The time from start to repaired and on the road was impressive. They communicated the details thoroughly through the repair process as well. I was already working with Scott at Michigan Sandblasting and planned to have my Jeep's underbody sandblasted there. Rashid told me they could apply POR-15 afterward, so based on that I paid to have the Jeep towed down there. After it arrived, everything changed. Rashid started questioning the project and for over a week I was given the runaround. Multiple times Rashid told me he would "talk to Scott figure out a solution and call me back," but the call back never happened. Every time I followed up I got the same vague response and nothing actually moved forward. Rashid knew all of the details prior to me towing it down there. If this wasn't a job they wanted to take on, that should have been communicated from the beginning instead of telling me to bring the vehicle down and spend money towing it there. It's extremely frustrating to be told something can be done, only to have the shop avoid giving a straight answer after the vehicle is already there. Very disappointing and unprofessional way to handle a customer. I wasted time and money because they couldn't simply be upfront about whether they were willing to do the work.

Fine mechanics took the chance to stick it to somebody that had no idea what they had giving them a very confusing expensive option, then started trying to charge him 50 bucks a day storage after what they knew would happen not being able to pay the repair bills or the storage fees they gladly took the car resulting in the kid having a sign over the title. Henry, who must be the proprietor despite the name of the shop, is an old-school grease monkey who is plain-spoken and quick with a quip. He and his crew are thorough, polite and efficient. Here is the caveat: you are paying a premium for the service and "staying local," as the term is used. In other words, an oil change may cost a bit more at Sol's that. A Quick-Lube chain shop. That premium becomes pro rata higher as the repair becomes more expensive. I believe in supporting local business, and I am very loyal to Sol's, but the last time I went in and learned the a/c compressor needed replacement on my Lincoln, it would have been between $600-$1,000 more at Sol's than other shops nearby. (Sol's was $2,250; I found competitors charging anywhere from $1,350-$1,750.)

After their diagnosis, I was told the right control arm and struts needed to be replaced, and I was quoted around $900. Not only was the original issue still present when I drove away, but the experience got worse from there. I was told my struts would be replaced, but I was later informed shocks were done instead. I was also told the right control arm needed repair, but work was done on the left side instead. On top of that, my car key was damaged while in their possession. I was given conflicting explanations first that the key was already wobbly, then that it had to be taken apart because the battery was dead. Regardless, I ended up paying to replace my own key. When I immediately told Mike (the owner) that the original noise was still there, he asked me to bring the car back the next day. After looking underneath the vehicle again, I was suddenly told there were multiple additional problems that somehow weren't identified in the original diagnosis--and I was quoted another $1,100. At that point, I lost confidence and took my vehicle to the dealership for evaluation. I provided them with the paperwork from this shop, and based on what I was told there, the repairs I believed had been completed were not consistent with what I was charged/told had been done. I am now having the dealership properly repair my vehicle. This was an expensive, stressful, and frustrating experience involving poor communication, conflicting information, unresolved issues, and damage to my property. I would strongly encourage anyone using this shop to get everything documented clearly and verified.
