Since they keep deleting my review on Google, I'm posting it over here. As many times as you (the…read moreowners) delete it, I will just keep putting it back up. The reason being that PARENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW AND DESERVE TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT YOUR FACILITY! My daughter started here over 4 years ago and I had a very pleasant experience until this last year or so. I knew the place had gone down hill after the new owners took over, but I was unaware of just how badly. The staff there is completely negligent and can't be bothered with properly taking care of the children they're suppose to be supervising. The staff keeps quitting and they seem to keep hiring younger and younger employees that talk rudely to the children. I've heard and seen the staff yell at kids and tell them to shut up. I've walked in on teachers allowing the kids to use YouTube and watch inappropriate videos such as The Muffin Song, for example. This last month or so my daughter kept telling me about so many things that were going on there and how the teachers don't care. Some were happening to her and some to other children. Children would physically and verbally bully other kids and staff would not intervene. This happened to my daughter and she had to physically defend herself more than once. I would address my concerns with Mrs. Beverly, the director, and I didn't feel heard or satisfied that my complaint would be thoroughly looked into. The last straw for me was another child making sexual comments towards my daughter and another young girl. Then a few days later I was alerted that breakfast was not being provided to my child before being taken to school and that the daycare has forgotten to pick her up from school more than once, which they did not inform me of. When I addressed this with the office I knew nothing would come of my complaint and I made the decision then to begin looking for another daycare and remove my daughter from a place I no longer felt was safe. While I was in the process of finding another daycare I went onto the Texas Health and Human Services website and looked into Oak Leaf. I was shocked to find out that since the new owners have taken over they've had 69 violations since 10/25/2017 and as recent as a few months ago! Everything from hiring employees without completing background checks, not providing water to children, one staff member actually hit a child, unsupervised children outside, staff not aware of how many kids they have in their classrooms, releasing a child to an adult without verifying their ID to see if they were approved to do so which the person was not authorized to do, a child outside with no clothing and unsupervised, leaving cleaning chemicals in places easily accessible to the kids, staff allowing kids to physically fight, and so many more! It's all there on the Texas Health and Human Services website. So, if you don't take my word for it, look it up for yourself and see it with your own eyes. This is place is unsuitable to care for children. DO NOT trust them with your precious babies. When the owner found out I was transferring my daughter she actually called me to ask why. I explained to her everything I was concerned about and brought up everything I'm writing in this review. She tried to justify all the violations and made statements like "it's not what it looks like" and "it didn't happen the way the state inspectors wrote in their reports". To me, that is unacceptable to try to shift blame and not accept responsibility for the things that are clearly going on in their facility. The only positive thing left there is Mrs. Cheryl. She's just as great as she was when my daughter started there in 2015. http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Care/Search_Texas_Child_Care/CCLNET/Source/Provider/ppComplianceHistory.aspx?fid=1293228&tab=2

Schrade Middle School - School from the field

My son just started middle school this year. He has been having a tough time with the transition…read morefrom elementary to middle school but the teachers and staff are used to that sort of thing and have all been supportive and understanding. The middle school is actually located right across from an elementary school so if you live nearby it's not so much of a change. We've had meetings with his teachers and the vice principal about our son and his work and all have been great experiences.

I cannot express how much my son and I detest this school. Let's start at the beginning. I went to…read moreenroll my son, and they told me they couldn't, I had to go elsewhere. I drove all over the county, and everyone sent me back to Shrade. I finally went back there, and they huffed and threw some paperwork at me. I told them there was an issue, and they said don't worry about it. The day of school I find out it IS an issue, and I have to wait TWO WEEKS for my son to start school! I made some calls, and he was finally permitted to start. From then on, anytime I have had a question (when is picture day? when is the fundraiser? when can I meet my son's teachers?) I got met with "I don't know" or "that's not my job." You're the secretary! Whose job is it?! Anytime I asked a question, they pulled my son from class to try to make him answer. If my son knew, I wouldn't be asking the school! Thankfully, another school noticed my son was incredibly intelligent and recruited him. I asked Shrade to forward his file to them. They wouldn't unless I withdrew him first, so I did. The new school was appalled; it turns out that Shrade didn't do ANYTHING they were supposed to! Paperwork wasn't filed; it turns out my son qualified for free lunches. That would've been good to know! They didn't request his records from his previous school, so I had to go back to Shrade and ask them to do it. They promised... of course that means they did nothing. I called his old school every day, and every day I went back to Shrade to ask them to do it. Finally, the new school said they'd do it, even though they weren't supposed to. Just before my son left Shrade, he had done the school fundraiser, raising $300 for them. He won several prizes. When my son switched schools, Shrade refused to give him anything, stating that only Shrade students get prizes. He was a Shrade student when he earned them! My son was crushed. Once a week, I stopped by to check for his fundraising items and school pictures. Every time, I was told someone would call me when they came in. TWO MONTHS later, a woman overhears me asking and informed me her daughter got hers a month ago! The woman behind the desk grouchily went and got our things. My son was bullied at that school, and there was no challenge there, no homework, no testing. He was bored. We are MUCH happier at Harmony. Avoid Shrade!!

My 5th grade niece has been enrolled since she first started school and has always excelled. My nieces lost their mom and 1 year old brother in the North Texas storm. This has been a major life change for the girls. The principal Mrs. Hill and my niece teachers showed up to the homegoing service to express their condolences. The school had been a huge support. The girls live with my husband and I in McKinney. Garland ISD transportation has made arrangements to pick up and drop off girls to our Mckinney home until the end of the school year to assist in some sort of normalcy. The transportation guy was a retired Pastor and loved the girls and they loved him as well. Hill also gifted my husband and I with books to help with grieving and raising. One of the books is called 5 love languages of Kids. I'm blown away by the support and love. We are so grateful.

They were open-minded to get to know their students. Soon after my 5-year-old daughter was the only one in her class who knew how to read. So I registered my 5-year-old son here this year and so far it's been a disaster. Because he has speech delay and ADHD and therefore, he's behind in development compared to other kids of the same age. However, his academic test score in Pre-K was high enough that he was not qualified for special-ed. I understand that a slow kid can be too much for a regular school, mainstream teacher who has 9 other kids in the classroom to handle but she didn't need to be totally cruel and hateful. There's constructive critique and advice with compassion that in the best interest of all 3 parties, she would recommend my child to be in a special-ed classroom setting like I, as a general dentist would recommend a child patient with severe dental anxiety to see a pediatrist. But here was an adult's (a teacher's, nevertheless) pure bashing a 5-year-old child non-stop for 30 minutes straight to his parents on the first parent-teacher conference meeting after she had already demanded him to be transferred out of her class without a heads up to us as parents. She went on and on about petty things like he (accidentally) spilled his cereal to him not understanding "scoot over." I'd be embarrassed doing so about any child because it speaks volume about my character rather than the kid's. She confidently and loudly stated: "He is not able to learn." Tell that to a kid's parents! That could break anyone's heart and induce endless fear and worry about their child's future. Good thing is that my son's neurologist ,who's Rx'ing ADHD medicine for him had already told me: "You can't diagnose a kid being intellectual disable or not until the age of 8 at the earliest." All and all, the school is not bad but this teacher's abundance of hatred and anger in her heart has diminished some positive aspects about this school. I was very sad to see this kind of character in a school teacher. I hope to see more kindness and patience from the special-ed teachers or I'll transfer my son to a private school albeit it's a long commute and it will deprive him from growing up in real life environment with kids of different social and financial backgrounds.
