We visited the Hare and Hounds as it had been picked as the venue of this years North Cheshire CAMRA AGM obviously because of the quality of the beers. There were four beers on handpumps and, as I was driving, I had to rely on other's opinions on three of them. All agreed that they were tasty and well-kept; high praise from a gathering of CAMRA members! The menu was excellent and, although none of us were there to dine, the smells were beautiful, plus we saw the chef eating his own food always a good sign. Looking around the building one is impressed by the stylish yet friendly atmosphere including the beer gardens, which include the famous brook, which is the site of the annual duck race at Easter raising a phenomenal amount of money for charities.

I resisted adding a review until we had been a couple of times but I as we have been three times now it is worthy of a ten minutes of my time to write something nice. The first time we went I took my mum and dad, who can be a little over critical sometimes and they both said it was the best meal they had had since they had been visiting us. They live down south and have been coming up for 15 years so that's quite a testimonial. They had ducks legs and I had devilled whitebait followed by marlin steak in a spicy bouillabaisse which was fantastic. I would definitely recommend the Travellers now and hope that it is successful as its wonderful to have such a great restaurant so close to home.

Having asked in quite a few places in Frodsham and then on the Chester Road, The New Helsby Arms actually agreed. I think we where just grateful to get fed! And boy where we impressed they did, the food was amazing! I had the Mushroom Risotto and Rob had Tenderloin Pork Chops. Mine was lovely but I definitely had food envy especially after trying his! Pleasant atmosphere, and very welcoming. The pub dates back years, and has a long history connected with the canals (it's situated on top of the Preston Brook canal tunnel) Me hopes the folk who are currently in charge remain there, they certainly know how to run a good place. It's worth revisitingmany times!
