This doesn't surprise me as this is the type of communication you can expect from them. They didn't even know I moved, so, it was mailed on Nov. 4th, but, I just received the letter November 16th. I still never received answers since last year that are very important to my business, like, about obtaining a VAT ID. Last year was a nightmare for everyone and I excused a LOT of problems but, this is ridiculous. If you don't need anything done by a certain time, aren't trying to buy a house, like to get ghosted while trying to communicate and get dropped a month before your tax appointment, call them.

I have to do multi-states, which is tough enough. Then my old company wouldn't give me my w2 and div b and blah blah all these forms to do my taxes. After spending numerous days trying to deal with one of the big chains on taxes i just ran out of time and they didn't seem to give a shizz. So on the day that taxes are due, i call up Bruce Tabor's accounting group. Told me to come right in and they'll take care of me immediately. What did they do for me? hell i don't know crap about taxes but this is what i do know. I wasn't late paying, i got a pretty good sized return, and they worked around my schedule and what worked best for me. Definitely where I'd want to go to get my taxes done without having to worry if they're going to be on top of things.

Last year our return was buried in a pile for several weeks without note or processing and when I called to ask what the status was, there was no substantial excuse other than "we've been really busy". This year we DID NOT receive our normal beginning of the year tax letter in January and I began to wonder?? At the beginning of February I called and they sent the tax prep letter. One day later 2/15/17 I also received a letter notifying us we were "fired" from their services. They were too busy and their staff could no longer handle the overload of our account prep, what the devil? You should find another accountant was the best they could advise. Thanks Carpenter's, for nothing! I will not be recommending the use of your services to anyone, I would be ashamed if I did and this happened to them.

My mom's current CPA found a deduction that this business overlooked in a previous return that…read morewould have resulted in a substantial refund. Since my mom doesn't drive, I brought her paperwork to their office and showed them where the deduction would be. From day one communication from this business was exceptionally scarce. Most of my 'updates' were in the form of automatic reply emails. It had been almost 4 months since bringing them my mom's paperwork, and her amendment still had not been filed. Additionally, It had been over a month since I had received any word from this business (not even automatic email replies). In an act of desperation and frustration I repeatedly called their business one day in an attempt to find some clarity. The next day I received an email shaming me for my attempts to reach them and stating that after a "quick review" of my moms tax return they didn't "understand what is wrong with it", even though I carefully explained and showed where the omitted deduction was when I dropped off the paperwork. It was clear that this was a retaliation, and that my mom was now being punished for what they deemed as my bad behavior. Which again, was one day of trying repeatedly to reach someone by phone. When paying a business to do one's taxes, the consumer has a reasonable expectation that they will be prepared correctly, or that any errors or oversights will be corrected in a timely and professional manner. Their refusal to amend her tax return not only reflects a lapse in ethical judgment but also raises questions about their commitment to the principles of their profession. I am extremely disappointed and would certainly not recommend that anyone use this business.

Stunning levels of incompetence. Regularly failed to make filings on time, causing us to get in…read moretrouble with the Oregon government and costing us fines and fees. Sent out our 1099s using the WRONG ACCOUNT - our Independent Contractors all received 1099s with the employer listed as a veterinary service. Sent out incorrect w2s. All while charging EXORBITANT fees beyond what was agreed to. Whenever we caught them in a mistake, they would make excuses, blaming the state, or us, or "we never got that password." According to the state a significant amount of the paperwork they filed for us was incorrect and we owe a lot of money. The state also said that the company could have gained access to everything they said they "couldn't do" with one phone call to them. Fraud? Incompetence? You decide. Just stay far away if you need a bookkeeper.
