buildings. FYI, there is a pinball/ video game bar that sells comic books in town and a speakeasy. Very, very lovely people and must go to place on your list. We rented out this beautiful home for my daughter's outside wedding. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The hosts were wonderful. No one missed a breakfast! Their lemon ricotta pancakes are fabulous! I can also attest to their brioche French toast. It is pictured with blueberry sauce but we were also offered maple syrup. The pineapple cup with pecans was really good! Also enjoyed the homemade biscuit with a choice of 3 jams! No one is leaving the breakfast table hungry! They also serve a classic breakfast with eggs and hash browns and biscuit, etc. I would recommend staying here to anyone! Conveniently located in the historical district near downtown Opelika. We love staying at this charming historical bed & breakfast when we visit our nephew who goes to school at Auburn. It is located in a charming town not far from the university. The hosts are so accommodating, and really make you feel at home. The rooms all have a different theme, and each are appointed with antique furnishing and other neat decor. This visit we stayed in the Seaside room, and loved it. The breakfast is by far one of my favorite parts of the place! We stayed for 3 nights, and enjoyed different options each morning. We would always start with a small yogurt & fruit parfait sprinkled with some nuts on top. For our main entrees, we tried the lemon ricotta pancakes, 2 eggs with hash browns, and the shrimp & grits. All delicious! They also had these amazing biscuits served with butter and jam (to die for). We enjoyed every moment of our stay. They have a beautiful porch with rocking chairs to relax in the shade. Their lawn is like a golf course, and great to play croquet on. We were on the end of a 30 day road trip through the southeast and we needed to make a 1 night stop approximately 1/2 way between Asheville NC and New Orleans to close out the journey. My second stay at Heritage House was just as wonderful as the first. My room was beautiful, clean and comfortable, including the bed. The entire home is an opportunity to feel as if one has gone back in time- much of the interior furnishings are period. You need not feel as if you are confined to your own room- the parlors and dining room are beautiful and comfortable. I joined my husband for a trip to Opelika for his pickleball tournament here. He had heard many good comments about this bed and breakfast, so we decided to give it a try. On our approach, we were struck by the grand appearance from the street. Parking was in the rear of the building. The lot was loaded with pebbles and a well manicured garden. It was fun to see the original coach house for horses and buggies there. Inside the lobby, I could appreciate all the hard work performed to restore the former glory on this home built in 1913. There was a grand piano set on glistening oak floors, antique settees with board games, grand solid brass chandeliers and not a speck of dust to be seen anywhere. The place absolutely sparkled! Leif, our host was most congenial, giving us all the information we needed for a comfortable stay. I loved the spacious feel of our room with the twelve foot ceilings. The charming antique-loaded decor of this historic home reminded me of my Charleston upbringing, making me very happy. The bed was sumptuous, causing me to drop like a rock for the night. We had a shared balcony with wicker chairs for reading. At the rear upstairs lobby, there were complimentary snacks, sodas, and a coffee station for all guests. Breakfast seating is reserved by the half-hour from 8:00-10:00. Menu choices are made the night before, so that your meal is made especially for you. The coffee was rich and hearty enough to wake up the most bleary eyed boarder. Pay this lovely establishment a visit. You will enjoy it! read more

As gorgeous as the exterior of Heritage House is, the interior is inviting, enchanting, and full of hospitality. I was greeted with French cafe lounge music a form for my breakfast, and a charming hostess. The keeper of this jewel was friendly with providing me an overview of historic Downtown Opelika. she led me up the grand staircase to my room. After an overview of how to use the antique French balcony doors and where the complimentary snacks were, I was encouraged to explore the home. I was very fortunate that I was the only boarder so I was free to explore all of the rooms. Each room had an allure and charm all of its own. After my exploring and my event, the king sized bed was like sleeping on a cozy marshmallow. My breakfast was amazing. Not only was the food superb, the ambiance was fitting for a queen- greek yogurt with berries, 2 over-easy eggs, hash browns, crispy bacon, and a fluffy biscuit with sweet fruit jam. This breakfast was a perfect start to my morning where I could enjoy some more time to lounge in my comedy bed due to a late check out. If you are needing to sweep someone off their feet (or sweep yourself off your own feet), I highly recommend Heritage House. Impeccable service and a home with a personality all its own. read more

On our last vacation we routed our trip from Amelia Island to Muscle Shoals with a stop in Opelika expressly to stay at the Heritage House BnB. The house is beautiful and the large columns make it very grand. The owners are very nice folks and accommodating to make your stay pleasant. We again stayed in the downstairs room which has a private entrance and is pet friendly. Both times we stayed here we walked to the Irish Bred Pub for dinner and drinks. Bottom line up front for those who don't read long reviews... THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! The couple who runs the house are amazing. Their attention to detail made our experience something to remember. We chose to get the picnic basket and let me tell you, it was perfect! The drinks (both the bourbon and vodka) were delicious as were the sandwiches and fresh baked cookies. This was our first Bed and Breakfast and while we had our worries of what it might be like, every concern was washed away. It is the perfect balance of an intimate experience blended with all the privacy you would want. The rooms are beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and all the travel necessities, available for free if you happened to have forgot to bring it with you. You are within a 2 minute walk to the downtown area with plenty of food and drink choices (recommend the watermelon flip at zazu) We will absolutely be coming back and will recommend this to anyone looking for a small getaway.
