Came to celebrate a friends 40th but was not a good experience because they do not honor appointments. 3 of us had an appointment for mani and pedis at 9 and another party with a bride and bridesmaid also had appointments same time. This alone is 10 services with 4 people working in addition there were 3-5 customers at the same time coming in/being worked on. One lady was getting manicure and pedicure and got out of chair before gel dry around 10 to make room and we felt bad and didn't want her to have to. We waited a very long time and had to checkout of hotel at 12 and the wedding set had an appt at 11 but only one person was started by 10. When anyone explained they couldn't wait they would tell you "sit. 5 more min". Once started with services was very rushed and not quality. When we were getting pedicures we were talking about fingers and they said "what you want that too? ". Yes our appointment was for both. The men were pleasant but heavier woman was absolutely miserable the whole time. She cut me during manicure and when I asked her to put alcohol on the bleeding spot was upset with me. When checking out she didn't want to let me put own tip in the led screen (I did 10 percent bc of bad experience) but when I asked she spun it to me rudly and then rolled her eyes and sighed at me just like she had done the whole morning. A lady called for appointment later in week and was told 9 but it was not noted down at all and we overheard this a few times. I want to add to be fair we were running 5-7 minutes late and expected a reasonable wait due to that but it was irrelevant as there is no consideration to appointments at all. Would not return due to not enough staffing/incorrect scheduling, quality, general pleasantry of the staff and cleanliness. read more

I chose to get a mani/pedi here based on the glowing reviews and I am very disappointed in the quality and overall experience I had here. First of all, I had a 5:30 manicure appointment and had to wait 20 minutes when they then told me they would start my pedicure. The pedicure was fine, nothing to write home about, but as it was finishing it up Belle came over and very quickly filed my nails and removed the gel I had one my nails already. I could understand killing two birds with one stone and starting to remove the gel to save some time, but then to actually start filing my nails in such an awkward position while I'm still in my pedicure chair was just so bizarre. When I'm finally allowed to sit at the normal manicure desk I assumed Belle would continue to care for my nails... nope. If she didn't get to it while I was in the pedicure chair then I was out of luck. The whole process was so incredibly rushed that looking at my nails I still see where there are cuticles. I don't understand why it was so rushed. There were a few walk in clients who she accepted while I was there and many appointments so I think she is just biting off more than she can chew but at some point she needed to say no and focus on quality over quantity. When all was said and done I had only been in there for just about an hour for a dip manicure and gel pedicure which is unheard of for me but definitely came at the price of sloppy work. *UPDATE* The owner contacted me and said she will only give me a refund if I take down my review. read more

She knew exactly who I was and they know what they did never set up an appointment didn't know about this. I'm not even from here My nails was done in Tulsa Oklahoma. And now they lying because they stole money and committed credit card fraud. And I will be pressing charges and I also was disputing the transaction. So you stole six dollars from me but now you're losing three times that. I have it on recording everything! This place is crazy! She totally messed my nails up and ask me how I'm going to tip her out loud so everyone could hear. I had 1 broken nail on each hand! No yellow, no cracks no nothing. I told her I had just got off work at 6 AM and I was very tired. I had not meant to sleep. I'm not even from here. I'm here working. I never set an appointment. Never knew about this nail shop. It was the closest one. We have to discuss what I wanted. I told her gel. The entire time I asked for something she just ignores what I asked for that's why I put the text message in there while I'm telling them this this is in my friend said you asked for four times kendra you need to ask for a manager. That's when I say FaceTime me. As you look underneath, my nails is no yellow! I will also post a picture today before of my nails then I broke, but 2. One on each hand! She drilling on my real nails and I said be careful and she broke my real nail and started laughing. There way shorter then what I ask for. Humps everywhere so much acrylic underneath the nail bed. I came in with long, beautiful nails. Some were broken. But by the time she finished, I had nothing left! Nails Different shapes and sizes, and she ask for a tip! Even my Lyft driver said I wouldn't even pay for that. That's how bad the nails look. This is just one of the issues of my nails. I kept correcting her throughout and she stood was just laughing and trust me trust me I said make them thicker. Trust me trust me she wouldn't make it thicker some thick something. Everything I ask for her to fix she found it funny and would not fix. Then turned around very loudly and said how you wanna tip?! I said tip required how you want to come to the front! So I left my AirPods in there in the other clients and also nail people decided to have a conversation about me. It wasn't about the tip. I'm from another state here working so the money was not the issue. It was the issue that every time I said something was wrong. She would not fix it and she found it funny. She literally found it funny that she was drilling on my nails and broke it after I kindly said please be careful. I asked for a totally different length, but she kept drilling and violent and I have literally no nails left. I will not tip you. Nowhere ever come back again. This is literally right after I left the nail shop. I have the receipt in the Lyft driver, so they cannot say that they did not do my nails here. just checked my car since I refuse to tip her she told me $60. I checked my credit card and it's $66 on there so you took six dollars from me. Call back to the nail shop. The lady said what you say, you tip her 2 to 3 dollars I told you no! It was like they was trying to force me to tip her! She said she worked two hours on my nails. She did not work two hours on my nails. They open up at 9:30. This is the time I got to there. Colors were not what the samples said they would be and not even remotely close to what you thought you were getting Gel polish and still had bubbles and scratches Acrylic was not applied correctly leaving space between cuticles and nails so it looked grown out more on some nails than others. I called in advance to see if they could take me and my family (3 adults 3 kids) they said they could and we made the appointment. We ended up spending $300 ($250.00) but the disappointing thing was they rushed all of the services. We paid for the stone massage pedicures with the "deep/tough callous removal" and when I mentioned a couple spots while still in the chair to my technician she said would fix it but then rushed me to the chair to do my manicure. And the whole time she kept trying to get me to change the style I wanted (which once she did it seemed fairly simple, by just rubbing a fine shimmer powder on the nails in between the final gel coat). They rushed my neice's pedicure and didn't give the toe separators or anything and the polish got ruined. And they didn't ask my nephew how he wanted the different colors and when I saw them in the car ride home the color had already come off and he said it happened when they told him to wash his hands. They said they were gonna put clear polish on my other nephew for his pedicure (even though he was too young to have his cuticles cut, which I told them was fine). The vibe wasn't that friendly, except the one woman who did the pedicure for my brother who seemed to get the best service (I commented on how cute her tattoos were). Overall very disappointed in there services. I didn't have a chance to look at what the gel manicure covered on their price sheet (which they seemed put off or something when I asked for it when we first arrived) but in every other salon I have been to they usually soak your fingers for a little bit do a little massage scrub, lotion etc. But here for $45 for the gel manicure, the woman seemed put out and kept asking if I wanted to change my manicure to a different color/style and I think only at the end she quickly rubbed some lotion on, she also neglected to clean up the edges of my fingers where extra polish got onto my skin during the manicure. I wish we hadn't left the 20% $50 tip because the service certainly didn't warrant it. I am especially disappointed because online they had a picture of a bunch of kids showing off their manicures but my niece and nephew didn't have a good experience and neither did me or my mom. Too rushed, not accommodating (even though we made the appointment ahead of time and was clear about there being kids) and I definitely don't think we got what we paid for. Next time we'll take our business elsewhere or have a stay-at-home spa day. read more

I'm not going to lie. I was nervous about getting my nails done in New Hampshire--home of my heart. No worries! We had an excellent experience at Herbal Nails. My big toenail has a crack that keeps re=appearing (don't ask, ew) so I'm jumpy. (And my home salon is great--I consider them more or less medical professionals at this point!). So I was a bit nervous. They were great. 2 excellent pedicures and an excellent manicure for the three of us. Rose was wonderful dealing with my toenail (better than ever) and my jumpy self. I've been there a couple of times so far. I've tried many other salons in Portsmouth and have not been impressed. Herbal nails, everybody is so nice and friendly. I find a lot of times I go to the salons and I don't have that experience. And they do a great job. They also have dazzle dry, which is an amazing product. It lasts about 10 days without chipping and dazzle dry doesn't have any of the chemicals that a lot of other nail polishes have that are banned in other countries. So it's a really healthy alternative. I would highly recommend them. read more

I needed to have my nails done for a work event I called yesterday afternoon to set an appointment. I went in after work and had a wonderful experience. I will lead with I am extremely picky about my nails to the point I had quit having them done because everywhere I had tried since moving to NH I didn't like. The nail techs were very nice and inviting when I walked in. I had a basic pedicure with gel polish that was great! I got a full set with bubble bath gel and chrome. The tech kept verifying with me that I liked the shape and was happy as she went through the entire process. She was very gentle with my fingers they were not sore when leaving. I had made an appoint and she was ready for me at that time. I had a very poor experience with my last nail place that I had gone to for over 6 mths. Here from out of town and after not being able to find anyone to do gel x nails in the area, decided to just go with the hard gel here, which is not my favorite, BUT Cindy did my nails and she did an AMAZING job. I am very picky about the thickness of my nails (I like them thin) and she definitely did exactly what I asked. I asked for square narrow and the shape is perfect. Also, all the nails are flat with no bumps or waviness if you look at them from the side. I asked for a french design with multiple colors and it's adorable. I called a day ahead and I made a reservation for 3 of us total just to get some gel manicures done. We got there a few minutes early and they didn't even get to us until about 20-25 minutes after our appointment time. They had 2 people going back and forth between the 3 of us and overall it just felt extremely rushed and with one of my friends, he picked out what color he wanted and it's not the color they put on his nails. He ended up having to pick a new design because they put too dark of a color on his nails so it's not what he wanted. Then with my other friend, 4 of her nails have completely come off after only 3-4 days and they used a dremel on her nails and now she says her nails feel super fragile. My nails are still all on but you can just tell that they were really rushed with the design. All I wanted were some simple swirls and you can see random brush strokes. I feel they rushed my friend and I, They actually called to see if we could come in earlier ( which I didn't mind at all) They cut my toe nail way too short. Booked an appointment here during COVID-19. I called on Tuesday morning and they were able to fit me in that day at 11am. Everything was VERY clean and I could see right away they were following all protocols to ensure the safety and health of their customers. They had masks, hand sanitizer, plastic blockades between customer and technician, special certifications and sanitizing spray and wipes. I felt very safe. The manicure was nice and well done - they took their time and it came out as expected. The pedicure was lovely - they used hot towels, massage and hot stones. Was it the best manicure and pedicure I've ever had? no, but they did a good job and the final product looked great. Plenty of room for parking, reasonably priced and you can tip in cash or Venmo. This business is very poorly run. I called 2 weeks in advance for 2 appointments for my daughter and her friend. I was specific in what I wanted. Two appointments for GEL extensions for my daughter and her friend, and hopefully they could sit side-by-side. When we got there about five minutes early it's like they didn't even have a reservation. Nobody checked the computer and the place was busy so we waited an extra 15-20 minutes. The woman "Rose" asked if they wanted mani/pedis, I told her they were here for gel extensions (4 times I told them) before they took the girls as I sat and waited for what turned out to be 2+ hours, they did one girl at a time with the same technician, and when I went to pay cost was nearly double cost of what I was expecting to pay. When I asked why so much, they told me they couldn't do gel extensions so they did 2 full sets of acrylics, which is not what I wanted for my daughter! I'm very very disappointed and pissed that my 15 year old has long, acrylic, nails, and nobody bothered to consult with me when I was just sitting on the other side of the divider. As I waited for the 2+ hours people came in with 2 o'clock appointments 3 o'clock appointments and nobody ever checked the computer upfront because apparently reservations are really not a thing there, they don't honor them. To be honest I was kind of irritated when I wasn't seen at my appointment time. It was about 40 minutes later when I finally sat in the chair. I did overhear one of the ladies saying that they were shorthanded because somebody had called in sick. I cannot express how amazing my pedicure was. Lucy was so meticulous with making sure my cuticles were perfectly cut and pushed back. She took the time to give me the best pedicure I have ever had in my life. I've been getting acrylics done a little over 5 years now, this place is great. Alec did my nails and was constantly asking if the shape, length and color was ok. She genuinely wanted me to be happy with my nails and took the time to make sure they looked nice. I appreciate the hard work but also the commitment to the quality she provided. After going to multiple places where the consistency wasn't there, this gave me hope. The people here want to do their job right but also want you to be satisfied. The lady was nice, but the nails felt rushed. The thickness was significantly thicker than a typical full set, yet still lacked consistency. On top of that, my fingers were cut five different times. The french tips looked nice, but the design I asked for did not match on both sides. I wish the ends had been painted as well because it looks odd to have them be clear. Update: After nine days of having the nails, four fell off with zero resistance. When contacting the salon about the poor work and asking for a refund, this was their reply: "That's fine. We appreciate the honest feedback, at our salon, the nails technicians always ask customers if they are okay with nails before we cash them out. If you weren't happy with your nails, you should have told us when you were at the salon, at least we could have fixed it right for you at that moment. We did check on our camera system, a tech who worked on your nails spent more than an hour working on your nails. We don't do refunds, but there are options, you can come back we fix it for you or you can have 50% off what you paid as a store credit. We are a small business, if we have 50 customers come back and ask for refunds then we couldn't even stand for business any longer. Hope you understand how business works. Like you go to the restaurants, eat then say the foods aren't good then ask for the refund. It doesn't work that way." With an appointment at 12:30, we were not helped until around 1:00. The receptionist, who was doing my nails, got up multiple times while the acrylic was hardening on my nails, unshaped. This caused the acrylic to not be bonded to my nails. When paying $60 for a full set, they should not fall off in nine days. Using their analogy, if you go to a restaurant and half the food is not consumable, the customer would be given a refund. Specialists are seemingly kind to regulars, but indifferent to building clientele. Not worth the price point for service level.
