The staff and teachers have a genuine love for children, they have very intentional learning goals and make it clear that spiritual growth is a top priority as they incorporate Christ and God into the curriculum each day. Our daughters teacher was phenomenal at meeting her academic needs and with regular communication we worked very closely to make sure the learning continued at home. My child also has actual homework to complete over the weekend to reinforce what was taught during the week and so that's an exciting thing for her and I! Upon entering, The school is clean well maintained and doesn't smell like a dumpster full of dirty diapers in July. This is extremely important to me as the last place my daughter was at wasn't very good at keeping a clean environment. The teacher to child ratio is fair and balanced and teachers aren't being overwhelmed and overrun by the children. Overall, this is a very engaging environment for children to develop their young minds and I couldn't be more pleased with this school. The tour and discovery day were amazing -- kind staff, great atmosphere, and a beautiful curriculum. Our child felt welcome and had a great time, so we enrolled her and even paid for camera access. Once the real days started, everything changed. From day one, no one greeted her. The teacher looked unhappy, took her without saying a word, and told me to leave. My child cried all day and no one comforted her. The response was: "Teachers have many kids and can't give attention to everyone." The following days were the same. No real curriculum, kids wandering around, teachers on their phones, my child crying with no support. "Quiet time" was supposed to be 12-2, but kids were forced to lie in the dark from 11:30am to 2:30pm. When I questioned it, they said the teacher was "in the restroom" - for 3 hours?! My child started having meltdowns and didn't want to go at all. On the cameras I saw kids crying on the floor, being ignored, fighting with no adult help, and teachers being rude or disengaged. The manager admitted she knows the staff is bad and can't find better ones. Teachers said they don't have time for a curriculum, and the manager said "it's Montessori, there is no real curriculum" -- even though one was proudly shown during the tour. One day we picked her up and they were all watching TV. Another time babies were left crying with no one responding -- I ended up calming one baby because I couldn't ignore the crying. One evening at home, my child started hitting her own hand. When I asked why, she said: "The lady does it." We don't have a babysitter and it's only me and my husband, so I have no idea who she was referring to. We took our child out after a couple of weeks. Unless your family has the resources to donate large sums of money, the "right" race, or gain favor through employment at the school, you are just a number--tolerated, but never truly included. The school's values are less about Christ and more about class and elitism. A tight-knit inner circle of donors, board members, and influential families call the shots. Everyone else is kept in their place. Diversity at Dallas Christian is performative at best. Minority students are rarely visible outside of athletic teams, and there is a pattern of recruitment that raises serious ethical questions. These students are valued for what they can do on the field or court--not who they are. And yes, there have been documented and disturbing instances where students of color have been called racial slurs, including the N-word, by both peers and staff. Consequences for these actions have been minimal, and accountability is nonexistent. The emotional toll is real. Kids who start off confident and engaged quickly become withdrawn, questioning their worth in an environment that measures value by status. The self-esteem damage lingers long after. Many of the glowing reviews online are not from impartial voices--they are parents on the board, major donors, or paid reviewers. Don't be misled by the marketing or manufactured praise. The reality inside is far different. Meanwhile, families who experience harm are pushed out quietly, without support, and without acknowledgment. Even staff members who happen to be minorities are part of the same exclusionary system--and they know it. There is no safe space here, only a well-oiled machine that rewards compliance and marginalizes difference. If your family doesn't "fit" their mold--racially, politically, or socially--you will be pushed out, one way or another. The environment is not just biased, it is hostile. And they'll use your tuition to do it. With the rise of school vouchers, this kind of systemic discrimination is only going to get easier to hide. If you are a minority family, a values-driven family, or seeking real faith-based education--run. Don't be fooled by the brochures. The truth is much uglier.
