a sign for henry's candy company

I was taking my boyfriend on a grand tour of Hamilton's new businesses, so of course we stopped at the candy store. I haven't been in a candy store in awhile. But I don't think I've ever seen gummy bears look so glamorous in my life. There is this fantastic rainbow of gummy bear photos across one wall. Under them are shelves of candy. Necco Wafers! The lights are Sputnik design and so bright, the candy glistens in its sugary, waxy coating. It's like a dream. There are rows of cases full of gummies (obviously the specialty) and trail mixes, suckers, taffies, chocolates, Swedish fish... I was excited to see there were a few sugar free options. I have parents who are diabetic, so this is a great bonus. I purchased two kinds. I did ask about any sort of vegan candy, as eating with food allergies is sort of my gig. They said no one had asked about that. I suggested a vegan/gluten free option could overlap and serve two communities at the same time. We all love candy, right? My boyfriend was agog over his strawberry banana gummy bears which the nice lady behind the counter assured him was the best banana she had. My taffy was ok. I learned purple taffy is terrible. My parents were into those chocolate vanilla caramels! They would highly recommend them to folks watching their sugar. Or even not. But the sugar free gummies were rubbery and lack luster. Over all, I'd say my purchases were a win. Trying new candy, even when it's not great is fun. The customer service here was fantastic. The girls running the place said they weren't the owners, but they were charming and wonderful. Great for a chat. I did stop in today, hoping to pick up some sugar free goodies for my parents and the store's shipment wasn't in! So if you're looking for sugar free, be on the ball. Maybe call first, too.

I first spotted this little store at the pumpkin festival. It's cozied in between two big businessesin what used to be a jewelry store( I think) so you can almost miss it. But they made a beautiful vintage-looking sign to call you in. They have all the gummi bears you could ever want inside. Flavors I didn't know existed. And you can create your own bag of gummi bears. Only like the pineapple flavored? Get a whole bag of just pineapple. That is the main event, a huge counter full of a plethora of gummi candy (gummi soldiers, gummi gators, you name it). They also have a wall of chocolates, and quirky candies all around. And in the two times I've been there, more candies keep appearing.

My favorite: Red Licorice Scotty Dogs!

I've been longing for an old-school candy store. My dreams came true when Henry's Candy opened! I get happy the moment I walk in! It's strange, but you'll feel both nostalgia and modern freshness the moment you walk in. Their candy choices are tremendously vast, and their prices are remarkably low! I love it because I can get small bags of lots of different items. I'm mostly excited that they carry one of my all time favorite candies that I haven't been able to find in any other store: Red Licorice Scotty Dogs! You can tell the owners are passionate about candy, and their inspirational story is all the more reason to support this creative business!

Their gummy bears are absolutely fantastic. I stopped in there today with a couple of friends and I got a bag that had over a pound of gummy bears for just over four dollars. They have a ton of different flavors, and they will let you try them before you buy. You can get a mixed flavor bag if you don't want to commit to just one. The only problem with this place is I live too far away to go there often.

it would be fantastic if you had cute little Henry's Candy bags, so that when I gift someone some gummy bears, they can receive them in a nice little colorful bag.

We visited their location in Oakley, and we were blown away by the service quality, the selection of chocolate delights available for us to choose from, and the gorgeous, quaint little space in which they sell their wonders. * We opted for an array of treats including some of their signature bark, truffle cakes, and so much more. The beauty of Ruby's is that it doesn't just deliver quality, but also, their chocolates are so very affordable. Unlike some store purchased chocolates at $20 a box, we enjoyed a vast amount for a mere $8! Thinking ahead to Valentine's Day...make sure Ruby's is at the top of you list, and support this superbly run local business! * www.rubyschocolates.com * 3923 Isabella Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45209 *

I first tried Ruby's Chocolates at Martha Stewart's Food & Wine Festival in October in Cincinnati. They were featuring their Red Velvet and Turtle Cake Truffle. They were amazing, so I figured I had to actually go to their location and try more. When I looked up their location, I was surprised to find they are 8 min away from my house. I was super excited. I went by and tried them! I was greeted by Ali, the son of the owner. I also believe he is the Selling/Marketing Director. He gave AAMAZING customer service and was very personable. I ordered the bite size truffle box (12 truffle minis in a box). They had premade ones but I wanted my own flavors. They did this with no question asked or frustration. I had to wait 30-40 min for my custom box to be made but I talked to Ali for the most part. The owner, also came out and spoke as well. I had my youngest daughter with me (3 mon) so they both were admiring her. This business is a mom and two son trio. The other son came out as well at the end! All are very sweet! It was Halloween and the owner's birthday so they threw in 3 chocolate covered Oreos for my oldest daughter (3 year-old). How freaking sweet was that?! The chocolate covered cake truffles I got were Red Velvet, Key Lime, Turtle, Maple Bacon, Cookies and Cream and Chocolate. All of them were good and of course lent a different flavor. I'm not a big Key Lime fan but believe it or not the Key Lime flavor was very good! All of the truffles had a tender moist center with a chocolate outer shell. My favorite was probably Key Lime. I'm normally a huge Red Velvet fan but something about the way they make the Key Lime, stood out to me more. The Cookies & Cream was also very good. The Maple Bacon was good and different. Also, the truffles are pretty rich (especially the chocolate ones) so a 12 mini box will last you awhile. We still have over half a box in the fridge. They store well in the fridge. We take small bites out of them just for a sweet fix and put them back. Overall, Ruby's Chocolates has amazing customer service and good chocolate treats. This place is good for gifts for friends or family depending on the occasion. Definitely give them a try.

They sell everything from retro candies (candy cigarettes [!], candy necklaces, pop rocks;) chocolate-covered nuts and gourmet chocolates (truffles, cordials, creams;) pick and mix (taffy, hard candy;) nuts of all sorts; and every other kind of candy you can think of (gummies, licorice, seasonal.) They also have gift baskets, gift bags for the pick and mix, and various individually priced candies (candy bars, lollipops, gum.) The prices range from 39 cents for a lollipop, by the quarter pound ($6.29 per pound) for pick and mix and by the quarter pound for nuts and candy housed in sealed bins and a chocolate case. I got eight dark chocolate cherry cordials for $5. A good price for high-end chocolate, and so smooth and delicious, I think they're going to become a habit. One side note, the shopkeeper had her mid-size dog in the store. She had a sign up saying he was gentle, but this was a dog running around, and that jumped on me several times. (I use a cane right now.) I didn't think it was customer-friendly for all.

I really wanted to love this place because of all the good things I heard about it. I drove over…read moretwo hours to try it out. I will say that I really loved the huge variety of everything in this store. We arrived on a busy Saturday at around noon (won't be doing that again) but easily found a good parking spot in the giraffe lot. I got a cart for my child and it had a baby steering wheel for her to play with to entertain her. You walk in and are instantly overwhelmed by all of the options- in a good and bad way. I don't think the store is messy by any means, it's an organized chaos. We followed the line of people throughout the different sections and strayed away a few times to look at some items. I liked the pickle barrels with 3/$3 whole pickles with different flavors to choose from. There's a HUGE alcohol section so if that is your fancy then you are sure to find what you are looking for there. The customer service was not very good. Workers had AirPods in and when you went to ask a question they acted like you were a huge bother. I will say that the bartenders at the random bars across the store were so nice. Maybe because a difference in roles? Not sure. What REALLY left a huge distaste in my mouth was the cashier and his helper that was bagging groceries. On my receipt it says Walter. I got up to him and said hello and he stared straight at me. After he was done scanning he didn't say anything at all he was just waiting for my card. My mom was right behind me with her items and got the same treatment. She even inquired about what rang up as $32 because it looked like a candy that was scanned came up as that much and he just stared at her as well. No troubleshooting, no help at all whatsoever. It was honestly like talking to a wall. His bagger also had the same attitude but both had no issue speaking to the cashier in the next lane when they had a question amongst themselves. You could just clearly tell they'd rather be literally anywhere else than working on a Saturday. It was honestly ridiculous to be ignored so blatantly like that. Overall if you need any type of grocery under the sun I would say come here. Don't come on the weekend though. I'd maybe come on a weekday during non peak hours and for sure won't be asking for help from any employee.
