I rarely leave negative reviews, but after my experience with Hanover Lube & Brake under its new…read moremanagement, I feel obligated to warn others. On July 17, 2026, I received an estimate of approximately $2,600 to get my 2015 Ford Explorer through inspection. I specifically told Scott that I only wanted to perform the repairs that were absolutely necessary. When he said the vehicle needed mufflers, I told him I would rather replace them myself because I wanted something nicer than inexpensive aftermarket mufflers.Over the course of several conversations, my wife and I repeatedly asked Scott what type of mufflers would be installed. We didn't ask once--we asked multiple times because this was important to us. My wife even specifically asked if they would be Ford OEM mufflers. Based on those conversations, we came away with the clear understanding that Ford OEM mufflers would be installed. That understanding is the reason I authorized Hanover Lube & Brake to perform the work instead of purchasing and installing the mufflers myself. When I picked up the vehicle on July 21, I had an unpleasant interaction with the new manager, Mike. Because the shop was already closed, I was told I had to sign the invoice before I could receive my keys, so I wasn't able to thoroughly inspect the vehicle until after I left. When I stopped for gas, I immediately noticed that inexpensive aftermarket mufflers had been installed instead. One of the pipes was dented, and the mufflers already had surface rust. That was the exact situation I had tried to avoid from the beginning.I texted the shop that evening to express my concerns. The following morning, Mike told me they had installed "OEM fitment" parts. That was the first time anyone had used the phrase "OEM fitment." It was not the understanding my wife and I believed we had after our conversations with Scott regarding Ford OEM mufflers. After I had time to cool down, I tried to reach a reasonable compromise. I asked if they would provide and install a pair of exhaust tips so the aftermarket mufflers would at least have a more factory appearance. Instead, I was told that if I purchased the tips myself, they would install them. I wasn't looking for an expensive repair or anything extravagant--I was simply hoping they would make some effort to address a situation that I believe resulted from the misrepresentations made during the estimate process. What disappoints me most isn't simply that aftermarket mufflers were installed. It's that I made my decision based on what my wife and I understood after repeatedly asking what parts would be used. Had I known aftermarket mufflers were going to be installed, I would have purchased and installed the mufflers I wanted myself. Between the communication surrounding the repair, the customer service I experienced afterward, and the unwillingness to offer a meaningful resolution, I cannot recommend Hanover Lube & Brake. If you choose to do business here, get every promise about parts in writing, ask for the manufacturer and part numbers on your estimate before authorizing repairs, and inspect the work carefully before leaving the shop. The really funny part is, that after I tried so hard to work with the shop, they said I was just looking for something for free. Go figure. At least they stayed in character. In 40 years of dealing with probably close to 100 repair shops, this is absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had. BEWARE of the new management

The one time I needed work done I took it here and they did an excellent job at a reasonable price. But while I've waited for my inspection, Ive seen a lot of interactions there. From what I've heard, they've always told people what is wrong, but have always advised them of alternative for what was needed, such as a less expensive option or if it can wait a while. This to me being a mechanic myself is the proof of a honest shop.

While doing further diagnosis on the Blazer James noticed the Rear Shackles on the leaf springs were so rusted it was a safety hazard and they could break at anytime. I asked James to install a complete exhaust system, new shocks, ignition coil, rotate the tires and he gladly accepted every job. He was very nice and scheduling a time to meet with him was also great because unlike other shops he made himself available to suit my schedule which is almost unheard of these days. He was also kind enough to repair a tire on my truck that was going flat. He said bring it out asap and he would fix it and in 15 minutes he had the self tapping screw removed and a rubber tire plug installed. You just don't expect this type of service these days but James is one of the few great people still putting people first. His work is top quality and he works on minor and major repairs as if his family was going to be riding in every vehicle he services. His prices are extremely reasonable and I believe he will match or beat any written quote you receive from other mechanics. I usually don't give reviews for anything but I decided to so hopefully other people who want to be treated fairly will give James a chance. Trust me, you won't regret the old fashioned service from a very knowledgeable guy.

Since the 1970's, Wilmer Millers Garage has been my go-to for service to handle the more difficult…read moreand complicated diagnosis and repairs. I've gone to them from the time Wilmer Miller himself ran it and then Jim, and then the current owner/operators. They always have been able to find the problem when other garages couldn't, and I've never had to return to them because a repair wasn't done right. My son once had trouble with a car that ran great most of the time, but would occasionally start to barely run, or would even shut-off and wouldn't start for a while, then would be okay. He took it to several services garages including the Chevrolet Dealer. Each had their own idea of what they thought the problem was, and then replaced something (in one case, the $600. computer control board - by another garage that wasn't the Chevy dealer) only to have the problem continue with no improvement. Then after trying all of those different outfits, it was decided to let Wilmer Miller's garage give it one last try. I called them myself and talked to Jim (at the time). Jim asked what model the car was (an older Camaro Z28) and then immediately said that they're known for a problem with the mass air flow sensor and that the symptoms sounded just like that. Jim replaced the mass air flow sensor (a relatively low cost, simple replacement, and after that the car ran perfectly. That's just one example of many over the decades where Wilmer Miller's Garage had the expertise to get it done right. Wilmer Miller's isn't the cheapest place to go, but they are reasonable and know their stuff! They are the place to go if you want it done right the first time, and want to know that you aren't going to be told something that isn't true just so they can charge you something.
