So as many people get nervous going to the doctor I get both nervous and paranoid. My bp spikes and only a feeling of comfort relaxes me to the point of my bp returning to normal. Add donating blood and boom I have an instant 4 alarm fire going on. This is a special thanks to Ms. K. Smith for taking the the to talk me through the process, being patient with me as my first bp was slightly over the qualifying pressure and supplying me with all the free goodies that I received for doing such a simple act of kindness. The Big Red Bus was not only cool, cozy, and clean but a great source of service to be able to get out to areas that many people can walk or take public transportation to, adding a free fandango ticket and free appetizer is a great added bonus. See you in a few weeks for another donation! Kudos to this service and saving lives!!

The staff were nice enough if a bit distracted by their personal cell phones. The location was mostly empty when we came. The process was efficient. It takes less than thirty minutes between blood pressure and heart rate check, answer health questionnaire, and blood donation. Donating plasma takes longer so it's one and done for me. I'll stick with whole blood donation going forward :) Last time I donated, I received a $10 gift card from Red Lobster, $10 e-gift card, and a tie die shirt. I've received gift cards from Walmart, Publix, and Red Robin depending on where the One Blood Mobile Bus is setup. Sometimes, they provide water and snacks too. Can't beat that! The woman at the front (Caucasian with short hair) is very rude and has very passive aggressive behavior. Not only do you have to make an appointment but an appointment doesn't matter because you still don't get seen at the time. And let's be real, this is a plasma center, there are a lot of trashy/homeless/people with addictions the staff have to deal with constantly, that get angry over $50, so perhaps that needs to be considered it isn't the best working environment. I think these people are angles for what they do and how well they do it considering. It just short of a miracle.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a Goodwill Donation Center close to my house. I typically have…read moretaken my donations to the Jax Beach location. I called ahead to ask if I needed to take my donations around back. I was advised there was parking in the front. When I arrived there were two designated donation parking spots. I took one of the spots as I had five large bags to donate. I got out of my car and snapped a picture for Yelp. By the time I check in and added my photo the front door to the donation center was propped open. A young man came out and assisted me with carry my bags inside. He then asked if I wanted a receipt and I advised yes please. He pushed a button on a machine on the wall and handed me a receipt with instructions for setting up a Goodwill account and completing an itemized receipt. Pretty smooth transaction. I'll drop off more donations at this location in the future.

Somebody answered and said "this is a donation center for donations." Ha! Parked in one of the two designated parking spots for donations. I thought that was convenient, not that people in Florida abide by such signs or rules. I grabbed a bag of donations and walked in to find an empty desk. I placed the bag down and peeked in the back. A lady was on the phone and held up a finger to me like "one moment." I went and got the rest of the donations and put them down on the floor. I donate without wanting a receipt so I left. That lady is probably still on the phone to this day.

Tis the season of showing love and O positive is a perfect gift. This is my first time as a whole blood donor and it was pleasant. It didn't physically hurt. There was slight discomfort but I believe most of the pain is Apprehension and Anxiety. Get rid of those A-holes, and it's all good. Staff professional and friendly. I forgot her name but she answered all my questions and then some. Gave me one of all the stickers she had for my girl, packed me an extra Coke, tucked a long sleeved tshirt into my bag and cheerfully said "I'll see you next month! You get a blanket in January." I'm a total sucker for a good blanket. Even better though, I'm a sucker for a good cause. Share your power, it won't cost you a single dime. What you give is invaluable and that philanthropic feeling you get from giving? Priceless.

I arrived on 7/29/22 at approximately 13:00 and started the 1st donor process all over.... I accompanied by several others were shuffled around aimlessly awaiting pre-donor physicals... After a heated discussion between a staff member and another female donor it was determined that although I was screened 1st that she would proceed 1st .. Ironically this was only after we as the new donor were told to work it out amongst ourselves (complete strangers.... Mind you). God forbid if there was actually policies and procedures already mandated to govern such incidents Although seemly friendly in nature this staff grossly lacks structure and professionalism. A smile totally void of any business acumen is a recipe for future donor conflicts.. Donors arrive from extremely diverse backgrounds and communities and should NEVER be forced to make decisions about merit or status... This degree of tomfoolery should be addressed IMMEDIATELY!!!
