Working with her wasn't always easy because healing rarely is but it was absolutely worth it. I'm so grateful for the life and freedom I've found through our work together. Thank you Cory for seeing my potential even when I couldn't see it myself. If you're ready to face your past and level up your life I couldn't recommend her more.

This led to our credit card being charged, instead of insurance we were planning on putting on file at her appointment. Even though services were not rendered, we understand they have a cancellation policy, but we at least wanted to resolve the situation and hoped for flexibility to bill our insurance. Instead of being reasonable, responsive, and assisting us, the receptionist was difficult to get ahold of and rude on more than one occasion. When she finally got back to us she told my wife she could have just had a telehealth appointment, except the appointment was already over, so it would of been impossible to attend. Insurance has yet to be billed as of this review. We feel it is very unprofessional way to go about this, while we are already going through a difficult situation. This has left a bad taste in our mouth regarding The Montfort Group, which is unfortunate because we really liked the therapist.

Loved Dr. A and appreciated Darius's quick response and communication but would never recommend…read morethis location. The check in was lengthy and the information they give you as parents is not accurate and does not match what the front office allows. A few examples- they told us we could bring sweatpants and sweatshirts for patients and crayons. What they don't tell you is they will cut the drawstrings out of the pants and if the neck is too wide it is not allowed. They don't allow any stretchy clothing not just yoga pants. They will let you Donate crayons for patients to color but you won't get them back and patients only get 1 crayon at a time. They combine acute care patients that are violent with non acute patients which shortened our care for our child due to risk factors of these acute patients. Food is not edible and they only provide rice krispy treats, chewy granola bars, Oreos, string cheese, baked chips, bananas, apples and oranges but no healthy protein rich snacks. That doesn't seem like healthy options for patients. They kept my child's medicated shampoo and did not return it at checkout. We had hoped the other reviews would be false but unfortunately it was not a good experience EXCEPT Dr. A prescribed one thing that helped and we appreciate him! Understaffed over Memorial Day weekend and child's release time was delayed by 6 hours. Drum circle lady did not bring drums and sat patients in a circle to do chair dances. Group therapy was not therapy but patients sitting there. Janitor would empty trash cans but never swept floors so hair and dust balls were never cleaned up after a 4 day stay. The front entrance of the facility got completely flooded outside and there is not good drainage for heavy rain. Ranesha was funny at check in. Staff scare patients by standing over them at night to make sure they are breathing. My child woke up terrified by a staff person looming over her face in the middle of the night. There had to be a better way to monitor this. If that isn't triggering I don't know what is!?!?!?!! Still waiting for admin to call us about the medicated shampoo and returning it to us........$35..... they don't keep up with patient's items well.

It's been a good decision for us. Clean. Helpful staff. Counselors are very understanding.read more

My husband and I had been seeing James for almost one month. Initially things were going really…read morewell, and then during the last session we had hit a couple road bumps that I wanted to address. I had started to feel comfortable with James and let my guard down at this point. He did as well. I felt his office was a safe space for me to be my unfiltered self. James had casually said the "F" word during our sessions several times at this point, (as well as his IG posts have memes where he jokingly curses as well). For this reason, and because I felt comfortable at the time not having to sensor myself, I used the "F" word as an adjective during our last session in a pronounced tone to emphasize a point I was making. James proceeded to cut me off mid sentence and tell me that we aren't a good fit anymore because I was "cussing at him" and because I didn't trust him anymore. He didn't allow me to respectfully finish my train of thought / sentence. This is completely obsurd because I absolutely was not cursing at him. Nor would I ever... It reminded me exactly of what hit a chord between us at our last session where he told me to essentially stop talking mid sentence, and let my husband continue on his own. I was shocked after this abrupt and rude interruption, and said with a stunned look on my face "If my trust is slightly broken, it can still be repaired." He responded with "...Well can it though?" At this point, I was in shock because everything he was doing and saying and doing was so contradictory. Wasn't a therapist's job to prove that trust can be repaired?? And isn't the point of a therapist office to ensure clients feel they can be themselves, and not have to censor who we are? I was stunned. At the VERY LEAST, if he truly thought we weren't a good fit anymore, he could've respectfully waited for me to finish my sentence / thought and let me know then. Instead of interrupting me right there on the spot and essentially "breaking up with me". Ultimately, James has a very calm and gentle demeanor, but I discovered that his office is definitely not a safe space for his clients to express themselves fully as their true selves. (At least it wasn't for me). He preaches that there are reactive people, and dismissive people. Yet in that moment he was the one being 100% reactive, and unprofessional. He ended up backpedaling and tried to undo what he had implied/said, but it was too late at that point. That trust was definitely broken. I left the office in tears and never wish to see him again. As a professional therapist, you're expected to be just that. You're the therapist, the professional. It's not my job to be guarded and cautious in his office. It's my job to be open and 100% myself. His job to maintain professionalism and show guidance. This was our first time trying couples counseling, and unfortunately I'll never be able to look at it the same way again. This experience will haunt me for the rest of my life. And I don't know if I'll ever feel I can be 100% myself in a therapist office again. I did however have a positive experience with Cecelia during our individual therapy, who showed grace and respect 100% of the time. She allowed me to feel welcome, comfortable, and heard in her space during every visit.

So thankful for the work that this counseling center is doing in Plano and the surrounding area!read more
